What is it?
Kingmaker is an asynchronous pvp game mode in the game "He is Coming". That's it. You can close the guide now.
Why should I play this gamemode?
Simply put, it's really fun. It puts your deck building abilities against other players. It lets you experiment with items of the 2 different zones. There are also item sets only available here as well as many cauldron recipes. Wins gives you crowns. Which you can use to obtain skins (that you can also use in pve!!!).
How does it work?
Much like the pve gamemode, the gameplay loop consist of exploring the map, gather items to prepare for a fight every 3 nights.

The main difference is that instead of fighting monsters, you are fighting other players. Or should I say, their ghost. How this works is that, when you start a loop, the server sends you the build of a previous player of that phase as an opponent. This way, you have a fair fight without having to wait for another player to be ready for a fight.

Game are much longer as you'll be facing 5 players, with an optional sixth. After defeating 5 players, you have a choice to make. You either gain 2 crowns and end the game or gain 1 crown and face a champion. You start with 4 inventory slots. And gain 2 slots after each player encounter up to a maximum of 12 total slots.
Champions
Champions are late game builds that haven't been defeated yet. Defeating a champion creates a champion with your build. Your champion gathers crowns for every player they defeat.
Your champions can be seen by clicking on the "view champions" button. This list shows the champions' number of wins against player, if they are still in the champion pool (active or defeated) and what their build is. Once your champion is defeated, you can claim the crowns they gathered. Once you've claimed your cowns, you can see a replay of the fight that killed your champion.
The hall of fame
A champion can gather up to 10 crowns.
After defeating 10 players, a champion is sent to the hall of fame.

As a bonus, you gain wings on the skin your champion had.
Item pool
Unlike the pve game mode, in kingmaker, you have some control over the item pool. This comes in the form of the bundle system. Weapons, items and edges from both woodland and swampland are separated into different bundles. Before starting a game, you have to choose 3 bundles out of the 6 to form your item pool. Different combinations will allow for different builds or play styles. Since you can use food items from both woodland and swampland you have access to new cauldron recipes!
The map
Like the woodlands, kingmaker takes place on a big circular map filled with waypoints. It is really useful to know what areas contains what kind of ressources.
Golem Glade
The golem glade is this grassy area with no trees. You will find there the golem. With his help, you can combine 2 of the same common item into a golden. Or 2 golden items into a diamond one. Golems can be used any number of times.

Fairies can be seen here. They transform an item you give them into a random item of the same rarity. Can only be used once.
Petrified Forest
This biome is really easy to identify with the tall grass, rocks and petrified trees. This place is where you will find the merchant.

Always surrounded by gold tiles, the merchant, like in the other game mode, will sell you 5 rare and 1 heroic item with one of them being on sale. Rare cost 5 at full price and 3 on sale. While heroic cost 10 gold and 5 on sale. You can also re-roll for 1 gold. The price increases by 1 every time it is used. The current re-roll price is shared among all merchants. A re rolled shop never has sales.

If you have the yellow woodland bundle activated, you will also be able to find jewellery boxes in this area.
Cauldron Hollow
The forest biome that always contains a cauldron. It is always surrounded by tiles that kinda look like dead bushes. The cauldron works like in pve. You input 2 different food items and get a powerful cauldron item. There are many more cauldron items as their are more food combinations possible in kingmaker. Note that you can't use golden, diamond or cauldron items in the cauldron. Cauldron can be used any number of times.

You can also find bonfires there. They are campfires that fully replenish health instead of healing for 10. And the vision range is larger.
Elderwood Cemetary
If you see tombstones and crosses on a dark ground, you are in the cemetary, Surrounded by skulls lies the hero grave. It contains 3 random heroic item to choose from. If you have the yellow swampland bundle, you can find ancient tomes. When you find one, you can chose 1 of 3 random books to add to your build.
Blackrock Battlefield
Swords on the ground, red flags and rocks. That's all you'll see in the battlefield. The main tile you're looking for in this area are the weapon pile. They function like in the swampland. Giving you the choice between 3 random weapons of any rarity (except mythic).

The other thing you may find is the forge. Which lets you apply an edge on your weapon. Each anvil has 2 random edges. Applying an edge on a weapon that already has one overrides it. Using an anvil is free when your weapon has no edge and cost 10 gold when it has one. Anvil can be used multiple times.
Farmland Fields
Farmland fields is a calm area with the farmer npc. The player can take 1 of 3 random food items the farmer has when interacted with. Scarecrows spawns around the farmer to help locate him.
the uh... filler zone?
This is the zone you start from. Grass, some trees and brown rocks(?) are the tiles that covers the area. There seems to be less enemies. There are many treasure chests. There's not much else here. There is some of it between the other biomes.
Common Events
Common events are common tiles scattered on the map that can be interacted with. The common events are the following:
Waypoints
Like in woodland, you can teleport to any activated waypoints. To activate it, you can just walk over it. Can be seen regardless of if it was discovered or not.
Campfires
Can only be used at night. Skip the rest of the night and heals the player for 10. On the very first night, campfires reveal an area around them. Making them useful to see different biomes from afar.
Lookout Towers
When a lookout tower is activated, it reveals the area around it.
Woodcutters
The woodcutter will combine 2 of your items into a random heroic item.
Horses
Horses are exclusive to kingmaker. When interacted with, the player can choose 1 of 3 random tiles from this list:
  • Golem
  • Merchant
  • Cauldron
  • Hero grave
  • Weapon pile
Then, the horse transport you to an undiscovered tile of the selected option. Moving with the horse discovers tiles on the way. Each horse can only be used once and can be seen regardless of if it was discovered or not.
Bargaining Tents
Bargaining tents are small shops that contain 2 rare items. You can haggle to have a chance to reduce the price by 1. You can haggle multiple times. The minimum price seems to be 3. Failing to haggle increases the price by 2 and prevents from haggling further. This shop can't be refreshed.
Scrying orbs
Using a scrying orb reveals the location of a random rare event. Can only be used once.
Rare Events
Although there is only 1 of each rare event, there are many different rare events. Those events each come with their own biome to help find them from further. Refer to the screenshots to see what tiles are used for each of these biomes. They are the following:
Gemstone
The gemstone event had no random element to it. Going over the tile opens a screen where you can take 1 of the 4 gems.

