This guide is for Haoplay (european) version of the game

Download the game. Do not launch it.
Set the game compatibility to Proton-GE-9-13
(if you don’t have this version, you need to install it through ProtonUp-Q app in Desktop Mode (it’s available in Discover App Store in SteamOS).
Also install Protontricks in Desktop Mode (it’s also available in Discover App Store) and launch it, then select there Girls Frontline 2.
Select “default Wine-prefix”, click OK.
Select “uninstaller” and install the “webview2 installer” – download it from here https://github.com/aedancullen/webview2-evergreen-standalone-installer-archive/releases/
Go back to winetricks and select “Change settings”.
Check there “renderer=gdi” and “windowmanagerdecorated=n”, click OK, ignore any warnings that you might get.
Now use ”run winecfg”, select “msedgewebview2.exe” and set it to Windows 7.
Launch the game and download game data in the main menu (around 30 GB).

Note: Game may not open the first time, so you may have to re-launch it. I, personally, sometimes try it several times, before the game launches.
After downloading data, while in the Main Menu screen do not press Start and do not click on the background, instead press the third button on the left side. Then game freezes for a second and then Login Window will pop up.
After successfully logging into the game for the first time, you can then log in by clicking on Start or background.

I can't guarantee that the guide will work for you, but these steps helped me get the game up and running and playing for a few hours. Proton-GE-9-13 worked for me, but Proton Expiremental did not.

Alexis this sounds like you need to patch youre proton with another webwiew2 witch is exectly the api that prowides the box you talk about sorry for bad english

Set the game compatibility to Proton Experimental or Proton-GE

Install Protontricks and launch it, then select Girls Frontline 2

Select default prefix, click OK

Run uninstaller and install the webview2 installer

Go back to winetricks and select Change settings

Check renderer=gdi and click OK, ignore any warnings that you might get.

Now use run winecfg, select msedgewebview2.exe and set it to Windows 7.

Run the launcher and install the game.

I click the third button and the screen goes black but then a box I assume is the login window is drawn as a border filled with black in the game window. Everything stays black and eventually it freezes. Any clues?
