BLACKSOULS – Complete Walkthrough with Lore Notes
由 EdenGenesisWs 制作
A comprehensive walkthrough for BLACKSOULS -黒の童話と五魔姫-.
This guide covers gameplay basics, the morality system, heroine routes, twisted fairy-tale lore, and all available endings.

Whether you’re looking for tips to survive early bosses, want to learn how to recruit (or lose) heroines, or wish to uncover the hidden truths about Mary Sue and the Lost Empire, everything is explained step by step.

Who is this guide for?
→ New players who need direction to progress
→ Veterans who want to explore the game’s darker mechanics and story in detail

⚠️ Warning: This is a full walkthrough and contains major story and ending spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Note: This walkthrough was originally written from my notes on the Japanese release, which means some terms may differ from the English version. For example, I used “gold” instead of “souls,” since souls act mainly as the game’s currency for leveling and purchasing items. I plan to adjust these terms in future updates. If the guide receives enough positive ratings, I’ll also add screenshots to improve clarity.

  • A step-by-step walkthrough (Prologue → Endgame)

⚠️ Spoiler Warning:
This guide contains heavy story and gameplay spoilers. If you want to experience BLACKSOULS blind, I recommend only checking specific sections when stuck.

Why this guide?

BLACKSOULS is not a typical dark fantasy RPG. It blends Souls-like difficulty, adult content, and twisted fairy tales into a unique experience. My goal here is to make your journey smoother while keeping the thrill of discovery intact.
🟢Getting Started
Before diving into the twisted fairy-tale world of BLACKSOULS, here are the key things you need to know when beginning your adventure:

🔤 Name Entry
You must enter a name for your character.
The name has no gameplay effect—choose freely.

⚔️ Class Selection
Your starting class only matters for the early game. Later you can change equipment and stats freely, so don’t stress too much. Still, some classes make the Prologue and first bosses much easier than others.

Class
Weapon
Advantages
Drawbacks
Thief
Dagger
High Speed, Multi-hit, Best early damage, Can defeat Drake Helkaiser easily
Low defense and HP
Warrior
Long Sword
Balanced stats, Reliable in mid-game
Weaker start than Thief
Mage
Staff
Powerful spells early, Strong MP growth
Fragile, relies on items

✅ Recommended Start: Thief. Thanks to high Speed and the dagger’s multi-hit, you can defeat the Drake Helkaiser in the Prologue. This rewards you with 8,000 Souls and the Drake Sword, giving you a massive early advantage.

🔓 Unlockable Classes
Later in the game, you’ll also unlock additional classes that expand your playstyle. These are not available at character creation, but become accessible with progression or NG+:

Class
Weapon
Advantages
Drawbacks
Cleric
Mace
Healing skills, Safer for cautious play
Low offense, slow solo progress
Hunter
Bow
Good ranged combat, useful vs flying enemies
Limited arrows, weak melee

🎁 Starting Items
Your starting gift can change your early-game experience. Most options are weak, but one stands out:

Item
Effect
Usefulness
Master Key
Unlocks many doors early
🔥 Best choice. Saves time and opens shortcuts/boss fights early
Candy
Gift for Hansel & Gretel
Situational; useful only for their questline
Other Items
Minor consumables
Largely forgettable — don’t bother

📖 Story Skip Option
At the start, you’ll be asked whether to skip the Prologue. This choice determines your opening area:

Don’t Skip → Start in the Dungeon.
 - Harder at first, but you can defeat the Drake Helkaiser for 8,000 Souls + Drake Sword.
 - Recommended if you want a huge early advantage.

Skip → Start directly in the Holy Forest.
 - Easier start, but you lose the opportunity for the Drake’s rewards.

⚔️ Tip: Always save often and explore carefully. BLACKSOULS is an open-world RPG—decisions, boss fights, and even small actions can permanently alter your playthrough.

Main Walkthrough – Zone by Zone
🏰 Zone 0 – イヴェルン砦 (Fort Ivern / Prologue)
The Prologue begins inside Fort Ivern’s prison if you choose “Don’t Skip” at the start. It introduces Alice, Jeanne d’Arc, and the first boss, Drake Helkaiser (ドレイク・ヘルカイザー). This path is harder than skipping, but it grants powerful rewards that permanently strengthen your run.

📖 Talking to Alice

  • At the very start, you meet Alice (アリス) in a strange library.
  • She asks you to:
     - Enter your name
     - Choose a class: Knight / Thief / Sorcerer
     - Pick a gift: Master Key, Life Ring, Candy, or Divine Blessing
  • Alice also asks if you want to enable adult content (H-scenes).
  • She ends by reminding you that you are the protagonist before the story begins.
Recommended Choices:
- Class → Thief (シーフ): High Speed and multi-hit dagger attacks make Drake Helkaiser manageable.
- Gift → Master Key (マスターキー): Unlocks shortcuts and NPC events very early, saves farming effort.

If you choose Skip Prologue, you’ll spawn directly in the Holy Forest (Zone 1).

⛓️ Escaping Jail

  • You wake inside a locked cell. Nearby enemies include:
     - Executioner Pigs (処刑豚) → drop 10 Souls each
     - Hollows (ホロウ) → drop 5 Souls each
  • Jeanne d’Arc appears, kills some pigs, and leaves you the chance to escape.
  • Loot the Dungeon Key from a dead Executioner Pig to unlock your cell.
  • You can farm Souls a little here before proceeding.
  • Explore briefly, but the main path leads out of the dungeon toward Jeanne.

