Beginner Tips!
Here is a list of small helpful tips that you may or may not know! If you have any other tips for others, put them in the comments! This is not at all an extensive list, but might be helpful nonetheless.

  • (For Keyboard) Binding the Enter Key to something like the "R" key can make interacting much easier.

  • Jump! Jump Everywhere! There are many shortcuts throughout the town! Including: Behind the Cafe/Mayor's house, and behind Diana/Jules houses which can cut out the entire pathway into and through town! You can also hop over the water from the piers to get to where you're going faster!
You can also jump on special barrels to get a higher jump!

(Examples of a few shortcut locations:)

  • Turn your flowers into perfume/dye. Utilising the windmill as soon as you get it can nearly double your income, as processed goods sell for much more than the raw materials. (Just save some flowers for the festival in Spring!) Many forageables can be put into the windmill and will free up space for your bazaar stall while adding even more G to your pockets.

  • Use your windmill as storage... kinda. While you can't add items to the dispenser, you also don't have to take it out. If you don't need the processed items immediately, just leave them in the dispenser to avoid clogging up your main storage until you can expand.

  • When processing goods that take a long time in the windmill, you can process them in smaller batches to get them finished faster! Instead of making 10 Lumber in one batch, make 3 smaller batches at once to get it done through the night.

  • Some food have special buffs! Including Stamina Buffs, Friendship chat buffs, speed buffs and more! Some food however doesn't have a buff attached, so read the description.

  • Freshness! Many items have a freshness rating. Leaving it too long in your inventory/storage will make thing slowly get rotten. The lower the freshness, the less they are worth, so don't hoard perishable items for too long. (It does take a little while for things to lose freshness)

  • Recipes can be found by eating food and receiving that dish's recipe. Some recipes can also be found in villagers book shelves!

  • If the weather is clear put your animals outside to let them graze. It will save you money on animal feed and they will be happier for it. If you ring the bell they will follow you to where you are standing (if they are in range). Standing right by the barn door will make them path into it and go inside. You can plant more fodder with fodder seeds and planting it out in the grazing field. (Not the crop field)

  • Watch the wind. Once you have a glider, you'll only be able to glide in the direction that the wind blows, and the strength of the day's wind will determine how fast you go.
Strong winds will also increase the speed of the windmills for the day, so keep an eye on the weather alert.

  • Unlock the Bazaar Decor stall as soon as you can! You will receive a quest after your first Bazaar to hand over 10 Iron, 10 Lumber and 10 Stone. You will get access to Bazaar Decor which will allow you to buy furniture for your stall and give you some good bonuses to your sales.

  • Upgrade storage or backpack at the first bazaar. Having this extra space will be very helpful while you are saving up inventory for the next bazaar. (I also recommend buying a calf on your first bazaar)
  • Felix can offer special "techniques" at the Bazaar. For a price he can teach you things like double jump and fishing techniques. Once you have purchased the double jump, more will become available.

    (Once you have Sprites)
  • Get them to Lvl 4 as quick as you can for a quality buff to ★1 on items that they correlate with. It will give you a slight value increase on those items for every quality bonus they receive.

  • Get as many Happiness points as you can to buy helpful bonuses from the Sprites at the Bazaar!

    Updated Tips:
  • Use the Hoe to till upraised dirt and find ore and other items.
(Additiona) There is a tilling spot hidden on the left of the hotel sometimes that always drops a large amount of various medals) - Screenshot soon

  • In the tutorials it tells you that jumping when doing farming for watering, harvesting, and planting allows you to interact with 3 crops at once. (More after upgrades)
This also works for: Chopping Wood/crushing stone and cutting flowers/long grass.

  • (Submitted by Hera Vynch) __ Interacting with sign posts can drop Medals. (may be a one time thing. Still testing.)
Medals can also spawn on the ground behind the cafe.

  • (Submitted by Hera Vynch) __ You can manual save/load the game before sleeping on 31st of the month to change next season's trend

  • (Submitted by Hera Vynch) __ If your item is going bad soon, throw it to windmill or cook something with it to reset its freshness. Better than losing the item all together.

  • (Submitted by Vega) __ Throw away objects by selecting an item while in the inventory and open the "Item Menu" (F on keyboard) and throw away. (Note: Trash items may have a use later, and rotting items can be used for fertiliser)

  • You can only have one active effect from eating food, and eating something with an effect will replace your current effect. However eating something that has no effect, will not remove your current buff.

  • You can make a little extra money by cooking. Recipes like sashimi will bump most fish up to a nice profit (just make sure the kind of fish doesn't sell more uncooked). Doesn't matter what fish is used, and the price only goes up by quality. (Can turn a 60g fish into 195g for example)
Bottling walnuts then making walnut juice is another way to make a profit.
Cooking takes no time from your day and you can cook in big batches at once!
Check out what recipes have few ingredients but add profit to the raw materials.

