Introduction

I found it a bit unfortunate that the lore for Faeria, and by extension "Roguebook", has fallen by the wayside nowadays. So I've put in some effort to collate all of the narrative events that occur in Roguebook; this includes their dialogue options too!

This resource is useful for those that want:
  • To experience all of the events without suffering through RNG to encounter them.
  • To have a visual checklist of all events for completing the "Neverending Story" achievement.
  • To have a reference for obtaining specific treasure/card rewards.
In this guide, you'll find the following sections:
  • 📖 Lore
  • 👥 Heroes
  • 📜 Narrative Story Events
  • 📂 Editing Game Files
If you found the guide the useful, feel free to give it a like!
Lore

Roguebook's events take place in the fantastical world of Faeria, which is Abrakam Entertainment's previous digital card game; released in 2017.
📖 The World of Faeria

Faeria exists not as a typical planet that orbits a sun but as an expansive flat disc encircled by the body of Ouroboros, a giant snake that is currently eating its own tail.

The passing of night and day occurs due to the burning eye of Ouroboros as it circles around the disc. The lands closest to the Eye experiences summer, while the lands farthest from the Eye has their winter.

In turn, this means that the polar zones of Faeria are not located at the North and South points. Instead, they are situated in the centre of the disc as these areas are furthest from the Eye and receive less light. On the opposite end, the lands closest to Ouroboros' body experience sweltering heat.

Above and below the "discworld" of Faeria are two swirling void maelstroms created by the movement of Ouroboros. These black holes destroy everything that reaches them, including the divine energy of Faeria. Bit by bit, the world is slowly being consumed by the Giant Snake.
📖 The Roguebook
The ancients speak of an esteemed book of lore written since time immemorial containing all of the world's legends.

After the many fabulous adventures, that occurred in Faeria - Chronicles of Gagana (the final expansion DLC for Faeria; released in 2019), this relic was lost and forgotten inside the depths of a faeria well.

There it lingered for over a decade and through contact with this endless source of magic, the Book slowly developed both a wicked free will and mischievous personality of its own. Becoming the Roguebook!

By this time, notable characters from Faeria, like Sharra and Seifer, have grown into heroes and villains of legend in their own regard. Their thirst for finding new challenges will draw them to this powerful artifact, now known as the Roguebook.
📖 The Story

You are trapped in the Book of Lore of Faeria, and each page represents a new challenge.

The Roguebook contains the entire history of Faeria within its pages, including every legend and story that has ever been told around the campfire. Your heroes will encounter all manner of exotic beasts, endure powerful magic, and solve challenging problems.

Every time you play, the Roguebook generates a new world for you to explore. Said to contain all available knowledge in the world, rumors are whispered that those who dare to read the Roguebook can gain omniscience and attain near god-like status.

The pages within are filled with dangerous creatures, ancient legends, and exotic lands from the world of Faeria. The Roguebook itself is a mischievous entity with its own goals and motivations. It is able to rewrite itself entirely, always with the intent of tricking and fooling those who read it - trapping them for eternity.
Heroes

Heroes are your playable characters in Roguebook. There are a total of 5 playable heroes, each with their own unique mechanics and cards.

👥 Sharra, Dragonslayer
Lightning-quick, Sharra brings down her enemies before they can act.

Sharra is aggressive, relying on lightning-quick strikes to bring down her enemies before they can act. Working together with other heroes brings out the best in Sharra, making her cards cheaper and providing the defense she needs to fight in the front lines where she does the most damage.
👥 Sorocco, First Mate
Sorocco bulky body can shield allies from harm, or flatten his enemies.

Sorocco is versatile. His bulky body can shield allies from harm, or his powerful legs can allow him to leap into the back lines to flatten opponents that hide. When his half-ogre strength is not enough, Sorocco uses various items he gathered along his travels. His potions, flaming oil, and grenades make him a formidable fighting force.
👥 Seifer, Blood Tyrant
By transforming into a demon, Seifer unleashes his rage on those unfortunate enough to stand in his way.

Seifer can call upon the many devils he has bound to his will, forcing them to fight under his command. If they fail to please him, he's not above entering the fray himself. By transforming into a frightening devil, he can unleash devastating blows and powerful magic on those unfortunate enough to stand in his way.
👥 Aurora, Mythmaker
Aurora guides her allies, empowering them. If that proves not enough, she can call upon an army of frogs!

Aurora guides her allies, empowering them and bringing out their maximum potential. If that proves not enough, she can call upon an army of frogs to fall upon her opponents. Aurora may look fragile, but when she is in danger she can turn back time and shrug off the damage as if it were all a dream.
👥 Fugoro, Merchant of Wonders
Mischievous, greedy, an expert with a staff… This triton has more than one trick up his sleeve!

