The Guild Awaits

There are 5 guilds in the game with a large side quest chains: Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Mages Guild, Fighters Guild and Arena. By completing their side quests, you will learn the guild story and also achieve certain progress in it. As a reward for this, you will unlock the corresponding achievements. So focus on these, since each guild has a specific gameplay style,
it may happen that you lack the skills and abilities to complete some quests, so think about your playstyle from the very beginning.

No Console

Many players complain that when opening the console and entering absolutely any command, the game perceives this as the use of cheats and this completely blocks the unlocking of achievements for your save file. The only way out of this situation is to completely exclude the use of the console or install the appropriate Achievement Unblocker mods.

Any Missable Achievements?

Duke Dementia and Duke Mania achievements in Shivering Isles DLC are exlcuding each other, so it is required to make a save before you make a choice during walkthorugh. There are no other missable achievements in the game, but it is important to consider that you will have difficulty completing quests from the Thieves Guild or the Mages Guild when playing as a warrior class and vice versa. Therefore, I personally play as 3 different characters: a full warrior, a mage and a thief and complete the corresponding guild quests.

After some unexpected events, Baurus will give you the keys to the sewers and tell you where to go.


You will get the achievement as soon as you reach the sewer gate, you will also be asked to change your appearance, class or constellation. Proceed to unlock an achievement.

Following the story quests you will find yourself in the city of Kvatch, which will be attacked by Daedra. The entrance to the city will be blocked by huge Oblivion Gates, your task is to get inside and take with you a Sygil Stone that keeps the Gates open.


Once you in the Oblivion Plan go further until you reach the huge tower, you should reach its top to get the Sygil Stone.


On the central floor of the tower you will come across a closed door that can only be opened with a special key. To do this, go to the door that leads across the bridge to the neighboring tower. At the top of this tower you will find a cage with a captured Kvatch guard and a Daedra who guards him. The key we need is with the Daedra, so we kill him, take the key and continue our way to the top of the main tower.


Simply touch the Sigil Stone to break the spell that keeps the Oblivion Gates open, and the achievement will be yours.

First you have to kill any innocent non-hostile character. Note that a message should appear that "Your killing has been observed by forces unknown...".


Then you have to sleep somewhere in the safe place. You will be awaken by Lucien Lachance, a Speaker for the Black Hand. Speak with him to accept the "A Knife in the Dark" Side Quest and start Dark Brotherhood quest chain.


Lucien Lachance will grant you the Blade of Woe. To finish the quest you have to find and kill an angry old man known as Rufio, who lives in the Inn of Ill Omen.

Once Rufio is dead, the Hero must sleep in the safe place again to summon Lucien Lachance. He will offer you a membership in the Dark Brotherhood.

Go to Cheydinhal and in the basement of an old, abandoned mansion you will find the entrance to the Dark Brotherhood hideout. It is here that you will have to take all further quests and complete them, receiving rewards and promotions. To advance in your career, you must complete assignments (contracts) for the Brotherhood. Complete these 2 contracts to get your first promotion: A Watery Grave and Accidents Happen.


Your first target for the contract is the captain of a pirate ship located in the Imperial Waterfront.


Turn back to Vicente Valtieri to finish this contract and to accept the second one you need for promotion. Now you have to go to the Bruma to kill a bosmer named Baenlin. Easy way to do this is to sneak inside his house, find the crawlspace and loose the fastenings for the mounted head to drop it on Baenlin while he rests in his chair.


Report back to Vicente Valtieri to finish contract, get your reward and another achievement.

To reach this rank and unlock another achievement you have to finish 2 more contracts for the Dark Brotherhood: Scheduled For Execution and The Assassinated Man.

Your target for a first contract is a prisoner, Valen Dreth, who is soon to be released from prison. Valen Dreth is the same prisoner who taunted you right at the beginning of the game.
Time for a sweet cold revenge. Make your way into the prison through the same dungeon that you left earlier in the prologue and deal with the impudent elf.


The next contract can be completed in several ways, some of them may be shorter, some longer. For the achievement, it does not matter under what conditions the contract will be completed, the main thing is to complete the quest.

Now you will need to go to Chorrol and simulate a contract killing of Francois Motierre. You are not the only killer to follow him on his heels, but your task in order to get a bonus in this mission is to kill him in front of another assassin with a special dagger, which is given to you at the beginning of the quest.


After this, you need to escape from the city and wait at least for 24 hours, then go down to the crypt of the city cathedral and there, using a special potion, wake up Francois Motierre.


You will only have to take him out of the church and take him to the stables, where he will thank you for your help and the quest can be completed in the Dark Brotherhood hideout and get another achievement.