⚔️ Together with Jeanne

  • Outside your cell, you meet Holy Knight Jeanne d’Arc properly for the first time.
  • She explains the spreading fog and her mission to investigate the Lost Empire.
  • Jeanne offers to protect you and briefly joins as you traverse Fort Ivern’s halls.
  • At the exit, a massive purple dragon descends. Jeanne is burned alive before your eyes.
  • You must now fight the first boss: Drake Helkaiser.

🐉 Drake Helkaiser Strategy

  • His charged strikes deal over half your HP.
  • Use Evade or Parry when his attack gauge fills.
  • Punish him with normal weapon strikes between attacks.
  • Patience is essential — rushing leads to death.
  • Best Class → Thief: Speed and multi-hits give a huge advantage.

🎁 Rewards
Item
Effect
竜殺しの剣 (Drake Sword)
Strong weapon that lasts well into mid-game.
鉱石の塊 (Ore Chunk)
Used for weapon reinforcement.
黒いソウル (Black Soul)
Boosts all stats when consumed.
8000 Souls
Early boost — invest at the Prayer Master in the Holy Forest.

⚠️ Even if you win, Jeanne always dies. You’ll awaken in the Holy Forest afterwards.

💰 Optional Early Farming
  • Executioner Pigs (10 Souls each) and Hollows (5 Souls each) can be farmed safely before fighting Drake Helkaiser.
  • Respawn by resting at the Bonfire to repeat farming.
  • Useful if you’re struggling with the boss and want a few early levels.

👉 Next Zone: Zone 1 – 聖なる森 (Holy Forest Hub)
🌳 Zone 1 – 聖なる森 (Holy Forest / Hub)
The Sacred Forest is the central hub of BLACKSOULS, connecting nearly every path and NPC. It functions as your safe base where you’ll level up, recruit companions, and prepare for harder zones.

Leaf & Elisabeth
リーフ / エリザベート
Recruit Leaf early; Elisabeth appears after 3 Princesses are defeated/covenanted.
East
Behemoth Ranch → Helsa Desert
ベヒーモス牧場 / ヘルサ砂漠
Route to Goose, Bremen Band, Tin Man, and eventually the desert.
West
Forest of Abandoned → Witch’s House / Sea of Trash
見捨てられた森 / 魔女の家 / ゴミの海
Critical story path; leads to Dorothy and multiple Princess events.

🪙 Key Actions
  • Level Up at the Prayer Priest (祈りの司祭) in the center.
  • Equip Drake Sword if you cleared the Prologue.
  • Defeat the Brokenhearted Hero at the lakeside for the Reckless Warrior’s Ring.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Companions
  • Leaf – Recruited instantly if you talk to her in the north.
  • Goose – Freed at Behemoth Ranch (#5) and later relocates here.
  • Elisabeth – Spawns north after defeating 3 Princesses; requires her lost ring to recruit.
⚔️ Tip: Always return here after clearing a zone. It’s your “home base” where you check on companions, level up, and prepare for the next stage.
🍂 Zone 2 – 見捨てられた森 (Forest of Abandoned)
This is one of the first major exploration areas after the Sacred Forest (#1). It connects to the Witch’s House (#4), Behemoth Ranch (#5), and the Sea of Trash (#12). Many important events and companions are tied here, but it’s also full of traps if you’re not careful.

East
Sea of Trash (#12)

South
Sacred Forest (#1)
Main route back to hub

⚔️ Enemies & Effects
  • Enemies here drop useful Colored Souls (Red = STR, Blue = INT, Green = AGI, Yellow = LUK, White = Heal). You can either use them to boost stats or sell them for Souls depending on your strategy.
  • ⚠️ Be careful when picking up ground items. Some trigger poison or story events (e.g. Hansel & Gretel’s corruption).
  • The area has a lingering Poison effect if you stay too long.

🧩 Key Events
  • Meet Adaman (赤いベンチの男) — found sitting on a red bench near the start. Do not kill him. He plays a role later.
  • Talking Flower — found top-right. Talking to it unlocks the ability to assault Fairies in the Holy Forest (not recommended yet).
  • Shortcut — knock down a tree over the lake in the bottom-right to open a faster route.
  • Scarecrow — appears here only after accepting Dorothy’s quest. Required to recruit her.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Companions & NPCs
  • Dorothy (via Witch’s House, #4) — requires defeating the Scarecrow here as part of her quest.
  • Elisabeth’s Ring — later in the game, a Fairy in this area drops Elisabeth’s lost ring. This is required to recruit her.
  • Goose Path — this zone links directly to the Sea of Trash (#12), where Goose relocates if her conditions are met.

🎯 Tips
- Always light the Bonfire before pushing deeper into the forest.
- Avoid killing Adaman or random NPCs until you know their role.
- Prioritize unlocking the Witch’s House (#4) — it’s a central quest hub.

👉 Next zone from here: Witch’s House (#4) — where you meet Hansel, Gretel, and Dorothy.
🏠 Zone 3 – 魔女の家 (Witch’s House)
This is one of the most important early zones, because it introduces Hansel & Gretel, Dorothy, and several quests that connect to other areas. It’s also full of traps if you pick items recklessly.

🗺️ Layout & Exits
Exit

Notes
South
Forest of Abandoned (#2)
Main access point into the Witch’s House
North
Warehouse
Locked area requiring Master Key; contains the Lion (Dorothy’s quest)

⚠️ Hazards
  • Ground Items – Do not pick them up immediately. Several are cursed (e.g. Poisoned Bread). Taking them too early corrupts Hansel & Gretel.
  • Monsterization Triggers – Attacking Hansel & Gretel will immediately transform them into monsters. Avoid combat if you want to keep them alive.