Infamous for being an adventurer, collector, pirate captain and frog-thief, Fugoro is a mischievous creature that happens to be responsible for the current catastrophe involving the Roguebook. He carries a large backpack full of treasures & magical coins wherever he goes, and is surprisingly agile with his staff, which he uses to leave marks on enemies. His magical coins provide a variety of bonuses in combination with the magical Marks he inflicts on enemies.
Narrative Story Events
Narrative story events can be encountered in the overworld by revealing & interacting with Narrative (scroll) tiles. Three of these tiles are generated in each of the three chapters (or levels), which means that every run you have the possibility of encountering 9 different story events.

In total there are 40 different unique events that you may encounter. Note that some events have specific spawn requirements, like hero composition, chapter restrictions, and map conditions. So it's possible to never encounter an event if you fail to meet the necessary requirements.

Additionally, as a bit of flavour, some events will have different dialogue text depending on both your party composition and the current hero order.

In regards to hero order, your two chosen heroes can either be "leading" or in the "back".

You can change this order at any time by:
  1. Clicking on the Party icon in your toolbar.
  2. Toggle the Star icon beside the hero name that you wish to become the leader.
  3. The selected hero will now begin fights in the front and additionally appear as the front character when you navigate the overworld.

Locating Narrative Events
Generally, you have 4 different methods to reveal points of interest on the map.
  1. Brushes
    • The default brush reveals all tiles within a 2-tile radius from your lead hero.
    • When you hover over the Paint Brush button, you will see both a green 2-tile radius and a number below your lead hero. The number shows the amount of explorable tiles (which excludes blocked or already explored tiles) that will be revealed if you choose to paint from your current position.
    • You can also gain brush pigments that temporarily boost your brush's abilities.
      • Explosive Pigment (Common) - Apply this pigment to your brush to reveal all spaces in a radius of 3 around yourself.
      • Stardust Pigment (Rare) - Apply this pigment to your brush to reveal a space and all adjacent spaces within a radius of 2.
  2. Inks
    • Inks also allow you to paint in the map but their abilities are much more specific and narrow in range.
    • You have the chance of obtaining 5 different inks to use:
      • Precision Ink (Common) - Reveal one space anywhere on the map (comes in a stack of 3 uses).
      • Ink (Common) - Reveal 3 spaces in a straight line.
      • Noble Ink (Common) - Reveal 4 spaces in a straight line.
      • Imperial Ink (Rare) - Reveal 4 spaces in opposite directions.
      • Royal Ink (Rare) - Reveal 5 spaces in a straight line.
  3. Sky Towers
    • Reveals (3-tile radius) the surrounding territory.
  4. Runes of Sight
    • Comes in two different types:
      • Rune of Sight - Reveals a random item on the map and all adjacent tiles.
      • Super Rune of Sight - Reveals a random item on the map and all tiles in a 2 hex radius.

Event IDs
Every single narrative story has an associated ID that the game uses to identify each event. During normal gameplay, there isn't much point in knowing these IDs.

However, if you're attempting to obtain the Neverending Story achievement, which requires you to encounter all 40 story narratives, then you will need to manipulate the game files in order to successfully get the achievement to proc.

Unfortunately, this achievement has been bugged since the games release in 2021 and with no further patches on the horizon, it's unlikely you'll get the achievement in a legitimate manner. This is because some events are not properly tracked, which generally isn't an issue because you can encounter events multiple times until the game finally decides to count it.

Unless, the narrative that wasn't counted is the one-time only Aurora Unlock event. This is the event that occurs when you first unlock Aurora as a playable character. Once it's completed, it never spawns again.

As such, you either have to start a new save file or manipulate your save file.

I would recommend the latter, which is why I have included the Event IDs beside the title of each narrative for your convenience (i.e. "📜 Event ID - Story Name" becomes "📜 1 - Three Wishes").

If you're interested in how to utilise these IDs, skip to the 📂 Editing Game Files section for more info!

Event Result 2
The adventurers enter a vast, marble chamber that stretches as far as the eye can see. On display along the wall are thousands of treasures, artifacts, and other curiosities. This must be a museum of some kind.

Some of these items appear to be very, very old. As old to this city as the city is to them. [Hero 1] reaches out to touch one, and everything vanishes. Where did it go?

Event Result 3
An acrid, sweet smell overwhelms the adventurers as they enter what appears to an ancient apothecary.

Flasks of sparkling glass line its shelves, some filled with strange and bubbling liquids. Most of these are unrecognizable. Could some of these recipes have been lost to time?

As [Hero 2] reaches out to grab one of the bottles, everything vanishes. The dream is over, but a smell lingers in the air.

Event Result 4
Though empty of people, this single armory could equip an army of thousands… no… tens of thousands. The weapons and armor seem to be forged in a strange, alien manner. Surely no mortal blacksmith could have done this?

