"Bela Lugosi's Dead" is the debut single by the English post-punk band Bauhaus, released on August 6, 1979, which pays tribute to horror film actor Béla Lugosi. Considered the first goth rock song and the progenitor of the entire gothic musical genre, it has become an anthem for gothic culture. Despite not reaching the main charts in its time, its impact on music is still felt today, inspiring an entire dark and atmospheric genre.