🧩 Key Events
  • Hansel & Gretel – Found on the 1F. Talk to them; they will ask for Candy. If you already sold yours, don’t worry, you’ll get another from the warehouse later.
  • Dorothy – Found on the 2F.
     - Buy the grimoires Soul Radiance and Soul Burst (必須 for Snow White fight later).
     - Accept her apprenticeship. She will give you a quest to eliminate her three ex-apprentices.
  • Wilt – An NPC outside the house. Speak with him but do not kill him. He later provides 5,000 Souls and asks you to fetch Medicine.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Companions & NPCs

Notes
Dorothy
Kill Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man
Becomes a recruitable companion once all three are dead
Hansel & Gretel
Give Candy before they corrupt
They are not permanent companions, but can be kept alive if you avoid mistakes
Wilt
Speak to him outside the Witch’s House
Do not kill him; provides Souls and quest later

🎯 Tips
- Always save before exploring the Warehouse; the Lion inside is tough if you go unprepared.

- Buying Dorothy’s spells is highly recommended even if you don’t plan to use her as a companion yet.

- Keep at least one Candy for Hansel & Gretel to prevent their early corruption.

👉 Next destination after clearing this area: Behemoth Ranch (#5), where you’ll encounter the Bremen Band and continue Dorothy’s quest.
🐐 Zone 4 – ベヒーモス牧場 (Behemoth Ranch)
A deceptively peaceful-looking pasture, but in reality one of the most eventful zones in the early game. It ties directly into Dorothy’s questline, the Goose event, and houses one of the most useful rewards in the entire game: the skill Hidden Body.

🗺️ Layout & Exits

Notes
West
Forest of Abandoned (#2)

North
Jacob Mine (#8)
Unlocked later, after defeating Bremen and progressing Dorothy’s quest

🧩 Key Events
  • Tin Man (ドロシーの元弟子) – Found inside the Ranch. He is one of Dorothy’s 3 ex-apprentices. Defeat him to progress her questline.
  • Heartless Tin Soldier – Tougher than most early enemies, but summoning Leaf makes the fight easier.
  • The Bremen Band (ブレーメンの楽団) – Boss encounter behind a white fog door. Avoid at first; if you enter too early, it can ruin your run. Once strong enough, defeat them to receive the grimoire Hidden Body (隠形).
  • The Goose (ガチョウ) – Found trapped. Free her, then later deposit 1000 Souls at her bank. After certain events, she relocates to the Sea of Trash (#12).
  • Bonfire – Located in the center of the ranch. Activate for fast travel and recovery.

Goose
Free her, deposit 1000 Souls, later forgive/condemn her at tent in Sea of Trash (#12)

Essential for unlocking her as a companion later

🎁 Rewards & Items

Usefulness
Hidden Body Grimoire
Dropped after defeating Bremen Band
🔥 Extremely valuable. Makes monsters ignore you, trivializing exploration
Souls (varies)
Loot from enemies and Bremen Band
Can be reinvested into Leaf or MC for a major early boost

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Do NOT enter fog walls early. Several bosses here (especially Bremen Band) can ruin progression if fought too soon.

- Always keep Souls handy for Goose. If you forget to deposit, her questline may break.

- After acquiring Hidden Body, exploration across all zones becomes significantly safer — use it frequently.

👉 Next destination after clearing Behemoth Ranch: Return to the Forest of Abandoned (#2) to continue Dorothy’s quest, then head towards the Sewers (#6).
💧 Zone 5 – 下水道 (Sewers)
A dark and dangerous underground passage that connects the Forest of Abandoned (#2) and Rotten Burg (#6). While the enemies here are manageable, this area is crucial because of the Pied Piper boss and its effect on companion recruitment.

East
Rotten Burg (#6)
Leads directly into the cursed city. No return once you pass certain events

🧩 Key Events
  • Pied Piper (ハーメルンの笛吹き) – Mid-boss of the sewers. If left alive, he prevents you from saving the Match Girl later. Defeating him is strongly recommended.
  • Master Key – A guaranteed drop can be found here, useful for unlocking later shortcuts.
  • Yellow Souls – Some monsters here drop these special Souls, which increase Speed when consumed (instead of selling them). Always use on yourself.
  • Clown NPC – Strange character who wanders around; can be ignored for now.

🎯 Tips

- Use Hidden Body (from Bremen Band at Behemoth Ranch) if you already obtained it — it makes exploring the sewers much safer.

- Always spend Yellow Souls on Speed. The stat is crucial for surviving future boss ambushes.

👉 After clearing the sewers and killing Pied Piper, proceed east into Rotten Burg (#6).
🏚️ Zone 6 – 腐敗した街 (Rotten Burg)

East
Fort Ivern (#8)

🧩 Key Events
  • Brothel Encounter – At the lower left, you can find a prostitute NPC. For 10,000 Souls, you can view her scene. Alternatively, killing her grants the Knight Sword +3 but also adds Sin.
  • Elma’s Shop (エルマ) – Found near the Bonfire in Rotten Burg. You must visit her shop twice (before and after defeating the Iron King) to keep her alive. If ignored too long, she will be corrupted and lost.
  • Snake Event – After progressing far enough, a snake will appear at Elma’s shop. If you don’t save her in time, she dies. You must first kill the Pied Piper (#5) to make saving her possible.
  • Iron King (鉄の王) – The main boss of Rotten Burg. Defeating him is required to advance to Fort Ivern (#8). He resides behind a fog gate in the House of Truth.

