Timothy Green's Top TEN Favorite Capcom Characters (in no particular order)
Af Doctor Timbrwulf
"There are plenty of Capcom characters that are popular, but which ones are actually favorites of Timothy Green, a.k.a. Doctor Timbrwulf?" asked nobody. Ever. Not even my mom or dad.

Wellll, I'm gonna tell the whole world anyway! Some people have favorite characters because of their looks. Some have faves because of their abilities. I have faves based on those things, sure, but I also delve into these characters' stories that... well, they go a little deep, which is a big part of what attracts me to these guys and gals designed by Capcom.

Most characters on this list are quite popular for their skills, their looks, or just because the games wouldn't be the same if they weren't in them, but I chose them for multiple reasons. Some characters on this list may surprise you - heck, they even surprise me a bit. I had no idea that I would be drawn to these characters, but well... here they are.

You may never look at them the same again.

...

...Or maybe you will. That's up to you. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Felicia (Darkstalkers) - Capcom's Attempt at Innocence
Okay, okay! I hear you. "Seriously, Tim? You put a naked cat lady as one of your favorite Capcom characters? Are you a simp like the rest of the other guys?!?"

I'm well aware of her lack of clothing and the fact that she comes from Darkstalkers, a very disturbing arcade game... but hear me out.

Felicia was born and raised by Sister Rose - in other words, at a Catholic orphanage. Her upbringing has molded her into a much nicer Darkstalker than any of the others in the series. When Rose passes away, she decides to pursue her venture as a musical star.

Her personality is what has drawn some people to like her - always trying to eat healthy, showing disdain against other Darkstalkers who want to murder each other (her reasoning for fighting is to do it for show, not to actually hurt anyone), and will even show appreciation to opponents in other franchises like Marvel or SNK. She comes across as kind and innocent, not even fully aware of her nakedness, and even starts her own orphanage in order to help unfortunate kids.

Come like a child. That's what's in the Bible, right?
Ryu (Street Fighter) - The Humanitarian Fighter
Most people like Ryu because he's the original Street Fighter, and he appears in every single Street Fighter title and crossover, but for me personally, it goes a bit deeper.

Like Felicia, Ryu was also born an orphan, raised by Gouken, a master martial artist. His philosophy is to use his strengths and weaknesses to better himself. Now, a lot of what Ryu practices is rooted in Shinto and Zen Buddhism, but he's also quite the humanitarian, helping the less fortunate. He also has been bold enough to take on guys bigger than himself - and succeed in defeating them!

Ryu is the embodiment of dedication, persistence, and strength in Capcom's line up of characters, and I respect the character of Ryu. He seems like the cool brother one would never have. Maybe if Ralph Macchio learned how to do the Hadoken, he could've save the failed Street Fighter movies!

...Or maybe Ryu would simply learn the "Wax On, Wax Off" routine. Who knows? 🤔
Cammy (Street Fighter) - The Leggy Lady with Loyalty
I'm not gonna hide it - Cammy is my favorite character to fight as in the Street Fighter series. For the most part, her moves don't change, and she seems very easy to use.

Cammy has somewhat of a tragic backstory, though. She was brainwashed by M. Bison to be part of his sick, twisted militant girl group known simply as the Dolls, one of many evil Shadaloo ventures. She eventually breaks free and joins Delta Red, a military operation in the United Kingdom. Her loyalty to her friends, allies such as Ryu and Chun-Li, and disdain for M. Bison and Shadaloo motivates her to pursue honing in on her fighting skills.

While she does use taunts very much like some of the other characters in Street Fighter, and most promotional art has her in stern, angry poses, story-wise she is a strong, stubborn character who protects and serves, always willing to put herself in harm's way for a friend. She does have some moments of tenderness, including helping a fellow Doll recover in the hospital, which is in contrast to her militant nature.

...And yes, most outfits have her butt cheeks exposed. I guess that makes her appealing to more horny guys, and I do admit she has a nice build and pretty braids, but I also agree with what IGN once stated in an article from almost two decades ago - please Cammy dear, your legs can only take so much torture. Put on some decent pants.
Mega Man (Mega Man) - A Robot with Heart
This one's a no-brainer, actually. Mega Man has been a favorite Capcom character of mine since Mega Man II on Game Boy, The blue bomber, despite being a robot, has a heart of gold, believing in the good of human nature and even willing to sacrifice himself to save real people.

While the whole "robots achieving consciousness and raw emotions" thing will never happen in reality, Mega Man is a good example of understanding that people are important, and no matter how far technology advances, real people are more important than robots. This is made even more evident with the Mega Man X series, where X must fight off rogue robots known as Mavericks, who want to destroy humanity for their own gains instead of save it.

Take THAT, ChatGPT! 😏
Roll (Mega Man) - Just Adorable! 🥰
Awww! What a sweet face!

Believe it or not, Roll is a robot too, not just a girl. She always has Mega Man's back during times of crisis, and her child-like demeanor gives a sort of innocence to the situation. She often hangs out with Auto, a dense but kind-hearted bot, and was built alongside Mega Man as his "sister".

She's one of the more lovable characters in the series, but unfortunately has been sexualized in some form or other. Thankfully, most risque artwork depict her as a young adult, but it's sad to see such an adorable character be treated in this way, even though she isn't real. 😔

Wait a minute... I just realized. Mega Man's Japanese name is "Rockman", and this is Roll. Rock... and Roll. 😯
Dr. Wily (Mega Man) - A Misunderstood Scientist
Okay, look, Dr. Light has the better idea, and I respect him more than Dr. Wily in his motivations to make robots peaceful and humanitarian, but... ehm, maybe he did Dr. Wily a bit of injustice?

