How to Add a Custom Dance to ActMod
由 AhmedMake400 制作
This guide explains how developers can add their own custom dances to ActMod

Note:
  • This step is only for creators (developers or anyone familiar with Lua programming and animations).

  • If ActMod is modified, altered, or an unofficial version not from AhmedMake400 is used,
custom dances may not work properly.

  • If a dance title is duplicated in the table, it will be ignored,
whether it already exists in the default or in custom dances.

⚠️ Important Notice ⚠️
You should know that I am not responsible for any misuse.
Some people might use it in inappropriate ways, but that is beyond my control.
I am also not responsible for anyone who adds custom dances to ActMod.
However, I may remove or block inappropriate dances from being included if necessary.
(In short, you are responsible for your own custom dances.)

🙏 I hope everyone understands this.

How to Start Adding a Custom Dance File
To add your own custom dance, first create a folder for the required files:
1. Go to the path: ....steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons

2. Create a new folder (recommended: plain text, no special characters).
Example: myDance

3. Inside that folder, create the following path: lua/actmod/am_animc

4. Inside am_animc, create a file, for example: mdance01.lua

5. Open the file you just created and add your dance data inside it, It must contain data for that dance, something like:
return{ ["image_name"] = { Config = { Anim = "" ,Name = "" ,class = 1 ,isNew = true } } }
❕ Important: The file must contain only a single table, otherwise it will be ignored.
You can also check my example file[github.com], which includes the instructions and rules for creating a valid data table.

6. After filling in the table for your custom dance, make sure of the following:
  • [Dance image file]: The image file name must match the custom dance table name (the title at the start of your dance table). The image must be in .png format, recommended size 250x250.
  • [Sound file (if added) ]: Make sure the sound file path used for your custom dance is correct.
  • [Animation file (if added) ]: Ensure your custom dance animation is included in the player animations. You can verify this by using the command: am4_manim
(This shows all player animations from list Base Anim-AM4 ).

My custom dance is not showing or not working
If your custom dance does not appear in the menu, make sure that:
  • Make sure the table is not duplicated or already exists, either from the base mod or another creator.
  • The image name for your custom dance matches the dance title in the table.
    - The title is taken from the start of the table.
    - Do not include file extensions or formats (only the image name).
  • The image format must be .png, and it is recommended to use dimensions of 250x250.
  • The image for your custom dance is in the correct path:
    *YourAddonDance*/
    materials/actmod/cumact/

If your custom dance doesn’t work (even though it shows in the custom menu):
  • Make sure the custom dance table is written correctly.
  • Check that all ActMod requirements are installed and working properly.
  • Verify that your custom dance is actually included in the player’s animations.
You can check this by viewing the player’s animations using the command: am4_manim

If it still doesn’t work correctly, you can use these console commands:
  • actmod_getlog → Opens a log window in the middle of the screen. If you see any text in red, it means there’s a problem preventing custom dances from loading.

  • actmod_cl_showbterr → Shows a small window with simple logs about custom dance files and their operations.

  • actmod_reloadact → reloads the dance tables. Use it after editing your custom dance table to apply changes immediately without restarting the map.

These commands can help you identify the root of the problem.

It won't help you, because the dances you want are not in the old version, the old version is only used to run dances from other Addons files (like Custom Taunt)

@AhmedMake400
In that case, could you send me an older version of the mod with these emotes? I would be very grateful.

@Surix
I'll tell you briefly, either someone creative will bring them back into their addon to include in custom dances, or wait in the future until they are added back.

Hi, after the update, a lot of emotes (or rather, a whole pack) disappeared. I don't remember exactly which ones. Is there a way to get them all back? I think the pack was called "Custom Taunt" or something like that?

I was going to make a dance pack with custom ActMod songs and dances, right?

But the audio didn't work???

They just didn't play

and I gave up on making the mod called Juliano Chaves Dance Pack [ACTMOD] 😔

Do you really know how to deal with the lua programming language?

If your answer is yes, then maybe you haven't checked everything, anyway I will try to make a video explaining how to deal with this, maybe today or maybe tomorrow