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Always check on Elma frequently. If she dies, her route is permanently lost.

- Visiting Elma after defeating the Iron King is mandatory to save her.

- If the Snake event triggers, save before entering and handle it correctly — otherwise Elma is lost.

- The prostitute’s Knight Sword +3 is strong, but adds Sin. Consider carefully.

👉 After dealing with Rotten Burg, and once the Iron King is defeated, proceed east to Fort Ivern (#8).
🏰 Zone 7 – イヴェルン砦 (Fort Ivern)

  • Rabbit Knight – Locked in a prison cell. Freeing him costs a Master Key, but he plays a minor role. Optional.
  • Izu – A wandering swordsman found imprisoned here. Free him to progress his questline.
  • Lop’s Blacksmith Access – Unlockable shortcut through the fort that leads toward Behemoth Ranch (#5).

🎯 Tips

- If low on Master Keys, prioritize Izu and Jeanne’s Ashes over optional prisoners.

- The Ugly Duckling can be skipped, but defeating it provides lore and some extra Souls.

- Saving Izu ensures smoother progression into Elixir Town (#9).

👉 After clearing Fort Ivern, your next major destination is Elixir Town (#9).
⛪ Zone 8 – エリクサーの町 (Elixir Town & Cathedral)

  • L Mi’raj – Can be found here as part of Izu’s questline. Progression with him influences late-game endings.
  • Keto the Shaman – Not here directly, but Elixir Town is the stepping stone toward Skeleton Maze (#10) where Keto resides. Jeanne’s ashes become relevant soon after this zone.

Useful for high-level upgrades or selling for large Soul gains

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Revive Jeanne before focusing on Catherine. If Jeanne is not brought back, Catherine cannot be saved.

- Stock up on supplies here — the next zones (Skeleton Maze & Filth Swamp) are much harsher with SAN drain and powerful enemies.

- Patrasche is not too hard compared to Iron King, but prepare healing items as his AoE can overwhelm unprepared builds.

- Don’t skip Izu and L Mi’raj — both are tied to endings and late-game lore.

👉 After finishing Elixir Town and its Cathedral, your next path is east into the Skeleton Maze (#10), where Jeanne’s resurrection becomes central.
💀 Zone 9 – 骸骨迷宮 (Skeleton Maze)
A maze-like cavern filled with undead, traps, and lore-heavy NPCs. This is one of the most important mid-game zones, since it’s where Jeanne d’Arc can be resurrected with Keto’s help. Expect SAN drain, strong monsters, and branching paths that can easily confuse you.

🧩 Key Events
  • Keto the Shaman (ケト) – Located in the northern caverns. To resurrect Jeanne, bring him her ashes (遺灰) from Fort Ivern (#7) and the Tentacle Relic (dropped in Dust Sea).
  • Jeanne d’Arc Resurrection (ジャンヌ・ダルク) – Once you give Keto both items, Jeanne will be resurrected. Do not attack her, or she’ll be lost forever.
  • Saint Girl Event – After defeating the Monsterized Saint Guard deeper inside, the Saint Girl awakens. Initially she prays in the Cathedral (#8), but Jeanne is required to convince her to join you.
  • Optional Bosses – The Iron Hans and Fool Prince lurk in the upper caverns, both tied to Fairy Tale Books. Approach carefully, as they deal heavy SAN damage.

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Timing is critical – You must resurrect Jeanne before covenanting with or killing 3 Princesses, or her route locks permanently.

- Bring plenty of SAN recovery items, as this zone drains sanity faster than most.

- Defeating the optional bosses here early is risky — save them for when you have stronger gear and higher SAN resistance.

- Jeanne + Saint Girl are two of the strongest support companions if saved. Don’t miss them.

👉 Once Jeanne and Saint Girl’s routes are secured, proceed east into the Filth Swamp (#11), where Miranda and the Frog Princess await.
☠️ Zone 10 – 穢れの沼 (Filth Swamp / Tainted Bog)
A corrupted swamp filled with poison, SAN drain, and two major encounters: Miranda the Condemner and the Frog Princess. This area is punishing if you enter unprepared, but it’s crucial for companions, Fairy Tale Books, and progression.

🗺️ Layout & Exits

Notes
West
Skeleton Maze (#9)
Main entry point into the swamp
South
Holy Forest (#1)
Backtracking route; useful if you need to restock supplies
East
Sea of Trash (#12)
Secondary progression path; unlocked later

🧩 Key Events
  • Miranda Encounter – If you have 5+ Sin, Miranda will spawn as a boss fight. Defeat her to recruit her as a companion. She is extremely fast and requires high Speed (~200+) to outspeed. Losing to her leads to a bad end.
  • Frog Princess (カエル姫) – Located deeper inside the swamp. She offers a covenant, but each “kiss” reduces your level by 30. This pact is considered a trap and not recommended. Best option is to kill her and claim her Fairy Tale Book.
  • Poison & SAN Drain – Nearly all tiles inflict poison or sanity loss. Stock up on Antidotes and SAN-restoring items before entering.
  • Bonfire – Located near the torch-lit entrance. Always light it, since respawning far away makes this swamp unbearable.

