327th GIR: Part 1- "Mission Chicago"

In the dark pre-dawn hours of D-Day, elements of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions have already parachuted into Normandy. The 327th Glider Infantry Regiment, as part of the Divisions second wave, is to land by glider at 0400 and reinforce the paratroopers holding key causeways and road junctions inland from Utah Beach. German defenses in the area consist of elements of the 91st Luftlande Division and 709th Static Infantry Division, supported by scattered armor and artillery batteries. Resistance is expected to be heaviest near the town of Carentan, as it is a vital point linking Utah and Omaha Beaches together.Glider landings will be hazardous. Anticipate scattered insertions, broken units, and likely enemy contact shortly after landing. Regroup quickly, push to assigned objectives, and establish a blocking force to secure the causeways.
