Popis
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero, better known as the "Zero," was a long-range, carrier-based fighter aircraft that played a crucial role in the early years of World War II, particularly in the Pacific theater. It first flew in 1939 and entered service in 1940. The Zero was renowned for its exceptional maneuverability and long range, making it a formidable opponent in aerial combat. It achieved legendary status in the early war years, dominating the skies and contributing to Japan's initial successes. However, as the war progressed, the Allies developed tactics and aircraft that could counter the Zero's strengths, and its limitations, such as its lack of armor and self-sealing fuel tanks, became more apparent. Despite this, the Zero remained in service throughout the war, serving as a symbol of Japanese air power and participating in various roles, including kamikaze attacks.
