I actually do like getting negative feedback because it helps me improve. Sure, sometimes people are rude, but in general I see criticism as an act of kindness — an honest effort to help someone else. I personally try to avoid saying "they just didn't get it" because it can stop me from pushing myself toward a better solution. That's just me, though
Honestly, the negative comments I received came from people who didn’t understand the concept. Even so, the campaign barely has any dislikes, and those who did understand it were able to enjoy it a lot.
About the “puzzles”: they’re not difficult. Once you understand the mechanics, everything becomes very easy. Some people struggle with the first level, but they eventually get it and don’t end up hating it, since it has three ways to complete it.
For what it's worth, Anemoia's "glowing praise" is heavily curated. Even the lightest criticism seems to get deleted by the campaign's author -- including my review, obviously. It's a shame, I think that mod could've been something special if all the feedback was taken to heart.
All you need to do for a Backrooms campaign is design the levels and set the atmosphere. You do NOT sully it with things that are outside of what L4D2's strengths as a game are.
