I'm ZinStonehead and I'm uploading this mod for OaNtKb because they couldn't upload it and they didn't finish the rework. I completed it with Aliquis.

This is the original Grimalackt's Bot Improvements - Combat mod with 8 features that empowers the fighting capabilities of bots in a fair manner:

1 - Better Melee Choices: The bots will prioritise light attacks over heavy attacks in most cases, the exception is when the enemy target is immune to light attacks in which case the bots will then use heavy attacks instead.

2 - Ping Elites: The bots will tag/ping any Elites that attack them within the same limits of what a player could do, this will trigger appropriate voice lines and if you have WHC in the game you will also get the buff.

3 - Healing Threshold: Gives an option to change when bots should want to heal themselves, between when hurt, when wounded, and when extra heals are available. There are two separate options for bots with and without natural bond equipped, since the default behaviour for those two is already different.

4 - No Longer Chase Specials: Bots will no longer run towards Specials to melee them if the special is too far away, they may still shoot them at any range.

5 - Ignore line of fire: Bots will no longer look for cover against Ratling Gunners unless the Ratling Gunner is within lethal range.

6 - Bots No Longer Focus Bosses: Bots will ignore Bosses entirely unless attacked by them or no other enemies are nearby.

7 - Improved Revive Logic: Makes bots more likely to attempt revives through danger and makes some careers use their active ability to secure an attempt if needed.

8 - Improved Active Ability Usage: Changes the logic that several careers use to determine when to use their active ability. This may cause some careers to use their active ability too sparingly on difficulties below legend.

Any of these features can be toggled on or off in the mod.

This mod is for the modded realm only unless Fatshark approves it for the official realm.
If there is something wrong with the mod, let me know on the Fatshark forum.
I will fix any issues the mod might have, even after the game's support ends.
If the Better Melee Choices option is active, there may be issues, such as bots using some weapons in a way that is ineffective against armored enemies.
There will likely be many updates in the next few weeks as I will test and try to address reported bugs.

Dragonshy: Thank you for this! .-) It's valuable information that makes me hate that crappy EAC even more.
It's also nice of him to answer you, but I can't agree with the statement: "The majority of what is in BotImprovements has already been implemented into the main game over the years."
I'll check the Discord, but if FS is waiting for the company that owns that most of the time broken EAC, then we're in trouble.

(Part 2) If there's something particularly helpful that in your opinion this mod provides, which the current bots are incapable of, maybe try raising a request in the (official?) modding discord [discord.gg].

For anybody actually reading this, please don't go into that discord and raise a fuss just for the sake of it. This dev didn't have to reply back to me, but they did anyway.

@Zin, I tried contacting one of the FS devs who seems to be in charge of the VT2 modding scene, and this is what they said concerning sanctioning:

"As it stands sanctioning is in a bit of a halt due to us not being able to do so safely. We are waiting for Epic to port functionality from the previous version of EAC which will allow us to update mods on the fly just like before, but as it stands now, every time a mod needs an update we need to bundle it with a patch of the actual game as well. So to ensure that the live game stays as stable as possible we can't risk sanctioning mods, or even updates to sanctioned mods unless they are minor and thoroughly vetted."

"The majority of what is in BotImprovements has already been implemented into the main game over the years. Is there anything in particular you're missing from it? If so we could make a push to get that into the main game instead"

@Unknown Traveller Lets not attribute to malice what we can attribute to incompetence. Bots haven't been made worse on purpose, they have become worse as a side effect of some other changes they've made over the course of the game's lifespan.
