Angle of Incidence (Version 1.1)

Beskrivning
Ever wanted a long, Portal-like campaign with a large focus on a single weapon? Well... keep looking! This is a short proof-of-concept map that stars the Crossbow and it's ricocheting bolts. To reach the end, you'll have to master the art of bolt-skipping.

I whipped this up in half a day, so there will probably be a couple of mistakes. However, I have thoroughly tested the 4 chambers to ensure that - in terms of gameplay - they should be functional. If you find any bugs or have any suggestions for a possible sequel to this map, then let me know in the comments! And, as always:

[Update 22/3/25, Version 1.1]

- Redesigned every chamber:

Chamber 01 "The IQ Test":
- Bridge now fits with the test chamber aesthetic
- Raised slime level
- The exit door can now be walked through without crouching

Chamber 02 "Bolt Skipping 101":
- Targets have had their height adjusted to make hitting them more challenging
- The room is now longer
- Skip indicators have been replaced by dark sections of wall

Chamber 03 "Vertical, Dude!":
- The targets are now closer together
- The exit can now be walked though without crouching

Chamber 04 "Triple Skip":
- The chamber has been brightened up
- Number indicators have been added to make the solution less vague
- One of the glass walls has been removed
- The back wall has been moved further back

- Player no longer spawns in with the HEV suit
- Player now has infinite crossbow ammo
- Ammo crates have been removed as they have been obsoleted
- Slime now instantly kills you without a delay
- Various improvements to visuals

Would you be willing to turn this into a full source mod? I've been looking for a reason to make a source mod and I love the concept of this and I would love to make this into a source mod. If you are interested just send me a friend request (Also I don't expect to get paid in any way I just want to do this for fun, and also because I think its cool)

For those who are stuck on the last chamber, there is a specific position to stand at and angle to fire a bolt with that will hit all three targets in a row .

You're supposed to make the bolt ricochet on both platforms and hit the 3rd target for the triple skip, right? Is there a specific positioning for it? I can't seem to get it right despite having bolts stuck pretty much all over

Nice concept. But, at the last part, you can jump crouch to get past the hurdle without shooting

Oh yeah this is what I'm talking about. I've always loved the crossbow bounce mechanic and I always try to use it in campaigns for the fun of it. I'm so down for more Portal Esque puzzles using this mechanic!

genuinely amazing concept static, i always loved this gimmick puzzle solving style like portal. im SUPER happy to see someone take advantage of the crossbow, seriously. i am so excited to see more of this in the future !! :bms_crowbar::physgun:
