If it is after some time, it is a vanilla mechanic, but my mod spawns predators at the nearest map edge to their prey, so they usually eat something easier before attempting to eat another predator.
If it is as soon as they spawn, maybe the path cost to reach the prey was too high for the predators right after spawning. Try disabling the option 'Hungry Predators' to let them roam a bit before getting hungry and that should prevent this from happening :)
You got me thinking now it maybe might be related to the eating rotting corpse mod! Thanks!
