It means the game started up but never managed to reach the menu last time it was launched (this would happen if the game was quite during the loading process, or crashed while starting).

It's a fail-safe in case someone sets the main menu to a custom map that can't load, like if it's massive and crashes their PC

i think the map its on about worked just fine until now.