  • Grow flowers and turn them into bouquets! A standard bouquet starts at a sell price for 999g - 1,344g (depending which bouquet) and will only increase value based on the flower quality. The required flower seeds for each season are sold from Miguel's shop/bazaar (some are only available at the bazaar). Since they require only 3 flowers each bouquet, you can turn a massive profit. (Most flowers also take a few days to grow too)

  • Some crops are worth more as seeds! Growing something like tomato, you get lots of crops that sell for a very small amount. However- you can turn each tomato into Tomato seeds at the Blue Mill, which sell for +200g each seed bag. (Just save some of those seeds to replant later for higher quality!) - Note this doesn't apply to ALL crops! Some crops are better pickled/cooked/preserved or just sold as is.

  • You can see if you are missing a recipe when buying food at the cafe! There is a small icon on the left side above the meal. If it has a tick, this means you have the recipe. If there is no tick then you do not own the recipe, but can learn it by eating that meal!

Check out the comments for other helpful tips! Unfortunately I can't feature everyone's awesome pointers but thank you to everyone who contributes~!
Insects/Critters
(Adding a section dedicated for catching insects/critters)

  • (For Keyboard) Holding down L-CRTL will allow you to "walk" instead of run. This will allow you to sneak up on bugs and other critters to catch them!

To catch Butterflies and other flying insects, you need to walk + jump when close to grab.

In Summer: Firefliess will appear as glowing floaties. (See screenshot) They can be easy to miss sometimes.

In Summer: If you can hear cicadas, it means one is nearby on a tree. You can see them on the front of trees on the trunk. Sneak up to catch them.

Make sure to collect your flowers that are planted by the beehives before the end of the season! Planting grown flowers changes the kind of honey you get and increases value. -- Plant a variety of flowers to turn into bouquets at the end of the season to sell :soswebby:

- Use the item menu (triangle menu) instead of the item shortcuts when trying to consume food. this saves you time as time is paused when browsing your bag.
- Herb salad gives you Stamina Saver lvl1 buff. Very helpful when doing stamina intensive work.
- Stamina Saver lvl2 is from a dish you can get thru mini madeleine shop in bazaar
- Forageables(wood, stone, ore, herbs, mushroom, etc) has a second reset at 5pm everyday. You have to reenter the map (going inside buildings then exiting counts).
- You can get Oricalchum from ore nodes (light blue iirc) near the sprite house (sometimes a node spawns in the rightmost island). You need double jump and strong wind to reach the sprite house area.
- Pets each have a herd size, this is the number of barn animals they will automatically herd out to graze and herd in in the evening. Train your pets to increase their herd size.

@HardcoreCasual
After keeping on my stamina for a while it seems like doing the super actions do save stamina in the long run, especially when you have upgraded your tools to cover wider areas.

@HardcoreCasual
I haven't directly measured it but it seems like it uses about the same amount (Jumping to water 3 tiles using 3 tiles worth of stamina)
Even if it used a little more, the amount of time saved to water/harvest large areas of crops is much more valuable since you will lose a lot of the day watering individually (especially when you expand the farm)
Doing the watering/harvesting and then going straight for a bath to regain stamina is a good way to mitigate the stamina loss too (You will just lose the 30 minutes in game time from the bath) :soswebby:

Question: Has anyone measured the difference in stamna consumed between using a super action (jumping to water as an example) and just doing the action normally?

Buy wheat powder at the bazaar, from the mayor. The merchant doesn't sell it at first and you need it to make the honey cake for the second spring event.
Jules also needs it for pasta if you're romancing him.

Here are some tips I just put in the discussion board:

Q: Can you move animals from one barn to another?
A: YES! You can push big animals or pick up chickens and place them in the other building.

Q: How do you train your horse? Do you just run around?
A: You have to interact with the board right outside the horse track. You can train 3x per day before 10pm. The horse treats are alternative food and have nothing to do with training unlike pets.

Q: Why have my trees stopped gaining quality despite fertilizing everyday?
A: I just did an experiment, and it seems they only increase quality during the growing phase. If they are mature, the quality can't go up.

Q: My 5-star dish didn't win the cooking contest, what gives?
A: Complexity of the dish really matters! Dishes that require ingredients with multiple steps of processing are key, which require PLANNING! (cheese, butter > milk, for example)

1. If you have flowers that're going bad and you have unlocked beekeeping / beehouses in the mountains, you can place them in the area in front of your beehouse to essentially 'freeze' (not refresh!) your flowers' freshness while you either grow more of the same type for dyes or bouquets, but it's also good for getting more types of honeycombs as well. Just make sure to cut down all of the in-season flowers before the 1st of the next season, unless you want them to wither.

2. If you've unlocked the ability to double jump, you can jump onto the cliffs south of the town fountain and behind Gabriel's house closest to the Bazaar area by positioning yourself on top of a planter / lampost closest to the edge of the ledge. Double jump towards it, and then press the glide button to push yourself on top to grab the extra ore and soil patch. Great for when it's not windy enough to travel on the cliff where the Harvest Sprites live.

- You can sell items at the general store (forgot his name, the M one) you don't have to wait until the bazaar
- All 6 windmill products are produced at the same time, not a waiting line scenario
- You don't have to go to the sprite house to give the sprites their items. You just talk to them. Penny (critters) is on top of the Cafe.
