All you have to do is hold Ctrl, then press Win+V, which will bring up the output device selection quick menu. Once it's on your screen, just click back into the game and the dialogue/scenes should be fast forwarding on their own as if you were still holding Ctrl.

This persists throughout everything you do until you press Ctrl again, at which point it will stop working. If it does, just do the trick again.
