EW REDUX – Sania & Volnorez
Electronic warfare goes hard

Rocks Scissors Update

Suicide USV Seafox compatibility

⚠️The update is in testing stage, if any fatal error will be reported, I will rollback the old version until the issue would be resolved.



Why a Remake?
To have a better jamming logic and one integrated jammer system for both present drone system - Crocus signal and vanilla.

What’s New?
EW Redux is similiar to Crow’s Electronic Warfare, but is different in details and some specifics
• The closer the UAV is, the lower is the signal and the stronger video feed distortion is
• Crocus Signal UAVs are affected as well as vanilla or other modded UAVs with exceptions
• Predefined jamming ranges (customizable in CBA settings)
• Ability to make specific drones immune to jamming
• Many more (check out Complete list of Functions and Extra features bellow)

How does it work?
Crocus FPV type drones: Jammer reduces their signal, lower flight range and video quality
Other drones (vanilla & modded): Jamming works by proximity, the closer they are, the stronger is spawned video feed distortion
There are two zones of Jamming:
  • Zone 1: Partial jamming is applied and at the edge of these two zones, special events might appear
  • Zone 2: Full jamming area → connection is cut off, unlike Crow’s EW, jammed drones are not AI-hovered; they usually fall and break or explode (in the future this is planned to be separated, so the non FPVs actually hovers, as they do in real world, when this happens)

Complete List of Functions
• 2 Jammer models: Sania & Volnorez
• 1 Signal Booster model (vanilla)

Jammers & Signal Booster can be:
• Disassembled / Assembled
• Stored in backpack or as a backpack
• Attached to vehicles or other objects (all this by player in-game, some actions works only from First person view)

Jammers can be turned on/off with default ranges: 150, 300, 600, 1200m
• Editable in CBA settings
• The jamming range is changeable by player in-game interaction
• The system is even more interesting with Battery drain ON

Linear jamming mechanic
All drones can be jammed
Crocus FPV, Ukraine FPV Drone, Kamikaze USV Seafox are all compatible
• Vanilla (Darter) and modded UAVs (Mavic) can be jammed as well (there are some exceptions e.g. Lancet)

Signal Booster
• Increases drone signal strength & counters Jammer
• Toggle on/off (attach feature WIP)
• The Booster must be nearby the player or UAV

CBA Settings
• Hidden if run on server (So the players don't know the set values)

Extra Features
Battery drain: Optional (CBA toggle, it is OFF by default), Bigger range = faster drain, battery change is involved, batteries are avalible in Magazines (Battery drain for Signal Booster in next update)
Drone jamming resistance: Fiber optics by default, others via CBA
Jamming events: Random behavior (so far only engine fluctuation, control loss, more WIP)
FPV Drone fuze failure: Chance to not explode on impact (the chance is CBA configurable), but it still might explode with time delay
Drone signal: Vanilla and modded drones can be add in CBA to use Crocus-like signal mechanic
Drone Destruction Key: Destroy FPV drone via hotkey (default: "H"), keybind customizable, standalone version avalible here

⚠️Known issues⚠️
  • Some drones are not compatible (e.g. Lancet)

  • Drone Signal mod is not compatible

  • TI and NVG are not affected

Future plans and ideas
  • TFAR jamming

  • Enemy/Friendly jamming

  • Backpack jammer

  • Better jamming effects, TI and NVG jamming

  • More CBA settings included for customization

Most of the addon base comes from Sam and DarkBall. Many thanks for their contribution with this unusual but very needed and actual aspect of warfare. In the Complete list of functions, the first 2 points are all done by them.

Seems to be all working without any errors, I like the battery drain.. Is "Backpack" jammer possible so an individual can carry it ? :steamthumbsup:

@Furi _ Great news on battery system.. I am just using the standard A2 along with fpv ai drone mod as enemy ai drones integrated into OPEX .

@RM Snipe To be fair, the battery feature is n1 on my wanted list, i might get into it after this week update. But still don't know if it is possible to get it work as I imagine.

I won't involve the feature of non crocus drones exploding because that's just out of my reach right now. Just for fun, tell me which drones would you like to be exploding, it might be doable with simple script.
