Steampunk city

The Great Mechanism sleeps beneath the city - a god that does not exist. It was created by the inhabitants themselves, but now they are afraid to admit that they are spinning emptiness

They rule from the Palace of Yellow Sounds, a tower where each floor rotates to a different rhythm. The queen collects dead cicadas by inserting their motors instead of hearts. The king drinks mercury from his predecessor's skull and broadcasts through loudspeakers

Don't trust the yellow light — it's older than you

It's a structure that remembers. It gets angry when its floors are empty. It cries like rusty water when it's forgotten. You are not a resident — you are a cog in its mechanism. If you break down, you will be spat out into the Pipe Wastelands.
