In early 2025, the neutral Republic of Malden allowed Chinese PLA forces to establish a presence on the island to combat increasing piracy in the Western Mediterranean. However, over time, Chinese military activity expanded beyond the original anti-piracy mandate, with the establishment of a forward operating base (FOB) in the island's northern highlands.

Recent US SIGINT intercepted encrypted transmissions linked to the FOB, suggesting the PLA is involved in a classified operation. The nature of this operation remains unclear, but its scale and secrecy raise concerns. Malden has since revoked the Chinese basing agreement, formally requesting international assistance.

The US has authorized a military response, as the PLA has refused to vacate the area, making the FOB a legitimate target under international law.


A Marine special operations unit will infiltrate the PLA FOB, neutralizing hostiles and recovering any intelligence or materials related to the classified operation. The team will focus on identifying the nature of the Chinese project, suspected to involve advanced military technology.

If high-value assets such as prototypes or documents are found, they are to be secured or destroyed to prevent further use. The mission must be executed with precision to minimize collateral damage and avoid escalation with the larger Chinese presence.
