Ahh in that case it's probably all working the way it's meant to man :)
Once the initial rush is done, it's quite chill though tbh. Resources aren't a huge issue, furnace can be fired with nitrice and volatiles, works well.
I haven't tried the brutal start yet, but I imagine it wouldn't be much different. Smaller initial 'room' for supplies, and build up from there.
I actually like the fact storms seem less predictable tbh. What I did notice though was that the weather station doesn't give a warning before the storms. Just goes from green straight to red.
Are you maybe running this world without StationeersLaunchPad?
There is a delicate balance to strike here with the first storm. For the brutal start condition the added wind power that the first rain storm gives is almost required and at the same time it makes the normal start quite a harder as you noticed
I don't mind that, but it might not be the 'friendlier' start you were going for.
The original issue is definitely fixed though, thanks for that! :)
Rain looks and sounds a bit less rainy now, since I had to get a bit creative with the current version of the game's storm effects.
I hope that the devs provide a native rain effect again in the future
Eh, happy to remain patient mate. It's a good idea in concept, and I like the distinction between an easy and 'hard' version of the planet as well. Makes it easier for players who might be newer to the game, and offers more experienced players more of a challenge :)
Hopfeully I can get it done during the weekend.
- remove nitrice and oxite ice completely
- maybe add pure nitrogen ice instead to not have free access to nitrous oxide via nitrice
- maybe add more water ice (Real Titan actually has a LOT of water ice)
- still not sure about coal, real titan has a lot of hydrocarbons but not coal in the earth sense, but again, neither do any of the other stationeer worlds. I'd probably just keep coal at the level where it is right now.
The main challenge in this version would be to find Oxidizers for steel smelting. That would be true even if we keep coal in. Hydroponics would still be required to smelt it into steel in the first place. (Unless you get creative with extracting oxidizers from Ores like gold, silver and lead)
I actually considered removing the ices you mentioned (+coal), but ultimately decided against it since design wise I just want this to be a more challenging alternative to europa that otherwise still fits the vanilla gameplay loop including ice and coal mining.
That being said I might release a 'hardcore' version of this map in the future.
Oh if I can make a suggestion - yours is a nice world with some volatiles in the atmosphere. Maybe remove the oxite, vol and nitrice from the world to make it more of a challenge to do steel from hydroponics, have us think up other ways (like electrolysers) to make fuel :)
Not sure if that was what you were going for with your iteration, or if I need to update my version of the mod :)
