You seem very intelligent on these matters.

Thanks for discussing a few things with me, I enjoyed reading what you had to say.

the game and its community would really benefit from a moderation team that is not connected to the game at all, but that isnt the case with it currently. there is also a lot of connection between the devs and popular community members, which makes the consistency of their moderation questionable. id imagine that the devs wish they could be even stricter with silencing critics, and it's why they prefer for players are funneled to their official game forums, rather than using the Steam forums, where they can moderate even more strictly to their own benefit.

that is very interesting in regards to accounts used for the posts that you mentioned. i have rarely ever seen another named Tower dev comment on the forums, it's almost always Mac. the official Pixeltail Games account is also rarely used. what i would assume happened is that Mac commented, but quickly realized that it would probably look better for optics if it appears that the decision they communicated (as well as your unjustified ban and thread lock) was a decision made by the entire dev team and not just him. Mac is the one in charge of nearly all decisions made in regard to the game and community surrounding it, despite this front. i think you're probably right in your assumptions for the account switch.

i hope they are held accountable as well. i understand that game developers on Steam need the ability to combat trolling and such on the forums, but i've seen it all too many times where developers use their moderation privileges to censor any forms of criticism or whatever they consider wrongthink, including unfair bans and locking threads like in this case. this sort of behavior definitely isnt unique to the Tower devs but they are one of the worst examples of it. to forum ban someone for just making a suggestion, like they did to you, is a new low that i hadnt yet ever witnessed on any Steam forum, however.

Unfortunately, there's really nothing anyone can do about it.

I do hope they’re held accountable someday. It doesn’t seem right that they can just erase criticism or suggestions from their forum simply because they don’t agree with them.

On a more minor note,
I noticed that MacDGuy initially commented, but about ten minutes later, he deleted it and reposted under the PixelTail Games account.
No clue what that’s supposed to mean, maybe he realised how shady it looked and chose to post under a more anonymous front. I got the screenshots too lol.

they are very selective with moderation and practice favouritism on occasion, i feel. it's really unfortunate to see this sort of behavior continue from them but not surprising. you didn't deserve that at all and i wish the devs weren't so thin skinned that they could actually allow open dialogue. i think you've caught them at a particularly sensitive time due to the "1.0" update being pretty widely criticized by a lot of the player base, and rightly so. Tower Unite runs worse than when i got the game nearly five years ago, and there's a reason why the player base is mostly a revolving door. all you were doing was merely suggesting more player freedom... they couldn't handle the mere thought of such a thing, and had to silence your voice immediately. their global filter censors words beyond just slurs, too, so it's a little questionable to me to see that was the angle they presented before locking the thread.

oh my, im so sorry to hear that your thread was locked and you were banned from the forum! that's so absurd, you did nothing but post a suggestion... that's about par for the course for those devs though. if you don't blindly worship every buggy update and ever dare to say anything they don't like, you're at risk of a forum ban/and or mute in game. i've seen it happen so many times to so many different people, a lot of which didn't deserve it... i've also had multiple forum posts of mine deleted from them that were on topic and not against TOS, and multiple temp mutes in game as well the permanent one i mentioned. im not gonna say i was always COMPLETELY innocent, but i also wasnt really saying anything very extreme, and it was never directed at others.

I read your comment NixEmotions and I appreciated the support!

That's pretty sad they issued you a permanent mute, and THEN decided to update the profanity filter. It's so wrong. But I'm glad they unmuted you in the end.

I also can't believe they just banned me and locked the thread.
I had no idea they were this strict with censorship.
Jesus Christ, it was just a suggestion.
