﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉ ୨:♡:୧ ﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉﹉
here i’ll be explaining the steps i take to post animated/transparent guides since i’ve gotten a few questions on how i do it from a few of my friends! ♡
(disclaimer: it can get rather tedious considering things like steam’s required file size for guides being 2mb but i have a solution so don’t fret!

step 1:
find whatever gif or image you like, if it’s an image and you want a specific part of it to be cropped, i would personally take the photo into an app like picsart or procreate and draw over the background with the white drawing tool just so whenever i explain this next step, it’s 99% of the time guaranteed to work! if it’s already a png (already has a transparent background) image, your life got a whole lot easier!

step 2:
(for images only) now that you’ve gotten the portion of your photo ready that had that background you drew over, take your photo to this site here: https://www.fotor.com/features/background-remover/upload

i use this for my png images i later animate and rarely come across any imperfections, but if i do, i’ll just have to manually erase or highlight the part of the photo i want to be a png. i recommend the image of your choice be high quality with a decently defined outline so the site registers what to crop better!

you’ll run into issues like what i previously mentioned if not, and rarely the site just does NOT like your image and won’t crop it for you so you have to do it entirely by hand >.<
but once you have your png cropped and ready, we’re ready to animate it!

step 3:
now that you have your desired gif or png ready, you can take the gif to this site here: https://ezgif.com/crop

here you’ll crop your gif to be a square (steam’s requirement) and conveniently enough, they have a little box you can check off to size it to the square and here you can customize exactly what part of the gif you want cropped :3

i actually use ezgif a LOT since there’s so many features so keep this handy since you’ll need it for the png image after animating it too!
disclaimer: sometimes with gifs, the file can be too big and you’ll need to compress it down to the 2mb steam requires. you can try this site:
https://babypng.com/compress-gif/compress-gif-to-2mb

the reliability isn’t always perfect with this site getting it to a perfect 2mb file but it does do a pretty good job at making it a smaller so definitely use it anyway! once you have your compressed file, if the gif still happens to be too big by a few megabytes, head back to ezgif and use their optimize feature! here’s the link for easier navi: https://ezgif.com/optimize

once you upload your compressed but not compressed enough gif, slide the bar to the right till your new gif says it is exactly 2mb or a little under it! you’ll see the file size directly under your newly optimized gif! again, i LOVE ezgif <3
your gif is now ready to be posted as a guide!

step 4:
now back to our png image, how you choose to animate this is entirely up to you. i usually use procreate since i know how to animate pretty quickly on there however there’s a site i found that gets the job done quickly and has a range of animation styles to choose from! here’s the link: https://www.3dgifmaker.com/

you can customize things like the speed, total frames, size, even filters. the list is pretty large and it’s relatively a good site! i made a few guides with it just to test it out before i made this guide and i can vouch it does well ♡

step 5:
once you have your png animated how you’d like, with whatever filter, speed etc, download it! it will more than likely not be cropped perfectly so head back to ezgif for that cropping tool again: https://ezgif.com/crop

crop the gif to be that square you’d like and once you’ve done that, download it and your png animated gif is 98% ready to be uploaded to your guide! to keep the animated png transparent when you post your guide, upload it here: https://hexed.it/

once you’ve done that, scroll all the way to the bottom of the code and change the last number in it to 21. now you can download it again and it is ready to be added to your guide! :3

so there you have it, these are the steps you can take to post guides that are transparent animated images/gifs! i hope it was helpful in anyway~ tysm for reading!
