Introduction
Obviously all the info here can be found on the wiki. But I was bored and felt like making this anyway! Someone out there might like having this on a steam guide, who knows?

For your first run, all you'll be able to change is the stone in the main story slot. The other three slots will be filled in with the common magic stone

This imitates the effect of that stone relating to whatever slot it ends up in. So your first run will be pretty limiting but the more you play the game the more varied your load-out will be.

It's probably a bit too early to be making a guide for this game. Odds are there'll be things I'll need to fix or adjust but I think this will be alright for now.

Incident Stones
Scarlet Devil

Main Story/Abnormal Attack
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

Fires a more powerful version of the needles or lasers
Narrow but powerful needles or lasers
Boosts focused shot damage

Creature Red

Main Story
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

Shoots either talismans or magic missles over a very wide area.
Talismans or magic missiles with wide range.
The abnormal attack gauge fills up faster.

Snow Blossom

Main Story
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

Shoots homing amulets or icicles. Disables your main shot while active.
Reimu shoots homing amulets and Marisa fires scattered icicles that with a relatively narrow range
Boosts unfocused shot damage

Blue Season

Main Story
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

Erases all bullets behind you, up to half of the screen. You also get a homing back shot for the duration.
Both gain a forward and backward shot, but Reimu's back shot is homing and Marisa's front shot has a bit more range.
Power items drop more often

Yellow Subterranean

Main Story
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

Protects you from a number of bullets while it lasts. Getting hit lowers the duration.
A wide-range shot. Your options are further out and can deal damage while shooting. Reimu's shot is wider on focus and Marisa's gets narrower on focus.
Grazing bullets can sometimes erase them.

Imperishable Moon

Main Story
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

Options (if the stone is equipped to a shot) can turn bullets into revenge shots. If the duration runs out or you get hit, all bullets on screen become revenge shots that heavily damage enemies.
Fires a flurry of arrows straight ahead. Your options slowly drift around and have a chance to erase bullets. The only shot that is the same for both characters.
Your options passively gain a chance to erase enemy bullets on contact.

Beast Hardiness

Main Story
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

You get a bomb fragment if you don't get hit before the timer runs out
Reimus' shots are v-shaped and Marisas' go straight ahead. Focusing locks your options in place.
Incident Enemies take more damage from your attacks.

Shintoism Wind

Main Story
Wide/Narrow Shot
Assist

Fires a circle straight ahead that damages enemies and erases bullets.
Reimu gets Sanae's homing snakes and Marisa gets Sanae's exploding frogs
Abnormal Attacks last longer.

Abnormality Attack Gauges
Some thoughts and tips
You don't have to actually 1cc the game to unlock a stone. Apparently all you need to do is get past stage 3 for that (Haven't tested it myself). But either way you can continue, beat the game, get the bad ending and still get something out of it.

Regardless of what main stone you pick, having an Abnormal Attack active prevents the loss of a life. You fail any spell card you were trying to capture, though.

The Creature Red stone as passive pairs particularly well with Shintoism Wind as an active stone with its really short gauge.

Whether a stone is set to wide or narrow, it doesn't change the damage directly. But the formation or range might make the difference. There are some shots where the change is fairly minimal. Like Marisa and the Snow Blossom stone.

The incident enemies were nerfed since the days of the demo; they no longer shoot bullets during boss fights. But they do clear out all on-screen bullets so Beast Hardiness might be decently passively but I'm not sure if it'd better to use that over Scarlet Devil/Snow Blossom for the general damage increase.

I think Scarlet Devil's and Creature Red's passive effect are swapped, because with Creature Red focused attacks become visually bigger, which is something you'd expect from Scarlet Devil.

It depends of the bullet I think, because if you get hit by Toyohime's lasers or almost any bullet that the moon stone abnormal attack can't erase you straight up lose a life.

Nonetheless it's a very informative guide.
