Windows fix.
If you were in the settings of Plants vs. Zombies and you decided to turn off for some reason 3D acceleration and your screen decided to go into a frenzy then this will help.

Fix 1
Click Alt + Enter instead of the game being in fullscreen is gonna be windowed and go into the settings and turn on 3D Acceleration this should fix itself.

Fix 2

Press Alt + F4 this will close the game. Then press Win + R and type in regedit.exe
and press OK. Or click the Windows key on your keyboard and look up Registry Editor and open it. (Both of these will require admin rights though, If you do not have access to admin, your gonna be stuck.)

Go to the directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PopCap\PlantsVsZombies look for the key Fake3D right click it, press modify and change the 0 to 1. If you have managed to somehow get lost in the Registry Editor and changed a crucial file instead of the correct one, but still have the Registry Editor window open: Please revert back to the key you changed and if you remember what was the number, revert back to it and don't panic, if you don't remember you might have a problem. (It is usually 1 or 0 though.)

If this doesn't work, you may have missed something here. This should work on Windows 10 and 11 (Not sure if 8.1, 7, Vista or below work) and yes, i tried looking for a fix for this on Linux, but failed as Windows and Linux are different systems. While about Mac OS i can't check it at all.

If you want to contribute to this, please list a way to fix it on Mac or Linux. (Helps out others too.)
Linux fix.
This should work on every Linux system (Debian, Ubuntu, Arch, Gentoo or anything)

Go to your library on Steam and right click on Plants vs. Zombies and select Properties

Then in Properties go to Compatibility press Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and select Proton 4.2-9 (If you use anything above Proton 4.2 there will be issues with the screen flashing when in fullscreen, 3D acceleration exactly not working.)

And your done! You should have 3D acceleration on by the time you open Plants vs. Zombies!
Mac OS fix.
