How to disable anti aliasing (TAAU)
Av Phantom
Just a simple anti aliasing remover, also removes the screen jitter from DL2. I've always hated it and techland isn't helping by forcing it into the game as it doesn't even artifact as bad as other games do.

WHAT IT DOES
It removes / disables anti aliasing and that awful screen jittering effect that was also present in DL2 entirely. No need for a new save and it shouldn't really conflict with anything that's not trying to do the same thing.
WHY
I have always hated anti aliasing (TAA in particular) and upscalers with my whole being. If people ask for it i could also try to make it for dying light 2 since they use the same engine even tho the TAA implementation seems to be different.
Have you ever played any of the games released in the last decade and have wondered why it looked so damn blurry, well that's usually anti aliasing's fault! And that wouldn't be an issue by itself if only devs gave us the option to disable it like they used to do many years ago. So i decided to just do it myself on day 1 so that as many people as possible can enjoy this fantastic game without any blur!
REQUIREMENTS
If you play in singleplayer there's no requirements but if you want to play multiplayer with any mod enabled you'll have to download "Play Online With Mods": https://www.nexusmods.com/dyinglightthebeast/mods/17
INSTALLATION
Disclaimer: you should always do a backup of the files you edit just in case something goes wrong or this method stops working after a future update.

  • Download the file;
  • Extract the file so that you have the "TAAremover.txt" file;
  • Go into the game files and into "Dying Light The Beast\ph_ft\source";
  • Using WinRAR or 7zip, OPEN the "data0.pak" file and once inside navigate to this path "data0.pak/renderloop/scripts";
  • Once inside there should be a file called "taa.ppfx", open said file and OVERWRITE the contents of said file with the contents of the "TAAremover.txt" file you downloaded;

  • Make sure to actually save the changes, after that switch to WinRAR and there should be a pop up asking to update the file in the archive, do that or the changes won't actually save;

  • Go to: "C:\Users\<YourUsername>\Documents\dying light the beast\out\settings";
  • Open the video.scr file with a text editor (notepad works);
  • inside the file look for this exact line: "AntiAliasing(1)" and change it to "AntiAliasing(0)";
  • When in game remeber to enable TAAU NATIVE;
  • That's it, enjoy your blurryless game! ^^
SIDE EFFECTS
You'll most likely notice the usual shimmering/flickering/artifacting mainly when looking at foliage, reflections and hair, there's nothing i can do about that as it is an issue with how the game has been built from the ground up. Shadows thankfully don't seem to have any issues unlike other games (I'M LOOKING AT YOU UNREAL ENGINE 5).
I can't say for sure if it's gonna cause any other graphical issues/artifacting/crashes/end of the world scenarios, but for what i've played it doesn't seem to cause any harm at all.
There's no need for a new save and it shouldn't really conflict with anything that's not trying to do the same thing.
