Either way, he won't be suffering needlessly, as poorly maintained teeth increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks, not to mention how painful it is to have caries directly into the nerve.

Nor does he suffer socio-economically, adding unnececarry costs to life such as repeated visits to the dentist. Unless dental care is free in his country, ofc. Given the state of the other characters, this does not seem to be the case though. It is all a question of class folks. Class through everyday trivial action, not nececarrily through "economical class" such as the Marxists love to go on and on about. Anyways, be like the Hermit guys. Toothbrush, tooth floss, mouthwash or fluorine tablets are next to free compared to the extensive costs of neglecting your dental care. Not to mention it affects you socially when your mouth smells like a sewage, and looks not quite forthcomming. And always go to the dentist as soon as possible, as it will be WAY cheaper compared to what you pay when advanced neglect leads to pain that forces you to go to the dentist. And no, simply tearing the tooth out yourself is NOT a optimal idea. Unless arterial plaque is something you aim for that is.*
