Titan: Veiled Tempest

描述
Titan - Veiled Tempest
WARNING: This is a Plugin Mod. It requires BepInEx to be installed with the StationeersLaunchPad plugin.
See: StationeersLaunchPad[github.com]

Description
'Titan: Veiled Tempest' is my attempt at creating a more challenging alternative to Europa, inspired by other Titan versions by Vivien and murk. This version features two different weather events:
  • Acid Methane Rain (Volatiles) - Most commonly occurring.
  • Dust Storms - Less frequent but still hazardous.
These world settings can function independently, but for the intended experience, installing StationeersLaunchPad[github.com] is required.

Features with StationeersLaunchpad Installed
  • The first weather event occurs after 1 day instead of 7.
  • The first weather event is always Acid Rain.
  • Acid Rain and Storms do not trigger forced follow-up events (e.g., 'Regular' rain).

For an added challenge, consider using Free Lunch's Structure Thermodynamics mod alongside this world.

Gameplay Tips
  • Prepare early! Weather events will start quickly, so prioritize creating a safe storage space.
  • Beware of airlocks! Acid Rain leaves liquid volatile puddles, which do not count towards room pressure. Use a custom airlock script or a manual airlock with a liquid drain.
  • Solar power is ineffective due to frequent storms, but wind power is reliable.
  • Coal is rare on the surface but can be found using deep miners.
  • Oxite ice is scarce, but Nitric ice can substitute for furnace usage.
  • Leverage the cold atmosphereGas Fuel Generators are easier to set up.

Disclaimer
The Terrain Data for this world is currently just a copy of Europa.
Map layout, Spawn Points, Named Regions and Deep Mining Regions are therefore exactly the same as on Europa.
In later updates I might include my own terrain data.

Yep the launchpad is enabled for sure. I've got other mods like faster jetpack and wall directions which need it. I'd know if that wasn't working right :)

Ahh in that case it's probably all working the way it's meant to man :)

Once the initial rush is done, it's quite chill though tbh. Resources aren't a huge issue, furnace can be fired with nitrice and volatiles, works well.

I haven't tried the brutal start yet, but I imagine it wouldn't be much different. Smaller initial 'room' for supplies, and build up from there.

I actually like the fact storms seem less predictable tbh. What I did notice though was that the weather station doesn't give a warning before the storms. Just goes from green straight to red.

@PtDaFool
Are you maybe running this world without StationeersLaunchPad?

I actually didn't touch that part lately, first rain was always supposed to start after 1 day.

There is a delicate balance to strike here with the first storm. For the brutal start condition the added wind power that the first rain storm gives is almost required and at the same time it makes the normal start quite a harder as you noticed

Yep now it's a rush to get things inside before the first storm takes out the lander haha!

I don't mind that, but it might not be the 'friendlier' start you were going for.

The original issue is definitely fixed though, thanks for that! :)

Updated weather effects to be compatible with 'The storm update'

Rain looks and sounds a bit less rainy now, since I had to get a bit creative with the current version of the game's storm effects.

I hope that the devs provide a native rain effect again in the future

Hey good on you for being active mate. Great to see!!

Eh, happy to remain patient mate. It's a good idea in concept, and I like the distinction between an easy and 'hard' version of the planet as well. Makes it easier for players who might be newer to the game, and offers more experienced players more of a challenge :)

Updating the map for the new Storm effects might take a abit, since they removed the old rain effect.
Hopfeully I can get it done during the weekend.

My current vision of a 'hard' version of this world would be something along these lines:
- remove nitrice and oxite ice completely
- maybe add pure nitrogen ice instead to not have free access to nitrous oxide via nitrice
- maybe add more water ice (Real Titan actually has a LOT of water ice)
- still not sure about coal, real titan has a lot of hydrocarbons but not coal in the earth sense, but again, neither do any of the other stationeer worlds. I'd probably just keep coal at the level where it is right now.

The main challenge in this version would be to find Oxidizers for steel smelting. That would be true even if we keep coal in. Hydroponics would still be required to smelt it into steel in the first place. (Unless you get creative with extracting oxidizers from Ores like gold, silver and lead)

Thanks for the feedback.
I actually considered removing the ices you mentioned (+coal), but ultimately decided against it since design wise I just want this to be a more challenging alternative to europa that otherwise still fits the vanilla gameplay loop including ice and coal mining.

That being said I might release a 'hardcore' version of this map in the future.

Having said that, I'm not ruling out some other glitch with my other mods. The terrain update is brand new basically - who knows what else is in this release (I've sure not read all 1800 lines of their patch notes, much less do I remember them!!)

Oh if I can make a suggestion - yours is a nice world with some volatiles in the atmosphere. Maybe remove the oxite, vol and nitrice from the world to make it more of a challenge to do steel from hydroponics, have us think up other ways (like electrolysers) to make fuel :)

Not sure if that was what you were going for with your iteration, or if I need to update my version of the mod :)