As [Hero 1] inspects one of the shields more closely, the vision disappears.
📜 18 - Spell Whirl
The adventurers discover the entrance of a cave, where a droning sound can be heard from inside. On closer inspection, that sound is some kind of harmonious chanting.

As they walk deeper inside, it becomes quickly apparent that there is a distant source of blue light glowing from deep within. At the end of the tunnel, they find a secretive gathering of baby luduans, deep in joyful meditation. The air is sparkling with vibrant energy. Event Result 2
The adventurers explain their plight to the young luduans, who silently nod in understanding. They look to each other and begin chanting once more.

As they step away, they seem slightly changed.

It seems to indicate the precise location of all things that glitter in the sun. How is that possible?

Event Result 2
Not trusting it, [Hero 1] picks up the bottle and smashes it against the ground. Whatever its contents were crumble to dust.

Remarkably, what's left behind would make an excellent weapon.
📜 21 - Gates of Pandora

Before the adventurers lies a massive gateway, adorned with variously colored gems. Nearby, a mountainous, elegant dragon slumbers quietly. The adventurers quickly recognize this dragon as Orosei, guardian of the realm of Pandora - a world as full of treasure as it is dangers.

  1. Pet the llamacorn.
  2. Continue your quest.

[Hero 2] strokes the llamacorn from the tip of its head to the end of its tail. The llamacorn makes happy growling noises and exposes its belly to [Hero 2]'s ministrations.

  2. Continue your quest.
(Continuing to pet the llamacorn, will rotate between both dialogue texts and heal both heroes for 10 as well as add a Fluffy Daydreams to your deck each time. This can be done so infinitely.)

Event Result 2
[Hero 2] gives the Llamacorn a swift kick in the fur! It yelps in surprise. After a brief recovery, it spits angrily at the heroes and charges forth.

The merchant opens one of his bags and retrieves a sheet of old paper. He swears that it is the location of an amazing treasure. He holds his hand out expectantly for some gold.
  1. Buy the treasure map. (Spend 30 gold to reveal a new treasure on the map.)
  2. Leave.

Event Result 1
The heroes spread the map open and read it carefully. Hmm… it seems the treasure is buried not too far from here.
📜 27 - Animated Banquet
A strange looking creature with short legs runs towards the heroes. It seems to be carrying a large amount of unusually good looking food. There have been royal banquets with a lesser selection than this! The magical scent of these exotic dishes enchant and allure the two adventurers. They feel overwhelmed by hunger.
  1. Gorge yourselves. (See 10 new cards and add 8 of them to your deck.)
  2. Eat carefully. (Draft 1 card.)

Event Result 1
The heroes greedily devour the entire platter. It was just as divine as it looked. Regretfully, the meal eventually runs out and the heroes are forced to continue their journey.

Event Result 2
The quest is too important to stop for long. The heroes take a few of the tastiest looking dishes to go and continue their journey.
📜 28 - Majinata
As the heroes enter a blossoming forest glade, they find Majinata - the spirit of Everlife itself. Here is a place of neutrality and power. Majinata will deliver boons to all who visit, without fear or favour.
  1. [Hero 1] steps forward and… (Choose a boon for [Hero 1].)
  2. [Hero 2] steps forward and... (Choose a boon for [Hero 2].)

Event Result 1
[Hero] kneels before Majinata. Then, in a clear voice:
  1. Asks for healing (Full heal [Hero].)
    • Majinata release her magical breath upon [Hero]. Cuts and scrapes instantly fade to nothing. It seems that even old scars are erased by this rejuvenating wind.
  2. Asks for long life ([Hero] gains 10 max life.)
    • Majinata places her right claw on [Hero] and her left on a nearby tree. She closes her eyes and concentrates. The tree begins to wither and fade, but [Hero] feels their vital energies flourish. [Hero]'s mind flashes with images of rain, sun, and wind. They discover that trees, too, have a memory all of their own.
  3. Asks for her blessing ([Hero] gains Blessing of Majinata treasure.)
    • Majinata bends forward, cracking a tiny piece of her celestial antlers. She places it squarely between [Hero]'s eyes, and it sinks into their skin. It shall remain there as long as [Hero] lives.
  4. On second thought (Choose a different hero.)
Event Result 2
Same as Option 1.
📜 29 - Apex Predator

  2. [Hero 1] Kneel. (Add a [Hero 1] Hunting Card to your deck.)
  3. [Hero 2] Kneel. (Add a [Hero 2] Hunting Card to your deck.)
  4. Show your belly. (Add a Hunting Treasure to your deck.)

Event Result 1
The heroes dash forward, weapons at the ready. The creature seems to delight in this game. It dashes off into the surroundings, its powerful legs easily putting distance from itself and its pursuers.

The hunt is on.

(Tiles on the map become marked with footprints. Follow them to chase down the predator for a fight.)

Event Result 2
[Hero] kneels in respect, bowing their head low toward the creature.

It tilts its head to the side, considering the situation. The air is tense with silence for some time.

[Hero] hears a voice in their head. Not a voice... a growl. It is communicating somehow. Images of hunting, slaying, stalking... it is sharing experiences it has known. In return, [Hero] feels it taking some of their own.

(The following dialogue changes depending on the hero.)

["It's terrifying..." says Sharra.]
(Gain Fight or Flight card.)

[Sorocco shakes his head. "Brutal..."]
(Gain Rolling Camouflage card.)

[A wicked smile creeps across Seifer's face. The creature cringes slightly, but stays composed.]
(Gain Stalk card.)

["Oh my..." gasps Aurora.]
(Gain Primal Enchantment card.)

[Fugoro laughs nervously.]
(Gain Swamp Song card.)

Satisfied, it silently lopes away. [Hero] has learning something from this exchange...

Event Result 3
Same as Option 2.

Event Result 4
A terrible presence invading their minds, both heroes instinctively drop to the ground. They perform the universal sign of submission - rolling on to their backs and splaying their arms wide open. They show they are no threat to this ruler of wilds.

It tilts its head and seems to quickly become uninterested. This is no quarry worth hunting.

As it lopes a way, the heroes notice a mangled pile of bones nearby. A previous victim, one not so lucky. Some sort of precious item is clenched within its torn fingers.

(Gain Mask of the Predator, Claws of the Predator, Hunting Cloak, Hunting Spear, or Hunting Scope.)
📜 30 - Mother of All Yaks
One misstep, and the heroes have slipped through some sort of tear in the pages of the Roguebook itself. Upon opening their eyes, they find themselves in an otherworldly place. Before them, an immense… yet fluffy… creature stands proudly. It is the largest yak they have ever seen. An enormous gem full of rainbows shining brightly on its chest.

Many of what seems to be its children scurry beneath its legs, seeking protection.
  1. Rest below the Mother of Yaks. (Your heroes heal 20 life each.)
  2. Reach for the Rainbow Gem. (Gain the Rainbow Gem.)

Event Result 1
Following suit with its kin, the heroes walk carefully underneath the furry, horned colossus.

It watches carefully, but allows it. As soon as it determines they are not a threat, they are treated as another of its children.

Her fur is warm to the touch and incredibly soft. Just being in her presence is enough to rejuvenate oneself. The heroes welcome the much needed break and find a place to sleep beneath their new protector.

When they awake, she is gone.

Event Result 2
The matron of yaks recognizes the intent of the heroes quickly. It huffs, grunting to one of its favored children.

The rainbow gem dissolves into a million points of light, which then envelopes the yak that is now galloping toward you from the herd.

This beast has become enchanted with the power of the gem, and will fight to the end.
  1. Fight!
📜 31 - Royal Judge
The day of judgement has come.

"How do you plead?"
  1. Accept the sentence. (Pay 100 gold and remove a card from your deck.)
  2. Flee the tribunal. (A chance to escape, with risk.)

Event Result 1
Personal responsibility is paramount.

The heroes accept their fate with grace, and throw themselves before the mercy of the court.

After receiving their punishment, they are absolved of all crimes. If only they knew what crime it was…

Event Result 2
This isn't right! There has been no crime committed here.

[Hero 1] and [Hero 2] make a break for it, pushing their way through the wardens and guards.

Swords pull from their sheaths, and spears push into their backs as they flee to the door.

It is a bloody mess, but they make it out of the door alive. The room behind them vanishes.

Whoever deserved that punishment, they will never know.

(Lose 10 health.)
📜 32 - Forbidden Library
The adventurers come upon a secluded structure ringed with a menacing red light. The path behind them fades, and the doors ahead open invitingly.

Tempted by a strange compulsion, the enter. The air inside is still and musty. Thousands upon thousands of books line the walls, bound in cloth, leather, and worse.

A terrible sense of foreboding creeps into their mind.

Could this be the fabled Forbidden Library? These books were meant to be sealed forever...
  1. Explore the building. (A random hero loses 5 life. Draft a card for that hero.)
  2. Run. (Nope.)

Event Result 1

Should they read another?
  1. Explore the building. (A random hero loses 5 life. Draft a card for that hero.)
  2. Run. (Nope.)

It feels... invigorating. So many more books to see...
  1. Explore the building. (A random hero loses 5 life. Draft a card for that hero.)
  2. Run. (Nope.)
[Hero] pulls out one of the books. Pain and knowledge courses through their body.