After completing the previous contract, Vicente Valtieri will inform you that the next contracts will be given to you by Ocheeva, one of the leaders of the Dark Brotherhood of Cyrodiil. From now on, all new contracts will be given to you by her, and you will also have to complete them by talking to her.

Now to get a promotion you have to finish 4 more contracts:

During your first contract here, Ocheeva tasks you to go to the Imperial City, find an Altmer named Faelian and kill him. You won't have an exact description of where to find this him, so you'll have to do a little investigation to find out where he can be found.

Luckily, I can give you a quick tip on how to complete the quest: head straight to the Lorkmir's House, which is located in the Elven Gardens District between 11am and 5pm and kill Faelian.
Then report back to Ocheeva.


Second quest, requires to kill a dying warlord named Roderick at Fort Sutch and guarded by his mercenaries. Sneak to the fort and find the cabinet that Roderick's medicine is kept in is in the back left part of the fort. Take the medicine from the cabinet and replace it with the poison that Ocheeva provides. Then leave the fort and report back to Ocheeva to finish the contract.


The third quest is located in the city of Skingrad, talk to the gatekeeper of the mansion Fafnir, who will tell you that you will be locked in a house with 5 victims. You need to kill them all and preferably remain unnoticed. An easy way is to wait until all the victims go to bed and kill them in their sleep.


The last quest before the next promotion requires you to kill a high-ranking officer of the Imperial Legion who has dedicated his life to exposing the Dark Brotherhood. He can be killed in the city of Leyawiin when he is swimming in the local lake, having removed all his armor.

After the murder, you can return back to Ocheeva for a promotion (and achievement), but to get a bonus reward, you can take the severed finger with the ring from the corpse and carefully slip it into the table in the Imperial City.

There are several ways to join the Thieves Guild, I will show you the one that seems the easiest to me, although it will require some persuasion skills.

Fast travel to the Imperial Waterfront, on the walls of the buildings you will find the Gray Fox leaflets. If you read one of these, then the corresponding topic will appear when you talk to imperial citizens.


In practice, reading the leaflet is enough, but for the right effect you can talk to people about him until you hear the phrase that the beggars spy for the Gray Fox.


Now get back to the Imperial Waterfront and exactly at midnight come to the fenced yard in the beggar district, there will be three NPCs standing there, among whom there will be a man named Armand Cristophe, he is the one we need.

But he is not ready to immediately tell you about his involvement in the thieves' guild, so you will need to improve your relations. After that, the option to join the thieves' guild will appear in the dialogue and he will admit that we have come to the right place.


However, you can't just come and join the guild without proving your skills, so you and two other participants are given the task of stealing the diary of the Imperial officer Amantius Allectus. Again, you can follow the objective marker and complete it before the others, but there is an easier way - wait until one of the participants does everything for you, and then steal the diary from her house.


Find Methredhel`s house, it is located here in the beggar district right next to the yeard where you started the quest, in a chest.


To complete the quest and get the achievement, you must also appear at midnight in the already familiar place and present XXX the diary you stole.

Fast travel to Imperial City Arena Location, enter the arena gates and go to the left door to enter training room. Find Owyn and talk to him. Over the course of many subsequent battles, this guy will be the one who will let you out to fight in the arena and pay you rewards based on your victories. Talk to him and choose "I want to be a combatant" and the achievement is yours.

In order to get promoted to Browler Rank, you need to defeat three Arena Pitdogs just like you in an arena fight. After defeating each one, return for your reward to Owyn and report that you are ready for the next fight.




Once you have done with the third fight come back to Owyn for your reward and he will grant you Brawler Rank that triggers the achievement.

Win the next three Arena matches to get promoted to Bloodletter rank.




Once you have done with the last fight come back to Owyn for your reward and he will grant you Bloodletter Rank that triggers the achievement.

Win the next three Arena matches to get promoted to Myrmidon rank.

Win the next three Arena matches to get promoted to Warrior rank.

Win the next three Arena matches to get promoted to Hero rank.

Win the next three Arena matches to get promoted to Champion rank.

As long as you finish all 21 arena fights, Owyn will no longer give you any arena fights.
The last option here you have is to face the current grand champion — Agronak gro-Malog on the arena.

This is the orc you constantly pass by when entering the arena. Talk to him and ask him to challenge you, then talk to the woman named Ysabel who sits opposite Owyn, she will arrange a fight for you.

You will unlock the achievement after defeating the current grand champion and taking his place.

To unlock the achievement, simply talk to one of the three guild representatives, who can be found in any of the three cities of Cyrodiil. Keep in mind that you must not have any fines or claims from the guards, otherwise you will not be able to join the guild.




Just ask a permission to join Fighters Guild and pick "Yes, sign me in" dialogue option.