Let's give credit to this mad scientist a little bit, even if that means stroking his ego - he's actually a much better programmer and scientist than Dr. Light. The fact that he can create such impressive machines and even repurpose entertainment bots for warfare is nothing more than GENIUS. He can give Dr. Robotnik of Sonic the Hedgehog fame a run for his money.

However, let's step into his shoes for a moment and go back to his college days. You are Dr. Wily, a roboticist, who invented an unit called the Double-Gear System, which can make robots super powerful. You want to make robots more powerful than humans, regardless of whether they are "free-thinking" (read: sentient) or not. For those of you who might not accept the idea of singularity, suspend your beliefs for a moment and think like Wily: If robots can become sentient, perhaps they can do what no human can ever do in order to improve life for humans. By adopting this system, they could move mountains for construction, destroy meteors before they impact Earth, and even harness the power of the sun to resolve any energy crisis!

Ambition and futurism is your goal, but you're not taking into account safety measures that would obviously be needed in order for people not to be harmed. Dr. Light, however, realizes the risk of your invention, and instead of reasoning with you calmly, gets into a heated argument, and eventually thwarts your efforts into progressing further. Betrayed and angry, you plot revenge for what he has done to you. Now, today, you do whatever you can to make Dr. Light's life a living hell, attempting to control the world because you're still lashing out from your sense of betrayal all those years ago.

...Whoa. That's pretty heavy. Maybe Dr. Light should send him flowers? 🤔
Chun-Li (Street Fighter) - The Cop Who Wears a Neat Outfit
Let's be real, here. If you were hired by Interpol, you wouldn't be able to wear just about anything you want, but Chun-Li gets away with wearing a Chinese-inspired blue outfit, spiked bracelets, and brown leggings. How cool is that?

She's also a good all-around people person. When she's not kicking Shadaloo baddies and participating in fighting competition matches, she teaches Kung-Fu to kids. She hangs out a lot with Ryu, Cammy, and Ken Masters, and has even tried to cook (with poor results).

She also has a friendly relationship with Guile, which has made me question whether it could develop into anything romantic, but Capcom suggests... It's just a friendship? They're more like brother and sister, apparently, and Guile ends up marrying someone else anyway. Eh, okay. Whatever. However, if Capcom needs ideas for the next Street Fighter game, perhaps in an alternate universe or something, I've got REALLY good story material here wasting away in the back of my brain...!

Apparently, her legs are her pride and joy, but she doesn't necessarily appreciate being seen as a sex symbol. You can call her legs "inspiring", but don't you DARE call them "thicc"! (Actually, dialogue from World Tour in SF6 suggests "thick", but... well, you know. Internet spelling.)
Zero (Mega Man) - A Story of Redemption
Never let it be said that Zero couldn't overcome the demons of his past and get right with God.

...Wait, this is about a robot. Riiiight. I forget. 🤦🏻‍♂️

However, it's similar in nature to becoming a Christian. Basically, the gods of heaven Dr. Wily created Adam and Eve Zero and injected him with you won't surely die a "Zero Virus", which would then corrupt his soul program him to destroy any God-fearing people Maverick Hunters later after the fall of gods and men Wily's death. However, it takes a whopping from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ X to get him to overcome this influence and see how sinful he was the errors of his ways.

But as they say, "old habits die hard". The whispers disguised as thoughts virus is still within him, see, and even though he is enlisted as an evangelist a Maverick Hunter himself, he then is tricked by the demons of his mind Zero Virus to retaliate and attack his buddy X. Once again, he is defeated, with having to endure the Apocalypse near-fatal consequences, but this time, the virus is gone for good and peace is restored to Earth.

Okay, I did stretch it a little bit, but if you don't see a Mega Man themed allegorical tale, then perhaps you should pick up a Bible and read it! Just sayin'!
Yellow Iris (Battle Circuit) - YASCL (Yet Another Sexy Cat Lady)
If you've never played or even heard of Battle Circuit, you can be forgiven. This arcade game flies under the radar a bit for being campy as - AHEM! I'm not typing that word, but you understand the emphasis. Basically, it's a game about bounty hunters going after a deranged scientist, while also fighting... a WWE-alike wrestler and motorcycle babes. Yeah, this game gets a bit weird.

However, I tried all the characters in Battle Circuit, and I gotta say, the one I was able to do well with was - you guessed it! - the only woman of the game (is Capcom feminist? I wonder sometimes). Well, I think she's a woman. She actually looks like a fox in a skimpy pop star outfit, but whatever. She has very little backstory - she basically is a fashion model with a fox pet named Fin - but her moves are some of the best in the game. Even her fox companion can do attacks on its own! WOW!

Sooo... Battle Circuit 2 coming when? 🤔 I could literally write her story for ya, Capcom. For free. No attribution needed. I could even go by a pen name.

...Man, I'm bored.
Eagle (Street Fighter) - Fighting With Dignity
...Because he has a moustache.

...

Okay, okay. He's also a good guy, really; he helps Guile defeat Shadaloo.

...

Oh by the way, they tried to make him homosexual in Capcom vs. SNK. I have no idea why. 🤨

...

I'm done with this list.
Thank YOU for reading this list!
So, those were my favorite characters Capcom has made! Notice I didn't include Monster Hunter, Phoenix Wright, or Resident Evil. I don't play those games. Ever.

What are your thoughts? Do you think I'm based? Did you agree with anything in this list? Do you realize that this took a month?!? Let me know in the comments below! God bless, and thanks again!

Wow, this guy is pretty disturbing. I don't understand why he wants to shove this Bible crap down our throats and promote his homophobic agenda. What a jerk. I'm gonna have to stop following him.

...Wait a minute. 🤣🤣🤣
