Mac-Lutum CE3BHL1M1

The Mac-Lutum CE3BHL1 is the backhoe loader variant of the CE3BD1M. Due to manufacturing of the CE3BD1M, the CE3BHL1 was delayed by some time until manufacturing ramped up. Featuring a heavy machine gun and a hatch on top of the one person cab like before, but this time the rear controls are connected to use the backhoe. The front replaces the blades with a bucket loader. Due to the drastically different mounting point of the bucket loader, the front slats had to be redesigned to accommodate its movements. Like the other variants, it has a high pwoer to weight ratio so it can lift or push heavy loads. In the case of the militarized variants, it can accommodate the extra weight of armoring such as the aforementioned slats and bullet-resistant glass.

The combat engineers uses the BHL-1 for demolition of damaged structures, to fill in concertainer barriers, digging of trenches, and general field work. However, during peace time, army engineers are often deployed to help construct state projects when not training, albeit vehicles and soldiers aren't armed when doing so. Khertland sees this as a cheaper alternative to hiring contractors for large scale infrastructure projects. Even normal infantrymen are often deployed as just manual laborers in times of peace. Though it doesn't completely alleivate the specialized skills of civilian contractors, it reduces some of the manpower needed, along with the army's dual-use equipment such as the BHL-1 and BD1Ms. Indeed, vehicles like the earthborer/augers, CE1 Tekan, have been used in Trazmarr province to expand electrical and telecommunications utilities to prior under-served communities. These vehicles have also been seen used by the army during disaster relief.

The Khertland government sees this as a efficient use of military spending during peace time. The military offers it as a way for soldiers during their down time when not training or doing their normal duties to learn trade skills that they can use after serving. The army also believes it is a good public relations move, to show the military has moved away from its authoritarian past and now serves the people.
Civilian contractors have voiced concerns on potential job loss as a result, boosting support for the Partitionist Party.