There is a high price to pay for reading these ancient tomes.
  1. Explore the building. (A random hero loses 5 life. Draft a card for that hero.)
  2. Run. (Nope.)
(Text loops from the start; you may continue drafting cards until your hero has only 5 health left.)

(Choosing to run after taking a book.)
That is enough... this place has taken enough. It is wrong to continue reading from these tomes.

As they move past the last step, the entire building disappears behind them as if nothing was ever there.

Event Result 2
This is a bad idea. [Hero 1] and [Hero 2] flee back through the door.

As they jump over the last step, the entire building disappears behind them as if nothing was ever there.
📜 33 - Queen Magda
The Queen has summoned her most powerful subjects. She has heard of their past achievements, and would like to see how truly brave they are. They are given the privilege of choosing their battle.

Event Result 3
"Well then", declares the queen. A wry smile creeps across her face.

"Let the battle begin."
  1. Fight!
📜 34 - Doomgate
A frightening ritual is underway. A ring of summoners are seeking to open a gateway into a terrible, infinite darkness.

One of them ceases their demonic chanting, taking an interest in visitors.

They hold a curved blade outward, silently asking for an offering...
  1. [Hero 1] makes an offering (Reduce [Hero 1]'s maximum health by 1/3. Gain Void Stone gem.)
  2. [Hero 2] makes an offering (Reduce [Hero 2]'s maximum health by 1/3. Gain Void Stone gem.)
  3. Leave.

Event Result 1
[Hero] steps forward, placing their hand on the blade.

The cultist pulls quickly, drawing a line of blood. A bone white bowl is brought forth, and the life essence is collected.

In return, they place a dark gem in the hand of [Hero], and walk away. The gateway hums with energy.

Event Result 2
Same as Option 1.
📜 35 - Rain of Fish
The sky turns dark. Lightning strikes nearby. Startled the heroes fall to the ground for cover. A sudden and fierce storm has overtaken them.

Heavy, wet objects begin thudding into the earth all around. The slimy things write and flop in the mud.

Fish? Is it raining... fish?
  1. Hmm... Dinner time! (Each hero heals 10 life.)
  2. Study this strange phenomenon. (Add a Rain of Fish card to your deck with a random gem.)

Event Result 1
When life gives you lemons, eat them.

[Hero] and Aurora spend some time gathering the fallen fish. They were not long for the world, anyway. A campfire is prepared and the heroes enjoy a healthy dinner. A welcome treat.

(Both heroes heal 10 life.)

Event Result 2
Aurora smiles. She is familiar with such magic.

She picks a few of the fallen fish up, examining their scales closely. This storm was particularly powerful…

She has learned something new.
📜 36 - Imperial Camp
The sound of a humming mechanical engine catches [Hero 1]'s attention. What was once a silent valley has transformed into an Imperial encampment. This regiment appears to be conducting a training exercise.

One of the soldiers notices their presence and lays his hand on his sword.

"You there! Do you serve the Empire?"
  1. Join in the training (Increase a hero's stats.)
  2. Swear an Oath to the Emperor (Reveal the entire map. Add 2 Oath to the Emperor to your deck.)
  3. Leave

Event Result 1
The heroes nod, and are allowed into the encampment.
  1. Strength Training. (Pay 50 gold to increase a hero's power by +1 permanently.)
  2. Endurance Training. (Pay 50 gold to increase the max HP of a hero by 5.)
  3. Back.
After negotiating a special fee with the captain, [Hero] slips into the ranks of the training soldiers. It is a long and brutal training session, but they feel as if they have become a bit stronger.

Event Result 2
The heroes kneel and bow their heads.

The soldier relaxes, and welcomes them into the camp. They are escorted to the captain, who looks them over.

"You seem quite capable. Swear fealty to the Empire, and we can work together."

A small ceremony takes place, and the captain shares his knowledge of the nearby battlefield.

Event Result 3
The heroes turn their back to the soldiers, saying not a word.

As they walk away, the bustling sounds of the army fade away as if nothing was ever there.
📜 37 - Wheel of Chaos

A thin, burning wheel spins wildly into view. It bounces and twists across the landscape, leaving a small fiery trail in its wake.

It stops momentarily before the heroes, suspended magically in the air.
  1. Grab the Wheel. (Gain the Wheel of Chaos card socketed with 3 random gems.)
  2. Spin the Wheel. (25% chance to: Gain random gem / Gain random treasure / Both heroes take 10 damage / Lose -50 gold)
  3. Leave.

Event Result 1
[Hero 1] studies the rotation of the wheel for a moment, then snaps their hand out to grab one of its spokes perfectly. The momentum of the spin sets them off balance, but they're able to regain control.

This should prove to be a useful tool.

Event Result 2
Round and round it goes, where it stops - oh, it stopped there.

