With the fleet stretched thin the ESDF high command and materials administration decided to upgrade the Daring class patrol gunboat to a new flight in order to patrol cargo lanes near stations and planetary installations.
This new flight includes upgrades to its armor for better protection and upgrades to its internal systems for a streamlined construction making this new flight of gunboats incredibly fast and cheap to construct making them ideal for patrol and escort missions.
Daring class patrol gunboats can commonly be seen escorting Visby class corvettes and Retribution class deck carrier while on missions but has also on rare occasions been seen as escort for the Valour class battlecruiser
