Simple Settings Tweak for FPS / Visual Clarity*
由 CoXeY 制作
Quick FPS Boost + Cleaner Look in Deadzone: Rogue
TL;DR:
If you're getting low FPS or find the visuals too hazy from the light/glow, change these settings:

  • Shadow Quality – Off
  • Global Illumination – Low
  • Raytraced Shadows – Off
  • Lumen Hardware Raytracing – Off

Yes, less eye candy but also less eye strain (in my case).

QUICK COMPARISON
Optimised Settings
Hey, just wanted to share something I stumbled across while trying to get Deadzone: Rogue to run smoother & look cleaner.

The game looks great out of the box, but it tanks performance—and honestly, there’s so much lighting going on that it can (in my opinion) look a bit too muddy or hazy in some scenes.

I tried messing with the settings, and here’s what actually made a big difference:

Settings:
  • Shadow QualityOff
  • Global IlluminationLow
  • Raytraced ShadowsOff
  • Lumen Hardware RaytracingOff

Doing this gave me a noticeable FPS boost, and weirdly enough, the game looks better? (in terms of clarity) Less hazy, more crisp. It's not a look that's for everyone, I appreciate the degradation in eye candy but it works for me.

  • It had a bigger boost in performance for me vs my friends setup, so your results may vary.
  • If you see any artefacts / weird noisy light it's probably the Global Illumination setting.

Comparison
All On VS All Off VS Middle Ground:
  • All On (+ RT Shadows & Lumens) 81~ FPS

  • All Off/Low (Optimised) 238~ FPS (my fps cap)

  • Shadow Quality & Global Illu On (-RT Shadows & Lumens Off) 163~ FPS

Different scenes/areas heavily change the FPS & how much visual light there is/isn't.

Final Thoughts / Yapping / AI Upscaling
There’s a noticeable difference between Shadow Quality: Off and any of the “on” options — turning it off really eliminates the haze and excess glow. Not sure if it’s intentional, but it can be hard on the eyes after a while for some people (and unfortunately I'm one of those). Looks great, just a bit much for longer FPS sessions.

AI Upscaling (FSR, XeSS, etc.) is constantly changing, so I didn’t dive into it here — but it’s worth experimenting with for both FPS and clarity, depending on your setup.

Hope this helps! If a patch drops soon, maybe this’ll be irrelevant — but for now, it’s a quick way to make the game smoother and easier to look at.

@CLTX Adjusting in game settings is "kinda cheating"? That's a new one.

@CLTX
that is the most stupid comment i have read

The point of the haze/mist is to make it harder while you play so removing that is kinda cheating imho...

Thank you for this breakdown. I like how much the settings change the visuals, as some games you can change from low to ultra and see no difference in visuals nor performance.

It’s absolutely insane how much of a transformation the graphics settings can make — it’s like night and day. Seriously, if the devs don’t see this guide and reach out to you, they’re missing out big time, because you, yes YOU, are onto something revolutionary here. My mind isn’t just blown — it’s been obliterated into smithereens. This didn’t just help me — it changed the whole damn game. Legend.

cheers man, yeah that first pic I honestly thought I would die if I went down there due to how red it was and how little I could see