(Result: Gain a random gem.)
(Result: Gain a random treasure.)
(Result: Both heroes take 10 damage.)
(Result: Lose -50 gold.)

Event Result 3
The adventurers see no reason why they should be interacting with a large, mysterious, and dangerous looking wheel surrounded by flames.

They're probably right.
📜 38 - Soul Pact
A Shaytan materializes before the heroes. Perversions tainted by the light of the Ouroboros, these demons are a dangerous sort.

It smiles wickedly at them, offering them great power - at a small cost…
  1. Offer part of your soul. (Decrease both heroes' max life by 10%. Pick one extra talent from a previously unlocked tier.)
  2. Leave.

Event Result 1
The Shaytan's mouth moves into what could be described as a smile.

"A wise choice…" it hisses.

It takes one's explicit permission to trade in souls. The heroes' blood runs cold and the air feels heavy for a moment. They feel… lighter… when it is all done.

(You may now pick an extra talent.)

Event Result 2
The Shaytan are not to be bargained with, outside of wild desperation.

The heroes wisely ignore the creature and continue on their way.
📜 39 - Day of the Dragons
A terrifying roar is heard from the skies above. As the heroes re-orientate themselves, Sharra recognises their surroundings as the prophesised day of the dragons.
  1. Watch the vision. (Gain Dragon Spirit card.)
  2. Fight to destroy. (Sharra loses 10 hp. Gain Garudan's Talon treasure.)
  3. Draw them away. (Sharra gains 5 stacks of Courage for the next battle.)

Event Result 1
This is within the Roguebook, a vision pulled from stories and not a real event. Thinking this, Sharra chooses not to intervene. Nonetheless, the sight of the burning city will not leave her mind, and she vows to be ready when the day finally comes.

Event Result 2
Leaping through the fiery terrain, Sharra cleanly slices through Garudan's claw as he swoops too low to the ground. He lets out a deafening bellow from pain and the illusion shatters. Once more the heroes are on a grassy plain. All that remains is a ruby red claw.

Event Result 3
Letting out a cry, Sharra announces her presence to the dragons. Recognising her as their adversary, they cease their destruction and chase her. As she runs and dodges, she eventually notices the wingbeats growing softer. Turning around the dragons are nowhere to be seen. It seems the dragons were an illusion, but Sharra's bravery was not. She feels empowered going forwards.

(Gain Fearless status effect.)
Sharra starts the next batle with 5 Courage.
📜 40 - Ogre Dance
The heroes come across an ogre dance party. The nearest ogre shouts to the heroes. "A fellow ogre? Come, join in the festivities."
  1. Offer them a Cookie. (Trade an Ogre Cookie card for 200 gold.)
  2. Offer them Soup. (Trade an Ogre Soup card for 2 gems.)
  3. Join the Dance. (For the next battle, the first card Sorocco plays each turn is free.)

Event Result 1
With a calculating glint in his eye Sorocco tells them that while he does not have time to dance, he does have some amazing traditional ogre sweets that he can sell them at a bargain price. The heroes leave the ogres to their merrymaking, their coin purse clanking with each step.

Event Result 2
Seeing his brethren, Sorocco beams with joy. He asks them to pull out a pot so he can get some soup going, and they can all enjoy a meal together. The ogres are greatly appreciative and shower the heroes in lavish gems as they drink the delicious soup.

Event Result 3
Taking them up on the offer, Sorocco shows off his moves. The ogres laugh jovially as they dance the night away. Sorocco wakes up feeling refreshed, his feet continuing to tap a rhythm as the heroes walk.

(Gain Ogre Dance status effect.)
For the next battle, the first card Sorocco plays each turn costs (0) energy.
📜 41 - Blood Song
The heroes come across a group of kobolds, chanting as they circle a ritual blaze. They give a nod as they notice Seifer.

He is welcome to join the circle.

  2. Blood for Knowledge. (Seifer loses 15 life for a brush.)
  3. Blood for Riches. (Seifer loses 20 life for 200 gold.)
  4. Leave.

Event Result 1
Seifer steps into the circle confidently. Taking one of his blades he draws a gash along his arm and bleeds into the fire. "Let my enemies know my pain." He snarls as the fire rises to eat the crimson droplets.

(Gain Blood Song status effect.)
Enemies start with 10 Bleed next battle.

Event Result 2
Seifer steps into the circle confidently. "I want the world." He snarls and reaches into the fire with his hand. He withdraws his singed paw from the fire, holding a brush in his fist.

