Your squad is out in the field, eating on the dirt. There's nothing around, and it's not exactly clean...
But hey, you're surrounded by beautiful people. Is the environment really that important? People are beautiful, too!


In short, this mod allows colonists to be a source of Beauty for those around them.
Here's the detailed breakdown:
The Formula - A pawn's "Personal Beauty Value" is calculated as:
( (Beauty Stat * 20) + (Social Skill - 4) * 5 ) * Social Impact
(The pawn's base Beauty stat is capped between -2 and +4 for this calculation).

An average colonist (0 Beauty, 4 Social, 93% Social Impact): ((0 * 20) + (4 - 4) * 5) * 0.93 = 0

A superstar (+2 Beauty, 20 Social, 137% Social Impact): ((2 * 20) + (20 - 4) * 5) * 1.37 = 164.4 ≈ 165

An ugly person who has overcome their appearance with social grace (-2 Beauty, 13 Social, 118% Social Impact): ((-2 * 20) + (13 - 4) * 5) * 1.18 = 5.9 ≈ 6

Self-Perception: Pawns also benefit from their own Beauty Value, capped at 180. Think of it as confidence. A superstar with +4 Beauty and 20 Social skill will have a constant +180 "Confidence" Beauty bonus, no matter how ugly their surroundings are.

Maximum Cap: The Beauty Value gained from other pawns is capped at 240. This prevents you from stuffing a room full of socialites to instantly max out everyone's Beauty need.


The absolute maximum bonus this mod provides is 180 (from self) + 240 (from others) = 420. This total value is averaged across the ~241 tiles a pawn can see, resulting in a perceived Beauty increase of roughly +1.7.
In simple terms, if your away team is full of social superstars, they will almost never suffer from an "Unsightly environment".
Considering the high Social skill and Beauty stat required for the maximum bonus, this mod should not break game balance:
And crucially, it only increases a pawn's perceived Beauty need; it does not actually add Beauty to the room itself. Even if you cram ten social-20 colonists into a barracks, the room will not become "Unbelievably impressive".

The performance overhead of this mod is almost negligible. It is divided into two parts: determining a character's beauty value, and calculating the beauty value of characters currently in view. The former is only calculated when a social skill level or a Hediff changes, while the latter scans once every 200 ticks (approximately 3.3 seconds), whereas a normal "slow check" is generally 150 ticks.

@ShyGuySpirit No, they're different. Just as you said, this mod essentially turns pawns into 'moving sculptures' rather than affecting social abilities. However, they can definitely be used together. Beauty Matters makes charm influence social outcomes, which in turn increases the beauty bonus provided by this mod.

Is this similar to the Beauty Matters mod? Looks like it functions more like a moving art piece rather than increase social impacts. Still a cool looking mod, may actually work nice together with it.