Notes
Miranda
Have 5+ Sin, defeat her in battle, invite her afterward
Powerful companion with unique lore. Losing the fight = Game Over
Frog Princess

Her pact is a level-draining trap. Kill her to get her Fairy Tale Book (#11)

🎁 Rewards & Items
Item
How to Obtain
Usefulness
Fairy Tale Book: Frog Prince
Dropped by the Frog Princess
Required for Ending C (Fairy Tale Completion)
Ore & Alchemy Materials
Scattered in swamp tiles
Good for upgrading weapons before Rotten Burg (#6) and Fort Ivern (#7)
Desert Rose
Rare drop inside swamp paths
Keep it — required later, do not sell

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Miranda is missable if you don’t raise Sin high enough before clearing later zones. Make sure you trigger her here.

- The Frog Princess pact is essentially a “punishment route.” Unless role-playing, always kill her instead.

- Equip items or rings that reduce poison damage and SAN drain before exploring.

- Farming here is not recommended — the poison and SAN make it inefficient compared to Green Worms (#optional).

👉 Once you’ve recruited Miranda and dealt with the Frog Princess, continue east toward the Sea of Trash (#12) to progress the main story and Goose’s route.
🌊 Zone 11 – ゴミの海 (Sea of Trash)
A desolate coastal wasteland filled with debris, corrupted creatures, and one of the most important bosses in the game: the Kraken. This area also ties closely to Goose’s storyline and Jeanne’s resurrection questline.

West
Forest of Abandoned (#3)
Main entry path, unlocked early
East
Atlantica (#15)
Accessible after Kraken is defeated and progression flags are met

🧩 Key Events
  • Kraken Boss – The main boss here, found behind a fog wall. Defeating it is mandatory to progress Jeanne’s questline (#9 Skeleton Maze).
  • Goose’s Tent Event – After depositing 1000 Souls at her bank (#5 Behemoth Ranch), Goose will later relocate here. When she appears in a tent, you must choose “Do not forgive her” to recruit her as a companion. Choosing otherwise will lock her out permanently.
  • Companion Progression – Goose’s route and Jeanne’s revival both hinge on completing events in this zone. Skipping or delaying the Kraken too long may break these sequences.

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Always save before the Kraken fight — it’s one of the tougher early bosses.

- Goose’s tent event is easy to miss. Check this zone regularly after advancing princess routes.

- Defeating the Kraken early secures Jeanne’s revival and simplifies mid-game progression.

- Equip poison/SAN resistance before exploring. Though not as bad as the Swamp (#10), some enemies here inflict corruption.

👉 After defeating the Kraken and resolving Goose’s event, you can proceed east toward Atlantica (#15) and the Mermaid Princess storyline.
🏜️ Zone 12 – ヘルサ砂漠 (Helsa Desert)
A scorching desert filled with hidden treasures, dangerous enemies, and quest-critical items. This zone is directly tied to Rapunzel’s Phantom Rose quest, the Frog Princess, and several Fairy Tale Books. Exploration here can be punishing if unprepared.

Southeast
Garden of Snow / Snow White’s Castle (#14)

🧩 Key Events
  • Phantom Rose (幻の薔薇) – Rapunzel (#4 Witch’s Tower) requires this item. It is hidden in a patch of grass northwest of the oasis. Essential for completing her quest.
  • Big White Animal – Near the desert entrance, you can milk her (3× is enough). Milk isn’t mandatory but helps survival.
  • Frog Princess (カエルの姫) – Found deep in the swampy part of the desert. Each kiss drains 30+ levels. Pacting with her is considered a trap — recommended to kill her instead.
  • Aladdin Event – Southwest desert zone hosts Aladdin, tied to his Fairy Tale Book. Optional mini-boss encounter.
  • Desert Flower – A unique glowing flower appears in a cactus patch. Do not sell — it is required for a late-game event.

Fairy Tale Book: Aladdin and the Magic Lamp (アラジンと魔法のランプ)

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ The Phantom Rose can be very easy to miss — check carefully around the oasis grass.

- Always grab the Desert Flower. Selling it is a common mistake that locks later progress.

- Frog Princess pact is intentionally punishing. Unless roleplaying, kill her.

- If struggling with exploration, bring Hidden Body (from Bremen Band #5) to avoid constant battles.

👉 Once you finish here, the natural progression leads southeast into the Garden of Snow / Snow White’s Castle (#14).
🏰 Zone 13 – 白雪姫の城 (Snow White’s Castle)

Filth Swamp (#10)

Upper Floors
Wonderland (#17)
Unlocked by progressing through the castle. Leads to Alice’s route and additional Fairy Tale Books.

🧩 Key Events
  • Castle Exploration – Enemies here are extremely dangerous. Using Hidden Body (隠密) greatly reduces encounters.
  • Frozen Throne Room – Encounter with Snow White (白雪姫). You can either form a covenant with her or kill her.
  • Fairy Tale Book – Found on 2F. Killing Snow White grants her Fairy Tale Book, required for Ending C.
  • Donkey King (ロバの王) – Spawns after defeating Snow White. A tough optional fight that provides valuable loot.

👑 Snow White (白雪姫) – Strategy
  • Human Form – Almost completely resistant to physical damage and Ice Bullet.
  • Correct Strategy – Use Soul Radiance or Soul Burst, both bought from Dorothy (#3 Witch’s House).
  • Covenant Option – Possible, but the conditions are harsh and the benefits minor. Often considered a trap.
  • Kill Option – Strongly recommended. Killing her gives the Fairy Tale Book needed for Ending C and simplifies progression.

