An important stage
To begin with, it is recommended to set up the game, change the graphics settings so that the picture becomes better. More precisely, change the parameters to custom and everything else to high settings, and also be sure to switch to directix11.



  • Feature:
If you want to increase sharpness and remove horizon blur in the game, you need to edit the GamerProfile file, which is located at the approximate path: C:\Users\computer name\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3. Find and edit the line with PostFxQuality="high" to PostFxQuality="false" and save.

| Dynamic Super Resolution
It is important to change the screen resolution to achieve maximum detail. Often it is enough to increase the resolution to 4K, but not everyone has access to such a configuration and to fix this, we use the NVIDIA panel - the DSR function. DSR-degree is the level of increase in the DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) resolution relative to the original. That is, you can choose how many times to increase the resolution (for example, 2.00x, 2.25x, 3.00x, and so on). This allows you to get 4K quality on a monitor with a resolution of 1920 by 1080.
HUD - Reshade mod
First, you need to download the archive with ready-made files, or more precisely, the ShaderToggler addon for HUD and its base - Reshade. All in one archive.

  • Installation:
Extract the files from the Hud - Reshade archive to the root folder with the game, for example:
ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3\bin
Where is the exe file.

  • Launch and control:
You need to run the game as an administrator, when loading you will see a curtain with a notification from reshade. Blocking/unblocking by pressing the Home button. From the main menu you can check the functionality of the addon and remove the HUD by pressing the CapsLok button and return the HUD by pressing it again.

Trainer
Trainer is a program that changes game characteristics. For example, make the player immortal or give him an infinite amount of ammo. But the main thing here is the NOCLIP function - Allows the character's first-person camera to move in any direction and pass through walls, supports in all directions without restrictions. This is a great replacement for a free camera!

  • Installation:
Extract files from the Far Cry 3 Trainer archive to any location.
  • Injector start and control:
The first thing you need to do is run the game as an administrator, after setting up the graphics, etc.
Next, after starting the game process, you need to minimize the game and run Far Cry 3 Trainer (+44) [1.05-1.06] {hex} also as an administrator, return to the game.

The main controls are on the numeric keypad and arrow keys, with Alt combinations. It's best to change the layout of the controls to suit your needs, so that the same button doesn't turn on reshade.

At the end of this stage, you can already be creative. The trainer works, Reshade removes the HUD on the CapsLock key. The main thing when combining noclip is to use the camera in the game on the Z key (to remove hands and change FOV), for the best result.
| Additional features of Reshade
ReShade is a versatile tool for changing post-processing effects in games. It allows you to adjust color saturation, contrast, depth of field, film grain, and other aspects of game graphics. However, you can experiment with this for a long time.

  • Detailed settings
Note that the game does not use the reverse depth buffer. You will need to go to the global CPU definitions and check that RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED is set to 0. This is necessary otherwise the depth shaders will not work properly.

Go to the settings tab in Reshade.
Go to the line and change the value.


This setting will make CinematicDOF work correctly, making your screenshots more impressive.


| Tips and Tricks
  • Reshade
Depth Buffer
The game has some faulty depth buffer detection at times, so you will probably have to reselect it before working on a shot.

Select the upscaled scaled depth buffer value in the settings of the "Generic Depth" addon.
To do this, go to the "Add-ons" tab in your ReShade overlay, and look under the Generic Depth addon.
You need to click the checkbox next to one of the values that match your monitor's native resolution.
It's normally the top one, but use trial and error and iterate through these settings until you can see the shaders line up properly with the in-game image.

  • Shader crash
I encountered some crashes when trying to enable a shader for the first time after a while of starting the game (for example, enabling Cinematic DOF). I tried enabling the shaders I want to use at least once right after starting the game to avoid crashes later. Sometimes the game crashes when using the RTGGlobal(qUINT_rtgi) shader, otherwise it's better to disable it.
  • Screenshot
I noticed that Reshade screenshot function doesn't work without Reshade menu open. So open menu when taking screenshot to make sure it is done. Sometimes game can crash. If screenshots still don't work via Reshade, try Win+PrintScreen (can also crash game sometimes).

All the tools in this tutorial were used for these screenshots. You can also do some additional cropping, panorama, and color editing for the final result using Photoshop, Image Composite Editor, and other programs.

Well, I found a couple more interesting discoveries, maybe it will be useful to someone:
- unfortunately, hotsampling does not work in the game.
- the Rakyat mod, which is installed via FC ModInstaller, may be useful because of at least 2 mods: one allows you to more conveniently rewind time by the clock, speed it up and stop it; the second mod can spawn characters
- Flawless Widescreen is perfect for those who want to take screenshots with guns in their hands - adjusts the FOV, but not in the way the game suggests.
- well, there is one life hack for creating screenshots of different formats - change the resolution to the appropriate format and play in the window: square, vertical, widescreen (I haven't tried it on panoramas, but it's possible if you expand the vertical it will be great - thing)

Yes, I know about flickering objects and glare, if they interfere, they can be removed without adding anything, but only by changing the configuration of the ShaderToggler addon inside the game via reshade.

well, the last problem is the icons and glare from the relics in the camera - it really gets in the way sometimes, of course, you can constantly change the FOV at high resolution (2K, 4K), but not everyone has such an opportunity and such a change of FOV is simply inconvenient.
