Lore

Faced with the increasing reality of Earth's superiority in space, Mars invested billions into creating the most advanced warship the system had ever seen, a cruiser that could reliably take on and defeat 2 of Earth's latest battleships simultaneously. Miraculously, MFS succeeded at delivering on Mars's proposed requirements for this new ship, and thus the Finality was pushed into service. While initially limited in numbers, The lead ship MSFS Finality was later joined by three others of the same class: MSFS Ultima, MSFS Ragnarök, and MSFS Apocalypse.

When war with Earth eventually did occur, the Finality class proved utterly devastating in combat, and in the end, really did live up to the expectation of defeating two of Earth's largest battleships in direct combat. During the bombardment of the moon, crews of Earth's lunar bases could see the massive silhouette of the Finality in the lunar sky launching nuclear warheads down at other military installations on the lunar surface, glowing brightly like a star when the flash of the nuclear explosions illuminated its hull.

When the war eventually did end, a single Finality was credited with creating the dense field of debris that circles the moon even to this day, such was its effectiveness in combat.

Description

A ship built around advanced systems and firepower, the Finality features numerous scripts and partially automated systems designed to enhance its effectiveness in combat. A system of automatic welders allows for partial repairs of the difficult to reach outer hull, while ship integrity LCDs spread around the ship help engineers monitor for damage that needs to be repaired, regardless of whether they're on the bridge or all the way in the front of the ship. As is standard with all MFS ships, a self repair projector makes repairs on the fly a breeze, especially when combined with the partial autoweld system.

Split down the middle by a hangar permanently exposed to the vacuum of space, the Finality is separated into two sections, each with independent pressurization and power supplies. The frontal sector houses crew compartments, lounges, medbays, and auxiliary systems, while the rear sector houses the reactor, the CIC, the ship's servers, and the bridge and captain's quarters. The CIC in particular can function as a backup bridge in an emergency, with a redundant air supply and positioning at the center of the ship meaning that penetration of the CIC is extremely unlikely. If the rear sector is rendered entirely non operational, or if the ship is even split entirely in two, a reserve systems bay in the frontal sector of the ship contains emergency repair supplies to patch air leaks, a redundant air supply, a redundant hydrogen engine for emergency power, and a beacon to notify nearby ships of the crew's need for rescue.

As part of its role in the Martian fleet, the Finality also serves as a beachhead for ground troops to stage invasions from, accommodating a UD-28 in its hangar, as well as an on board shooting range in the front of the ship to allow ground soldiers to train with a variety of weapons even while transiting the system on board the Finality. Crew comfort is also a high priority for such a large ship, with a kitchen and mess hall, lounge, dedicated captain's quarters, and large medical bay.

With all of these factors combined, in addition to both the devastating turreted and fixed armament on board the Finality, the ship is a force to be reckoned with in any engagement.