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Do not face Snow White without Soul Radiance/Soul Burst. Standard attacks and Ice Bullet are useless.

- Killing her is the most reliable option; her covenant is highly punishing.

- Don’t forget the Fairy Tale Book on 2F and the Atlantica Invitation hidden in the castle, which unlocks Zone #15.

- After defeating Snow White, the Donkey King becomes available—fight him for powerful loot.

👉 After clearing the castle, proceed to Wonderland (#17) to continue with Alice’s arc and collect more Fairy Tale Books.
🌊 Zone 14 – アトランティカ (Atlantica)
A drowned city hidden beneath the sea, accessible only after unlocking the Atlantica Invitation found in Snow White’s Castle (#13). This area is both visually striking and extremely dangerous, featuring the Mermaid Princess (人魚姫), one of the Five Demon Princesses (五魔姫), and several late-game bosses.

Beach Access
Sacred Forest Coast (#1)
Use the Atlantica Invitation at the penta seal on the beach to descend underwater.
Palace Gates
Mermaid Princess’s Throne Room
Final area of Atlantica; covenant or kill the Mermaid Princess here.

🧩 Key Events
  • Atlantica Invitation – Found in Snow White’s Castle (#13). Without it, the penta seal at the beach remains locked.
  • Underwater Exploration – Normal movement is slowed, and SAN drain is constant. Keep restorative items ready.
  • Kraken Rematch – A powerful sea monster lurks in the ruins. Defeating it grants rare loot and advances Jeanne’s questline if not already completed (#9 Skeleton Maze).
  • Mermaid Princess (人魚姫) – The main boss of Atlantica. Like Snow White, she offers a choice between pact or death.

🐚 Mermaid Princess (人魚姫) – Strategy
  • Human Form – Has permanent perfect Dodge. No attacks will land until she transforms.
  • Trigger Transformation – Defend and stall until she reveals her monster form.
  • Monster Form – Vulnerable to magic. Use Ice Bullet or Soul Burst to shred her health.
  • Covenant Option – Costs a max-level heroine sacrifice. Extremely punishing; rarely recommended.
  • Kill Option – Preferred route. Killing her grants her Fairy Tale Book (required for Ending C).

🎯 Tips
- ⚠️ Do not attack the Mermaid Princess in human form — every strike will miss.

- Killing her is strongly recommended for progression and Ending C. The pact costs too much.

- Stock up on SAN restoration items before exploring Atlantica; the underwater sections drain heavily.

- The Kraken is optional but worth fighting for rare loot and Jeanne’s questline.

👉 Once Atlantica is cleared, return to the Lost Empire (#16) to continue toward the endgame.
👑 Zone 15 – 失われた帝国 (Lost Empire)
The final stretch of BLACKSOULS, the Lost Empire is a cursed land where reality collapses, fairy tales end in tragedy, and the truth of Cinderella unfolds. This zone features multiple branching routes, major bosses, and the last opportunities to influence your ending.

Final Chamber
Cinderella’s Throne
Leads to the final showdown and ending selection.

🧩 Key Events
  • Beauty & the Beast (美女と野獣) – Found early inside the Lost Empire. Defeat them to proceed. You can spare the Beast by violating him; otherwise, he is executed at the gallows.
  • Pumpkin Carriage (パンプキン馬車) – Acts as a mid-boss blocking progress. Dropping it opens the path to the deeper Empire.
  • Sighing Garden (嘆きの庭) – Contains the powerful grimoire “Storm of Ruin (破滅の嵐)” — a must-have for late bosses.
  • Memory Hall (記憶の間) – Crucial for Cinderella’s son’s storyline. If you bring his skin here, you unlock a special cutscene and CG.
  • Looping Maze (迷宮の回廊) – An intentionally disorienting area; progress only by carefully mapping your path.
  • Cinderella (シンデレラ) – Final Demon Princess. She embodies the mist’s corruption and determines which ending you reach.

👑 Cinderella (シンデレラ) – Strategy
  • Phase 1 – Heavy physical strikes, but manageable with high Speed and Dodge.
  • Phase 2 – Inflicts SAN drain and summons illusions. Use high MP spells like Storm of Ruin.
  • Final Choice – After her defeat, you must decide how to respond. Choosing “Everyone Together” (みんな一緒に) leads to Ending A. Other choices branch into bad ends or Collapse.

🧩 Key Events
  • Bandersnatch (バンダースナッチ) – A mandatory boss. Known for very high Speed and SAN attacks. Dodge or outspeed is essential.
  • Cheshire Cat (チェシャ猫) – Optional encounter. Can be fought or ignored; defeating it yields rare loot.
  • Alice (アリス) – Found in the deepest part of Wonderland. She can be recruited, but depending on choices, she can also trigger some of the darkest bad ends.

  • Phase 2 – Transforms into a stronger form with heavy SAN drain and reality-bending attacks.

- Killing Alice is the safest option if you want Ending C, but experimenting with her covenant reveals unique lore.

Tips & Tricks
Here are some useful strategies to make your journey in BLACKSOULS smoother:

💰 Farming & Economy
  • Green Worm Farming – Found north of the Sacred Forest (#1).
     - Extremely high Dodge makes normal attacks unreliable.
     - Use Ice Bullet (魔法) to guarantee hits.
     - Reward: ~10,000 Souls per kill.
     - Reset at a Bonfire to restore MP and Herb Bottles.
  • Nemesis Dragon & other Drakes – Early Drake (Prologue) drops 8,000 Souls, later versions can drop up to 40k+.
  • Giant Black Demon (Desert) – Optional boss. Defeating him yields ~65,000 Souls.

