Timberman VS is a seemingly simple arcade game in which you need to chop down a tree as quickly as possible and not get hit on the head with it! However, behind the external ease there is a whole forest of challenges for those who strive for 100% of achievements.

The game was released back in 2018, and a lot has changed since then: the online mode is almost empty, and some of the achievements (especially online and related to individual characters) are currently quite problematic... For the most unpleasant achievements, you need to assemble a team of friends for online mode, and some achievements do not count at all.

Nevertheless, this guide contains all the relevant information for 2025 – recommendations for each achievement, including those that cannot be obtained based on the description of the achievement!

I tried to systematize each achievement, specify the actual conditions and time of receipt, as well as describe the game modes and characters.

And I'll give you some advice about the game itself. I recommend choosing a mouse for management, personally based on my subjective experience of opening achievements on two accounts!

Please do not write that I am doing this manual on time, after so many years. There was no single guide for this game on Steam at all, so I decided to try to make it as a first experiment🌝

The main and most recognizable mode of Timberman VS. The main task of the player is to cut down a tree without hitting branches and not letting the timer run out. That is, as in the first part, chop either to the left or to the right. Each successful hit adds a fraction of a second to the time scale, and the speed gradually increases. Over time, the scale begins to fill up faster, so much so that it is difficult to overtake it, which is noticeable when 1000 logs are cut down! In this mode, you get most of the basic achievements. It is ideal for adjusting to the pace of the game and learning how to react quickly to obstacles. And also online is provided in this mode, although not without flaws!


A more dynamic variation of the classics. In this mode, players need to save the birds at the top of the tree. The pace is faster, there are fewer mistakes, and a sense of timing is a crucial factor. It can be considered an advanced endurance and mindfulness workout! There is no online option in this mode.


This is where the final transition from the usual cutting down of trees to high-speed competitions takes place! The player will not just have to hack, but do it at a specific distance both against bots and against online players. A new mechanic opens up here: boosts. The winner of the race is the one who will not only be fast and will be able to accurately cut down logs without hitting branches, but also activate boosts in time so, to get back to the pace of the race.

Many of the characters in Timberman VS are comic references and parodies. Here is a list of all the characters added to the game, with some description.

The first group of achievements is devoted to the basics of the Timberman craft – speed, reaction and concentration. Here, the player learns to feel the rhythm of the beats and maintain the tempo in the Classic or Hero modes. It all starts with a couple dozen logs, and ends with thousands! Here, the player needs to cut down the maximum number of logs in one game, and the maximum number (best) that the player has achieved can be tracked in the upper-left corner of the screen in the main menu.


You can complete 5 achievements from the entire group in one run. It is recommended to perform in the Classic mode. If you have enough reaction time, you will be able to complete them in one go! Launch the game by selecting the "local" tab, and then select any character.

Pure work and endless clicks. These achievements are a test of patience: hundreds of thousands of blows with an axe, hours behind the screen and, finally, the realization that the forest is not endless after all! They show the player's global progress by the number of logs felled (total), which can be tracked in the upper-left corner of the screen in the main menu. Progress is counted in each of the modes!

Not everyone in the world of Timberman can protect themselves. Sometimes forest fires occur, which causes small birds to suffer - and it is up to the player to save them in the Hero mode at different difficulty levels: Beginner, Average, Axe Master!

Enter the Hero mode by selecting the Beginner difficulty, and you will need to cut down about 150 to 300 logs in one go before you reach the bird.

Enter the Hero mode by selecting the Beginner difficulty, and you will need to save the bird 10 times (7 if you have completed the 3 previous achievements) and cut down about 150 to 300 logs each time.

These achievements do not test strength, but endurance. The player will have to complete the distances in record time in the Race mode, use boosts in a timely manner, and in some cases even win without them. Races can be run against both bots and real players, but in the latter case, problems may arise, which is described in detail in the last category Online mode!

Enter the Race mode by selecting in the "local" tab in any order of distance. (50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 5000), to play all of them once in total. You will need to finish each submitted race at least once. The choice of the world does not matter.

On average, 64 boosts can be activated at a distance of 5000 (the average duration of the race is from 12 minutes to 13 minutes). A record case is given.

Also in the game statistics, by clicking "Settings" in the bottom right of the main menu, and inside "Statistics", you can track the number of boosts that you have activated during the entire time of your game.

Timberman VS is not just a game about chopping trees, but a whole collection of colorful characters! Everything is here: from the old dwarf to the president, from the mag to the robot. This category is dedicated to discovering characters and accumulating a specific number of felled logs on each of them. Opening characters is possible during the game in any of the modes, because at the end of each game, the player gets experience for felled logs, for which characters are opened in turn.

Unlock all characters

This achievement is one of the longest in terms of time to get, because after getting all the remaining achievements, except for the next one, which depends on the current one, you may not have enough experience to unlock all the characters. Just play different modes, if all the achievements are achieved except this one, then it will be better to start the Race mode by selecting "local" in the tab, at a distance of 5000. After finishing any game, you get a certain amount of experience, and in the case of such a distance, you will open about 2.5 characters at a time. As soon as the last character is unlocked, the achievement is yours!