Event Result 3
Seifer steps into the circle confidently. Taking one of his blades he draws a gash along his arm and bleeds into the fire. "Give me wealth." He demands. The fire steams and goes out under the torrent of blood, and in the ashes are a pile of golden coins.
📜 42 - Celeste, Crystal Dragon
A shadow passes over the heroes, blocking out the sun. As the heroes look up they see the crystal dragon Celeste descending. She seems interested in the gems the heroes are carrying.
  1. Infuse a card. (Fill a card with random rare gems.)
  2. Unlock gems. (Return gems from a card to your inventory.)

Event Result 1
Looking at the heroes, Celeste seems content with your treatment of the gems. Her eyes shine bright for a moment and the heroes feel the power of new gems infusing them.

Event Result 2
Looking over the heroes' gems, Celeste seems unsatisfied. Her eyes shine bright for a moment and the heroes hear a *clink* as gems pop out, onto the ground.
📜 43 - Tarum, the Forest World
Looking up, it is as if a mountain is moving. Birds and more are stirred from massive branches, filling the air with all manner of woodland detritus.

A voice booms forth as if the earth speaks, and it becomes clear this is no lifeless mound.

"Come," it resonates, "The times are dark. Your bark is soft. I have plenty to spare, as you see."

If the thing could smile, there was no way of knowing.
  1. Gather a fallen branch. (Gain Branch of Tarum treasure.)
  2. Gather fallen bark. (Each Hero gains 2 Defend cards. They cost 0 energy.)
  3. Water the earth. (For the next 3 battles, block cards cost 1 less.)

Event Result 1
[Hero 1] kneels down and gather a thick, heavy branch. It is much weightier in the hand than one would guess. They have hefted bars of metal that seemed less dense.

Could any saw hope to bite into such wood?

Looking up at the thing, the thought seems blasphemous. It shakes its head, catapulting a flock of irritated but colorful birds into the air. "No blade of this age, I'm pleased to say."

How had it read their mind? Before they can ask, the vision is gone. A lifeless mountain remains.

Event Result 2
[Hero 1] kneels down and gathers an armful of thick, scaled bark. The bundle is much weightier than one would guess.

Event Result 3
[Hero 2] shakes their head and pulls a waterskin from their pack. They know this god-like creature to be Tarum himself, and the old rituals bound to him.

"You honor us, ancient one." [Hero 2] speaks as they pour half of their water to the ground. "We offer a drink for safe passage."

The massive things creaks and groans, nodding. "The old ways are lost to most... and no gift should go unreturned."

A branch the size of a tree shadows the heroes, and they feel their skin harden.

(Gain Blessing of Tarum status effect.)
Block cards cost (1) energy less the next 3 battles.
📜 44 - Wind Gate
The wind picks up, and sand fills the air. A strange tower raises out of the desert here, banners flapping noisily in the gale.

A high pitched tone resonates from the top of the structure, where it seems shaped to harness the flow of the wind in a very precise manner. There is an energy about it. The air feels charged like a battery.

A caretaker speaks from its marbled steps. "Grains of sand. Do you fly forward, or back?"
  1. We fly forward. (Travel to the next chapter and rejuvenate.)
  2. We fly back. (Travel to another random narrative.)

Event Result 1
Stepping into the tower, a powerful cyclone builds up around the heroes. The sound of the buffeting winds is deafening.

Just as it feels the pressure is overwhelming, the dust settles and the heroes find themselves somewhere completely new.

Event Result 2
Same as Option 1.
📜 45 - Chrysalis
A strange green casing dangles from a nearby tree. A chrysalis perhaps, but one so large?

Something pulses from within. As they watch a moth lands on its skin. Slowly and silently, it disappears within.

What danger will be birthed from such a womb?
  1. Carefully take the Chrysalis. (Start with a Chrysalis ally each battle.)
  2. Burn the Chrysalis (Gain Whelp Skull treasure.)

Event Result 1
[Hero 1] gingerly approaches the hanging chrysalis. With a sharp knife, they cut it free from the branch above.

It quivers slightly. [Hero 1] notices that some of their rations have been taken out of their pack. They watch as the food is slowly pulled inside of the object.

Maybe this was a bad idea...

(The Chrysalis will dissolve a card in your hand at the start of each battle. In Chapter 3, it will hatch into a Dragonling ally, with 10 attack and one extra card draw.)

The Chrysalis hatched... into a dragon!

Event Result 2
There is something wrong inside. If not wrong, certainly dangerous.

It is a cruel nature that has created such a thing. Though no pleasure is taken in it, [Hero 1] lights a blaze underneath the object. As it smolders into ash, it becomes clear what beast was inside.

Sombrely, they pick up its skull and place it into their pack. What's done is done.

(If Seifer is in the party.)
Before [Hero] can react, Seifer cuts the chrysalis down to the ground with wicked precision.

He grins hungrily, licking his lips. Kneeling, he lays his infernal palm across the pulsing object. Ripples of flame lick outward, and before long there is a raging inferno over what was once a living thing.