📜 Recommended Spells
  • Ice Bullet – Core offensive magic, mandatory against high-dodge enemies like Worms.
  • Soul Radiance & Soul Burst – Learned from Dorothy (#4), essential for Snow White.
  • Storm of Ruin – Found in the Sighing Garden, strong late-game AoE spell.
  • Hidden Body (隠密) – Obtained after defeating the Bremen Band (#5). Makes enemies ignore you outside combat; crucial for Rotten Burg & Old Rotten Burg.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Useful Companions
  • Leaf – Scales extremely well if you invest Souls early; can carry the game.
  • Dorothy – Unlocks key magic and provides powerful spell support.
  • Match Girl (Elma) – Versatile utility and event-dependent power.
  • Jeanne d’Arc – Supportive and mandatory for Catherine’s recruitment.
  • Rapunzel – Her covenant ring grants an extra action each turn, making it the only pact generally considered worth keeping.

⚔️ General Advice
  • Save frequently, especially before opening treasure chests—many are Mimics.
  • Most Demon Princess pacts are traps. Kill them for their Fairy Tale Books instead.
  • Manage Sin carefully. At 5+ Sin, Miranda appears, and Black Vanguard Lindamea may ambush you.

⚠️ Missing any of these conditions can permanently lock you out of companions or endings (especially Ending A – True End).
Five Demon Princesses (五魔姬)
Rapunzel
→ Proud but sincere. Can genuinely fall in love. Her favor gives one of the strongest buffs (extra action).

Frog Princess
→ Lives in the swamp. Each kiss costs you 30 levels. Dangerous but recruitable.

Mermaid Princess
→ In Atlantis. Demands the sacrifice of a max-level heroine. Commonly players sacrifice Lief.

Snow White
→ Hides in Snow White Castle. Requires killing the other princesses before pledging. Often killed instead.

Cinderella
→ Queen of the Lost Empire, the source of the mist. Canon main boss of the normal route.

Each Demon Princess offers a pact, but most are traps.

Strategy Summary
  • Rapunzel – The only recommended pact. Required for Ending A. Quest: retrieve the Phantom Rose in the desert. Reward: strongest ring.
  • Frog Princess – Pact adds pressure with little benefit. Strongly recommended to kill her.
  • Mermaid Princess – Human form has perfect Dodge. Must wait until she transforms. Pact is punishing → better to kill her.
  • Snow White – Pact requirements are strict. Ice Bullet doesn’t work—use Dorothy’s Soul magic instead. Pact is high risk, often skipped.
  • Miranda (The Condemner) – Found in the Filth Swamp. Extremely fast (200+ Speed needed). Can be recruited if defeated. Not needed for Fairy Tale Ending.
Fairy Tale Books
To unlock Ending C, you must collect all Fairy Tale Books hidden across the world.
Here is the complete checklist of their locations:
  • Forsaken Forest – Jack and the Beanstalk
  • Witch’s House – Hansel and Gretel
  • Sewers – The Pied Piper of Hamelin
  • True House – The Naked King
  • Lost Empire Gate – The Armored Knight
  • Lost Empire (Beauty’s Room)– Beauty and the Beast
  • Queen’s Chamber – The North Wind and the Sun
  • Dungeon (Underground Jail) – The Ugly Duckling
  • Bremen House – The Bremen Town Musicians
  • Behemoth Ranch (Pig’s House Ruins) – The Three Little Pigs
  • Rapunzel’s Tower (2F) – Peter Pan
  • Great Cathedral – The Elixir Dog
  • Skeleton Labyrinth (Mountain Area) – The Singing Bone
  • Skeleton Labyrinth (Mountain Area) – Iron Hans
  • Secret Garden – The Tortoise and the Hare
  • Helser Desert – Aladdin and the Magic Lamp
  • Snow White Castle (2F) – The King with Donkey Ears
  • Poseidon Hotel – Pinocchio
  • Poseidon Hotel – The Adventures of Sinbad
  • Red Riding Hood’s House – Little Red Riding Hood
  • Wonderland – Alice in Wonderland

⚠️ Note:
Each Demon Princess also has her own Fairy Tale Book.
To obtain them, you must kill the princess rather than pact with her.
The exception is Miranda, who does not require her book for Ending C.
Lore Insights
BLACKSOULS is more than a dark RPG — it’s a corrupted reinterpretation of fairy tales, fused with Lovecraftian horror and Souls-like mechanics.

Mary Sue’s true identity
→ A daughter of Lovecraftian gods, creator of the Lost Empire, and the hidden mastermind behind the spreading mist.

The Lost Empire
→ A cursed land where the mist twists reality, humans turn into beasts, and fairy tales are rewritten as tragedies.

Why BLACKSOULS is unique
→ It combines erotic content, player freedom, and Souls-like difficulty within a deeply corrupted fairy-tale universe.

