The trick is to get as much Explosive Radius as possible. Bomb Necklace gives you 22% and Blast armor set effect gives you another 31%, then get your damage as low as possible. A low level Hand Mortar is perfect for this. Conveniently the mortar also frequently drops from Malugaz so once you break one, just delete it and equip another.
The fire ground effect from Malugaz doesn't seem to give you XP despite it taking damage. Anyway, placing floor tiles down is actually inefficient but if you're leveling it at Malugaz, there's a bit of a delay between boss spawns after you kill him and you can use that time to put down the broken tiles next to walls, lure him on top of them after he spawns and then blow him up. If you're standing close enough to him, you'll take damage from your own mortar which also gives you XP.