Score at least 100 with every character

As the characters are opened (in one line, i.e. 10 characters), enter the Classic mode for each new opened character and cut down at least 100 logs. Statistics for each character can be viewed in the main menu on the bottom left in the "Characters" tab.


There is also a source claiming that this achievement is "broken", however, at the time of 2025, I managed to get it without any problems on two accounts according to this description!

Almost every character in Timberman VS is a reference to something (movies, myths, pop culture) or even connected to a separate world (a map on which we chop logs or their analogues). Achievements in this category are obtained in the Classic mode (except for one that is obtained in the Hero mode) and mark special game moments where a particular character must start chopping logs in a particular world, however, there are achievements that are somewhat "broken"!

There is a problem here that the ID of the character required to obtain this achievement is shifted by 5 in reverse order. That is, if you turn to the "Characters" section and count the 5th character in reverse order, then the 5th will be Sailorgirl (60 character from the table), so to get an achievement in the world "Palace" you need to play for her!!!

It is recommended to complete this achievement after completing the "Family business" achievement so that all characters are open. It is necessary to enter the Hero mode on the Beginner difficulty with the character Fireman Doug (48th character from the table) and save the bird. From the source described at the beginning of this section, it follows that the same problem is present here as in the previous three achievements with a shift of 5 positions, that is, it turns out that this is the Reindeer character (43 characters from the table), however, on two accounts at the time of 2025, it was revealed that this achievement was given for Fireman Doug, so it's not "broken"!!! However, if you don't get this achievement in this case, try playing as a Reindeer!

The most difficult category!!! In 2025 (actually much earlier), online Timberman VS is completely extinct, and these achievements are a real challenge! And the main problem with these achievements lies in the fact that the online mode is currently "broken" by itself. A lot of discussions about this game also outline this problem. I will clarify this point, at least what I managed to find out.

In some cases, players are faced with a situation where certain accounts cannot connect to each other, although there are no problems when interacting with other users. A possible reason is incorrect processing of credentials on the side of the game servers, which results in an erroneous entry in the database that prevents the establishment of a connection between specific profiles. In this case, the connection is broken even at the initialization stage, regardless of the network or device.

Another possible reason is related to the organization of network routes: the game uses intermediate access points to establish connections, and if they are incorrectly distributed, individual accounts may end up on incompatible nodes. Solving both problems requires the intervention of developers – correcting erroneous entries or adjusting routing.

Therefore, the only advice I can give on this group of achievements is to find a lot of friends or create a lot of separate accounts and hope that you will be able to connect to each other...

Two players are enough to complete this achievement! First, go into the Classic mode and select the "online" tab (the number of participants does not matter, however, of course, we take two). We choose a private lobby to be able to invite players directly through Steam.


The following actions to invite other players to the game session are relevant for all other achievements in this group.

Now we are in the online mode lobby.


Next, click on the button overlaid with descriptions from the bottom in the center to open the player invitation menu.


Now, if the second player was able to connect to us, then we can start the game! To be significantly faster than your opponents, you need to ask the second player to do nothing, and you cut down 20 logs without mistakes for 3 rounds in a row. In this case, you will receive an achievement at the end of three rounds.

Win a online race on each distance (Short, Medium, Long)

Two players are enough to complete this achievement! First, go into the Race mode and select the "online" tab (the number of participants does not matter, however, of course, we take two). We choose a private lobby to be able to invite players directly through Steam. And then we need to play with these settings at least three times for each of the distances: "short", "medium", "long", since the Race mode online differs in that it leads only to such types of distances, and already within these distances a distance can be randomly selected from the local a case that fits the wording of the three above.

Two players are enough to complete this achievement! It's easy enough to win any game online, as, for example, described in the previous two achievements! Finding one "compatible" player (who can connect to you) is not that difficult, so this achievement is even more or less realistic.

It takes 4 players to complete this achievement!!! It is recommended to enter the Race mode and, similarly, as described in the previous achievements in the online mode section, try to invite 4 players and only hope that you can find "compatible" players (who can connect to you), because on the second account I was unable to get only this achievement.! It was not possible to find enough "compatible" players. On the main account, I received this achievement back in 2020, apparently when the online mode in the game functioned adequately. Now you can refer again to the tips presented at the beginning of this group of achievements. Getting this achievement honestly (without SAM) is possible only if you are lucky and there are players who will be conditionally "compatible".

Summing up, I can say that despite the years, bugs, and quiet online, this game remains surprisingly alive for those who appreciate perseverance and a sense of rhythm. Let the axe ring smoothly, the birds escape on time, and the log counter grows indefinitely. Good luck on the way to 100% – and remember, a real Timberman is not afraid of branches or bugs and will not resort to using SAM!!!
