The Panzer III Ausf. N, introduced in 1942, was the last version of the Panzer III. It featured a short 75mm KwK 37 L/24 gun, repurposing the tank for infantry support rather than tank combat, which it could no longer handle effectively against newer Allied armor. Converted from earlier models, it received extra armor and often served alongside Tiger I tanks. Though outdated as a main battle tank, the Ausf. N remained in use until 1945, with about 700 units produced or converted.
