Beskrivelse
The M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage (MGMC) was a U.S. self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle developed during World War II. Based on the M3 half-track chassis, it was equipped with a powerful M45 Quadmount—four .50 caliber M2 Browning machine guns mounted together for concentrated fire. Initially introduced in 1943, the M16 was designed to defend Allied forces against low-flying aircraft, but it proved equally effective against infantry and lightly armored vehicles. Its high rate of fire earned it the nickname “Meat Chopper” among troops. The vehicle had an open-top design and carried a crew of five, including gunners and a driver. The M16 saw widespread use in Europe and the Pacific, and remained in U.S. service into the Korean War, where it was used more often for ground support than for anti-aircraft roles. Its versatility and firepower made it one of the most successful anti-aircraft platforms of the war.
