Well you're the one who thought of it! Reflection damage didn't even cross my mind when I worked on this guide.
I did the same test with Stone Monkey but did not manage to find a usable conclusion from it.

Finishing the quest grants you 20 armor. When you block attacks the attackers will always take slightly more damage than you would have. This is because stone monkey on common reflects 100% of damage, but you take slightly less due to the 20 armor.
Additionally, reflected damage is not affected by the stance Wukong is in - although the damage he takes is doubled, the reflected damage stays the same. Pretty suprising, considering he also deals double damage in this stance...
Does the damage reduction calculation apply before or after damage blocked?
• If the damage reduction calculation is applied before ,
then stacking armor is counter synergistic to characters that benefit and play into high amounts of blocked damage.
Vitality, would in this case, be the best defensive stat.
• If the damage reduction calculation is applied after ,
then you can stack as much armor as you would like to maximize Effective HP.
Armor would always be the best defensive stat.

The reason that those values work out nicely is of course that 1 Armor = 1% EHP when choosing x=100 .
I don't really see how finding the derivative would help over using the plot generated by desmos. Ofc if you want to plot the function yourself, using the derivatives is very important. Let me know if you have a specific example on using the derivative here.
Sidenote: The linear graph with the constant derivative is EHP, not damage reduction. You could derive that function to show that the derivative is constant, but that does ont provide any additional info over stating that the function is linear. So you could do either of the 2, and when making the guide I decided that simply showing the linear graph was easier to understand.
