Hades II bossfights advice
由 LemonShoe 制作
Just a fun guide on how to defeat each boss. This is written to be geared towards anyone new to the game or struggling with the bossfights. This will contain some minor spoilers on the bosses you will encounter, so read this at your digression. Know this guide will not go into too much depth compared to other guides, like what was built to use and such (that's for you to find out).

This wasn't written to be that helpful but if it does you take most of the credit.

Preparations before fighting the Guardian (the bossfight)
Recommended basic Arcana cards to equip (and upgrade):
  • The Wayward Son, if you take damage ever now and then in each location.
  • The Unseen, to regain magick for use more abilities.
  • Peristence, to increase you're starting heath and magick.
  • Death, to automatically revive after dying and recover some health (max 3 times when you can upgrade it).
  • The Lovers, taking no damage from a couple of hits from a Guardian can make a difference.

Recommended Keepsake to equip before facing off against a Guardian you find difficult to face. (This is more optional if you created Kindred Keepsakes in the cauldron to be able to change Keepsake before every new location):
  • Luckier Tooth (from Schelemus) - arguably the most useful one and one you may be using a lot to use to be able to revive once when your health reaches 0. One I recommend using before going to a location with a Guardian you find difficult to beat.
  • Knuckle Bones (from Odysseus) - this makes it so the Guardian deal less damage to you, and when encountering them, they lose a percentage of health, making it easier to defeat them if you're comfortable.
  • Evil Eye (from Nemesis) - Whoever killed you last time makes you deal a lot of damage to them. Use this to get revenge on any Guardian that defeated you last time.

Basic tips:
  • Buy armours from Charon's just before fighting the Guardian when given the options. When it gets depleted during the fight, it doesn't deplete your main health, so you can save a lot of health depending on the damage you would have taken.
  • Go to Selene's Hex option and go for it the second time, so you can upgrade it as you want in the skill tree to make it more useful when fighting the Guardian.
  • Always go for the Region-Based Boons (the one with 2 golden hands) as they will not only progress the story of specific characters but offer things that will be useful, like an increase in maximum health, resistance to damage, other boons, etc.
  • If you can, always go for the Daedalus Hammer as the weapon alteration can make it fit your playstyle or offer a different option to get the base you want of all the boons and skills you've been collecting.
  • If you lost a Death Defiance during a run, always check Charon's shop as it will more likely offer an option to recover it, costing 200 coins.

(You can also apply these tips to Hades or maybe to any other roguelite games with the same mechanic)
Underworld bosses
Headmistress, Hecate:
Dodge back and forth, and sprint (literally), when Hecate tries to turn you into an animal.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3564247088
Headmistress, Hecate Vow of Rivals:
Be as far away from Hecate when she is on Dark Side mode
Skylla and the Sirens:
Target the drummer first and don't get hypnotised by Scylla's music if you're a guy.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3555405519
Skylla and the Sirens Vow of Rivals:
Take out the tentacles and keep switching targets, don't stick with just one. Move around the arenas.
Infernal Cerberus:
Most of his attacks linger, so dodge at the right time or don't be too close to him when you think he is about to attack.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3592981136
Infernal Cerberus Vow of Rivals:
Don't stand on the lava for too long, and use it when you have nowhere else to stand for a second.
Chronos, Titan of Time:
Make sure you use the toilet beforehand. But seriously, try not to predodge Chronos too early and ensure you have him in view so he doesn't attack you out of nowhere you can't see.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3565403121