Citrine gemstone
Your base speed stat is inverted.
Emerald gemstone
Battle Start: If you have less max health than the enemy, set your max health equal to their max health.
Ruby gemstone
If your attack is exactly 1, deal 4 damage on hit.
Sapphire gemstone
Whenever you lose armor, restore that much health.
Beehive
Always surrounded by honey crazed bears and honey bees, looting the beehive can be dangerous during early game. Like other common enemies, they reach level 3 (level max) after the second player encounter. Reaching the beehive gives you a honeycomb. Which you can combine with another food item at a cauldron to obtain a powerful cauldron item[wiki.hoodedhorse.com].
Fairy queen
The fairy queen is a very particular kind of evil demon cool npc. If you accept her vicious deal, you will lose the game your items will be replaced with other random items of a higher rarity. Common are turned to rare, rare to heroic, golden to diamond. Heroic, diamond, cauldron and cursed items are changed to another random item of the same rarity.
Large Golem
The large golem can upgrade one of your common or golden items to the next tier. Can only be used once.
Rune
The rune let's you choose one of the 3 runes.

Blood Rune
Wounded: Re-trigger the last triggered wounded item.
Echo Rune
Wounded: Re-trigger a random battle start item.
Iron Rune
If you have exactly 1 item with exposed, it triggers thrice.
Crone
Crone spawns with 3 random cursed items. You can take 1 of them. Can only be used once.
Junksmith
The junksmith is a unique npc that can add an additionnal edge to your weapon. Remember that you need an edge in order to use the junksmith's service.
Potion Maker
The potion maker can grant an additional effect to 1 of you potions. The effect changes based on the potion. Potions of any rarity can be used. Note that transforming the potion makes it unique. Can only be used once.
Wealthy Merchant
The wealthy merchant is a special merchant that sell 6 random heroic rarity items. All of the item are on a discount for 5 gold each. Unlike regular merchants, the shop of the wealthy merchant can't be refreshed.
Seasonal events
Temporary events that adds cool new content!
Halloween event
Content from halloween 2025. This content is no longer available!!!

The Candy pail is a tile that gives you a random candy upon walking over it.

Green
3 max health
Blue
3 armor
Red
1 att
Yellow
2 speed

As candies are common items, candies of the same color can be combined at the golem to upgrade to gold or diamond.

A new biome was also added in kingmaker. The spooky biome.

The player must be careful when navigating this area as the enemies that inhabits it are very strong. The pumpkid steals attack damage on battle start. The pumpkin guards holds food items (they don't drop them on death) during the fight and have high stats.

The main attraction is the sacrificial pot. Upon interacting with it, you can throw candies into the pot. Throwing 3 candies in the pot summons the pumpkin jack. You have the option to fight it or come back later. This mini boss starts the fight at 1 attack damage, 15 health, 10 armor and 5 speed. Everytime pumpkin jack attacks, he steals 1 attack damage from the player. Upon defeat, the player is a warded a seasonal pumpkin.

The pumpkin is an heroic food item with the effect "battle start: steal 1 attack from the enemy". For the recipees, I recommend searching them on the official wiki's cauldron page[wiki.hoodedhorse.com] or Mebbo's cool interactive ingredients table[mebbohub.com]

All of the rare events now have unique tiles surrounding them so the images may need updating; along with any info on the halloween event

Now that the game has been out for a while, is it even possible to defeat a champion?
Hatty85.ttv 8 月 13 日 上午 6:40
When you defeat a champion, if you opt out of going for the undefeated champion, do you keep your champion as a build ppl have to try to beat ?
Sloud  [作者] 7 月 28 日 上午 3:06
There are cheaters currently and they tend to give themselves 99 gold (the limit). But it is also not that hard to reach 99 without cheating so it's not necessarily that. The devs talked about the cheating. They will work on it soon.

You can access this game mode by beating the woodland abomination. I think you don't need to beat the swampland but I'm not sure.

Is it someone that uses a cheat engine to get unlimited gold also?
xaelon 7 月 25 日 下午 4:46
How do you even access this game mode?
sebsal 7 月 24 日 下午 11:40
I think the problem was that I was playing without wifi, the runs I won when playing on wifi got added.
Sloud  [作者] 7 月 23 日 下午 5:15
Once you beat your fifth opponent you have the choice to en the run or challenge a champion. You need to challenge a champion and beat it. If that's the issue, I recommend going to the discord for help. It would be easier to have a conversation to see what's wrong.

I've gotten to the champion point a couple times but it doesn't seem like my build gets added to the pool, I don't even see a "view champions" button. Am I doing something wrong?