Symbolism & Fairy Tale Twists
  • Rapunzel – An innocent prisoner in the original tale, now a pact-bound lover. Her ring granting an extra turn symbolizes obsession turned into power.
  • Snow White – From purity to corruption. Her harsh covenant symbolizes innocence destroyed through impossible demands.
  • Mermaid Princess – A twisted version of Andersen’s tale; instead of sacrifice for love, she demands you sacrifice a companion.
  • Frog Princess – A parody of “The Frog Prince.” Each kiss drains 30 levels — love as punishment.
  • Cinderella & her Son – Royal legacy broken. Instead of rising to glory, her lineage ends in tragedy and corruption.
  • Hansel & Gretel – Picking cursed bread corrupts them, symbolizing temptation leading to downfall.
  • Match Girl – Andersen’s tragedy reimagined; this time the player can intervene and save her.
  • Jeanne d’Arc & the Saint Girl – Martyrs bound to faith. Their stories reflect the heavy price of sainthood and salvation.
  • Fairy Tale Books – Collecting them restores fragments of truth, unlocking Ending C.
  • Red Riding Hood – Her route highlights innocence masking predation.

Be careful, this guide still has huge amount of false information, even things discussed below aren't fixed.

I hate missing stuff in games, especially story and character related, so I'd have gone crazy if I didn't have a nice, even roughly formatted guide like this to follow. There's very little guides and stuff for this game on the internet so this one helped me a ton! Thank you very much for taking the time to make it!
EdenGenesisWs  [作者] 8 月 24 日 下午 2:07
I’ve updated several parts of the walkthrough for accuracy and clarity. The prologue now includes the Nemesis Drake’s proper name and the loot you receive after winning, along with a few screenshots I captured in-game for reference. The area list has been corrected with proper English/Japanese names, and I added a new table for “Other Passage Areas” like Secret Garden, Jacob’s Mine, and Hotel Poseidon. Companions are now separated from heroines and NPCs into distinct tables, each with portraits, making recruitment conditions and story roles clearer. Formatting and progression notes have also been cleaned up.

There is a wiki, it's far from complete, but at least it is reliable. And a few guides here and there which are also quite reliable, just a bit hard to find on random websites.
If you insist that you are using your notes (and not AI), I can only advise you to stop copy-pasting stuff from them and actually check things in the game. Comment character limit is not enough to point out every mistake. It's ok if some things aren't covered immediately, but it is a big deal when you spread misinformation. Trim everything and write things you are 100% sure about.
I just quick searched for Frog Princess entries, and you put her in Swamp AND Desert. What kind of thought process lead you to write completely made up stuff like "Frog Princess (カエルの姫) – Found deep in the swampy part of the desert."? And I really hope all SAN mentions will be gone in next update.

Just to clarify: there are no proper sources online for BLACKSOULS , so everything in the guide comes from my own notes and playthroughs, not AI. The only automation I use is for formatting .

About the Frog Princess , her pact is a real progression sacrifice , each kiss removes 30 levels for very little benefit. For most routes it is safer to kill her and claim the Fairy Tale Book . If you are doing low level challenges or a niche route, the pact can make sense.

I updated the guide quickly, so some lines were vague. I also self censor wording to avoid Steam bans, which can make things sound softer than intended. If you spot unclear phrasing or mistakes, please point them out and I will fix them.

while the guide can be pretty useful for certain things, like half of it is complete misinformation or using circumlocution, there's no doubt you're using an LLM for this, and i strongly urge you to not. i know there's not much info on BLACKSOULS online but writing AI guides really doesn't help as it just poisons the well even further

like "Frog Princess – Pact adds pressure with little benefit. Strongly recommended to kill her." what does that even mean? "adds pressure" is saying nothing, it's a whole sentence that doesn't say anything. you could've just written that her pact removes 30 levels from you

It's significantly better now! Still should Ctr+F all SAN/sanity mentions and fix them, I believe all of "SAN-draining/damage" in guide refer to HP damage (from poison ground or strong enemies).
Candies aren't "only useful for Gansel&Gretel quest", they are used to buy good weapons and rings behind Red's house. Prayer master sells both keys and candies but it's 1000 vs 5000.
I think about 50% of Wonderland section is not true, but I need to check. At least Bandersnatch is not "mandatory" boss, you can skip this fight if you refuse to answer his question.

Hello everyone! I’ve fully updated my guide, and I’d love your feedback!
If you notice any mistakes, let me know and I’ll fix them right away.
Also, if you have screenshots of enemies, bosses, characters (heroines, NPCs), or zones, I’d be very interested in adding them to the guide.

@Shin_Arisu Thanks for pointing all this out. You’re right, the endings section especially needs some proper revision, and a few details ended up mixed in from my BS2 notes. I’ll rework that part to include the correct conditions, companion endings, and Leaf’s ring, and clean up mistakes like the “SAN/SEN” mentions.

I’ll also add the missing progression notes you mentioned—like the ice spell in the snowy garden and the rings of avarice—so the strategies make sense from start to finish.

And just to clarify, some terms are intentionally toned down since I’ve had guides banned before for using words like “r*pe,” so I have to be careful with wording.

Really appreciate your feedback—it’ll help make the guide clearer and more reliable for everyone.

And starting from "endings" section this guide is weird, honestly it even feels kinda AI-generated (if not for your replies in comments I would assume AI for sure).
Endings and conditions are badly described, all of them lacks actual important triggers. And some bits are just not true - pacts (convenants) are mentioned, but they don't affect endings at all, probably meant to be "relationship" with companions or something. Also talking about endings you should mention companion endings and Leaf's ring. I think they should have been in "alternative endings" section, it even has a correct number of them, but instead it is filled with random things (I'm not sure some of them make sense). "Ending D" is straight up not true, there is no Red's route, it is Baphomet's, probably got confused with BS2.
There are also several mentions of "SAN" (SEN) though the guide, but it just doesn't exists in this game, it's from BS2.