And yes, Chronos have a second phase. He pretty much has the same attacks from the first phase.
  • The shining clock pointer actually damages you.
  • When Chronos is about to do his big AOE, there will be a small circle you need to stand on to avoid taking 999 damage from it. Every time, Chronos will do this big AOE at the start of this phase and after the countdown indicated by the red clock pointer multiple times during the fight. This also applies to the smaller clock AOE damage Chrono will do. Just stand inside the lighter part and try not to move too much from it unless otherwise.
    https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3576927657
  • Destroy the Tempus (the small green hourglass) that will heal Chronos if you feel like you can't out damage the heals.
  • You can dodge through the clock ring Chronos that comes inside the arena.
  • Sometimes it is best to position yourself and stand still until the traps Chrono places around the area disappear.
  • Take you TIME defeating him.
Chronos, Titan of Time Vow of Rivals:
Use your best attacks on him that you manage to build towards when you have the opportunity, as he is as fast as f***, and either keep sprinting around the arena or dodge his attacks or both.
Surface bosses
The Cyclops Polyphemus:
Remember, he's blind, so don't attack when he's looking for you to make him lose track of you, and it's a good way to take a breather.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3559618048
The Cyclops Polyphemus Vow of Rivals:
There are 4 small fountains that will cure you if you get poisoned. It looks similar to the one in Hades 1. Use it as soon as possible when you get poisoned.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3597880707
Eris, Strife Incarnate:
Use cover when she's shooting, but be careful, as she can still destroy them.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3556477728
Eris, Strife Incarnate Vow of Rivals:
She can't shoot you if you're behind her, and also, the mines can be destroyed.
Prometheus, Titan of Foresight:
Fire burns. Position where Prometheus is burning to crowd-controlling the field. Count in your head (1-3) of where Melinoë should be and stay as far to the south-west below when Prometheus is burning from above. I found that it helps to evade his attacks. Think of them as lanes you shouldn't be in.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3457440493
Prometheus, Titan of Foresight and Hercules, Mightiest of Men Vow of Rivals:
Stick to fighting one person while evading their attacks.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3593890544
Typhon, Father of all Monsters:
Ummmm, don't get hit (especially the tongue) and keep fighting it using every move you can cast, special, omegles, etc, just keep dealing damage when it's safe. Tyhon's healthbar is massive.
  • Evade Typhon's when he's swinging his tongue. Later in his boss phase, he will swing his tongue multiple times, so be aware of that. If you find it hard to evade it, be right up near Typhon so you don't take any damage from it. His actual tongue doesn't deal damage to you.
  • Evade Typhon when he's bang down with his horns. Be in the middle of his head when evading, so it doesn't linger on you.
  • Destroy the eggs Typhon lays if you can deal enough damage to them.
  • Balance being near Typhon's head and down below.
  • His projectile can follow you around and bounce a couple of times. Don't be near them even when they make contact with the ground.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3553404870
Typhon, Father of all Monsters Vow of Rivals:
Stand on the complete opposite side of Chronos and Typhon (when he is slamming his tongue on the ground).

If it helps, take down all the Thorn-Weeper first before going inside the shadow

Master-Slicer:
Run by the Lanthorn. They will self-detonate shortly after contact.

Region 2 (Oceanus)
Hellifish:
Take down its minions first so they don't get in your way.
Deep Serpent:

https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3603297300
King Vermin:
There are traps everywhere; use them.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3242887462

You can always choose to fight it later after defeating all the other enemies.
Region 4 (Tartarus)
Goldwrath:
The enemy only have 2 attacks. Be close to it when it's homing at you so you can dodge its attacks easier. Don't be too near it when it's dropping coins.
The Verminancer:
Use the traps to trap it.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3591753735
Surface bosses mini-bosses
Region 1 (City of Ephyra)
Erymanthian Boar:
Treat it like a dumb boar. Trick it into stunning its head against the wall.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3591754097
Satyr Champion:
Take cover when it's aiming at you, then attack behind it.

Region 2 (Rift of Thessaly)
Charybrdis:
To evade the cluster bombs, rush to the edge to go to the other side, but not too quickly, while they detonate.
The Yargonaut:
Watch out for the projectile; it can bounce from walls.

Region 3 (Mount Olympus)
Talos:
Sprint away when it's chasing you.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3593142854
Mega-Dracon:
Don't stay too close to the flames, they linger.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3602137704
Aetos
Not really a boss fight, but if possible, stand behind an unmovable object, as it can't fly over it.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3602137993

Region 4 (The Summit)
Eye of Typhon:
Treat the eyeball like the Bawlder enemy. Used your cast to slow the eyeball down and keep it in place, and move away from it when it is destroyed.
Spawn of Typhon:
Dodge between the walls when it's charging at you.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3594375417
The Tail Of Typhon:
The arena is quite large, so move around to avoid getting pinned down and dodge the shockwaves coming in and out one at a time.
Twins of Typhon:
Get them to come out from the underground by not moving so much and dodging at the right time when they are about to attack.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3590194311
Back to the shadow
If you still find it difficult to make much progress with the bosses, you can always turn on Godmode, which will make the enemies deal extremely less damage to you. Don't feel ashamed to activate the mode throughout or at certain fights you find difficult; play this game how you want, it's all about having fun at the end of the day and enjoying the geek mythology interpretation.

Good luck with everything, and keep trying as if nothing else works, as Hypnos would perfectly put it, "Have you tried killing them first?"

@FelaketCorbacı: Same the first time, but once you get used to the way he attacks, he's not too bad; he just
hits hard.

@Kranken Ratten: Attacking behind him is the way to go. I still need to play against him more to try to lose at least one death defiance from him.

vow of rival cerberus has some easier attacks if you are closer to him. it helps me

If you're asking about the big AOE blast, then you need to be in a small circle that is glowing before he damages you with it. If you can't find it, scan around the arena for it. It's ok, some of us needed to learn that the hard way .

It doesn’t work (at least that’s what I remember). When I tried to stay away from the clock, I still took -1000 damage.

I'm gonna work on it as a spoiler maybe for today but if you need one advice avoid the clock pointer :mohappy:

Thank you 😊, but I will need to update it. I'll try to do this as soon as I can. Hope you enjoy the game in the meantime :epihappy:.