"Delicious..." he murmurs as he returns to his feet. He walks away without a thought.

[Hero] frowns, and sombrely collects what remains of its contents.
📜 46 - Flash Wind
A figure is seen in the desert, moving extremely fast. He stops briefly in front of the heroes, and introduces himself as a student of Khalim.

"Greetings, stone feet. Would you race?"
  1. Attempt to Race. (Gain Flash Wind card.)
  2. Ask to train. (Gain Khalim's Boots treasure.)

Event Result 1
The race is over before it began. Before the heroes can take three steps, the figure has vanished beyond the bend in a cloud of dust.

Around the corner, they find him resting in the shade of a large tree. He seems concerned.

"Your life is in danger at such a pace. I feel obligated to at least give you some chance."

In silence, he draws a series of symbols in the sand. Simply attempting to read them causes the nearby winds to stir.

Event Result 2
"Train?" he scoffs. "I have seen younglings more promising than you."

After some time… he considers.

"Yet, I worry for your safety. These lands are dangerous and I cannot have your deaths on my conscience. Take these."

The stranger hands the heroes the very boots off of his feet. They feel lighter than is possible.

"Take those, and cause no trouble." Before the heroes can answer, he is gone.
Editing Game Files
Roguebook's game files are fairly accessible and parseable without any specific applications. They can be opened with any text editor (i.e. Notepad).

Generally, there are two relevant files you'll want to access:
achievements_progression.json

Which is located at the following filepath:
C:\Users\InsertYourComputerUsernameHere\AppData\LocalLow\Abrakam Entertainment SA\Roguebook\Saves\Steam_#################

And...
run.json

Which is located at the following filepath:
C:\Users\InsertYourComputerUsernameHere\AppData\LocalLow\Abrakam Entertainment SA\Roguebook\Saves\Steam_#################\1\run

Note that the run.json is only generated when you have a current run in progress. This folder gets deleted every time you finish a run.

For a detailed explanation of how to edit the values in these files, check out the Steam guide linked below by @Devine.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2794738097
Archive Link[web.archive.org]

Additionally, a helpful resource is to extract the card ID list for every single card, treasure, etc. from the game files. If you navigate to the following filepath:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Roguebook\Roguebook_Data\StreamingAssets\GameBoxResources

You will find both a card.json and card.xlsm file, either file can be used to identify specific IDs for the items you'd like to edit in.
📂 Progression File Method
By accessing the achievements_progression.json file, we can manually set any of the tracking values for each achievement.

For a detailed walkthrough, please check out the Steam guide created by @Mackhdo.

📂 Run Force Spawn Method
The run.json file that's generated for every ongoing run allows us to manipulate our run in a variety of ways. From giving ourselves specific cards/treasures or infinite gold.

However, relevant to narrative hunting, we also have the ability to force certain events to spawn. Of course, it's simpler to just use the previous method of editing your save progression to obtain the achievement. This method is really for those that wish to personally experience the narratives themselves but don't wish to deal with the RNG of spawning them.

If we open the run.json in a text editor, like Notepad. We can locate the following line of code:
"storiesDone": [],
This line records the IDs for any events that you've encountered during a run. The game uses this to prevent an already encountered event from being encountered again.

For instance, if we encountered the Three Wishes and Llamacorn event, the code would update with the following values:
"storiesDone": [ 1, 24 ],
This means that if we enter in the IDs of events that we don't wish to encounter, they will never be included in the possible spawn pool for narratives.

Unfortunately, we do have to rely on this process of elimination as opposed to being able to directly spawn a specific event because events are generated once you interact with the scroll tiles; not before.

So, if we want to force a specific event, we need to:
  1. Start a run.
  2. Exit the run.
  3. Open the run.json file.
  4. Add the IDs of events that we don't wish to encounter.
  5. Return to the run.
However, we need to keep in mind that specific events have additional restrictions that govern their spawn. For instance, some events are hero-specific, like the Blood Song event, which requires Seifer to be in your party.

Thus, if you attempt to force the Blood Song event without Seifer in your party, the game will not generate any narrative at all. This is because it has no possible events to pull from. Any events have either been "encountered already" or there are unmet requirements (i.e. Seifer is not in the party).

Furthermore, chapter restrictions (i.e. Llamacorn is Chapter 2-only) or state limitations (i.e. Soul Pact requires your party to have at least 2 rows of talents unlocked due to its event content) have to be kept in mind as well.
Changelog

Thanks @4D glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, the devs had an interesting concept but any meaningful development ended up in limbo once Faeria became less than profitable. Their final DLC (Chronicles of Gagana) was advertised as the first part in a trilogy lol

However, their new Faeria-related 4X game is still in development so maybe there's still some hope of a comeback.
