One Thing to Say
So, you just got Hell Let Loose.

This is a game that takes time to learn the basics of. You will get very angry (if not if you have really good anger management) and you will really regret your purchase (at least for me, at first). Read the rest of this guide to learn the basics faster and learn more. I am not any pro, but I will help you get in the swing of things.
Role 1 - Infantry - Officer
OVERVIEW
The Officer is a very important role in Hell Let Loose.

What To Do as An Officer

The Officer is a leading role in Hell Let Loose, and it is not beginner friendly. The officer's goal is to spawn garrisons, which are basically spawn points. The closer the garrison to an objective, the better. Personally, I would wait to you learn the game more and letting a more experienced player play the officer before you do.

TIPS FOR THE OFFICER
Make sure to communicate! Communication is key, especially for playing as a officer. You should also plan.

THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
Officer is good for learning critical game mechanics, and learning the maps of Hell Let Loose.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
It isn't forgiving unlike some of the other roles of Hell Let Loose. It is very hard to learn. As an officer, you control lots of soldiers, and if you have no clue what you are doing, you shouldn't foresee good results for the team. If you don't like talking, then it isn't for you. It requires lots of communication.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
Personally, I wouldn't recommend it as it is a very crucial role in Hell Let Loose
Role 2 - Infantry - Rifleman
The good old rifleman.

Overview

Rifleman is a very good role for beginners. There is not much to learn and isn't too hard for a beginner. It also has a simple and beginner friendly loadout. You will also learn basic gun play and how to play the game a lot.

What To Do as A Rifleman

The Rifleman's job is to hold positions and points and to capture points.
TIPS FOR THE RIFLEMAN
Communication is key, always. Be aware of your ammo consumption, and beware of your position and surroundings. Use your utilities, like your smoke grenades and fragmentation grenades.

THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS

The good for beginners of the rifleman role is that it is very easy to learn and simple to use.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
You may have worse luck in close-quarters combat, as you have a rifle, and that isn't fit for close-quarters combat. Of course, you can do it, but you have worse luck, especially if you are facing an assault role or a role that has an automatic weapon.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION

In my opinion, this is the best choice for a beginner. Yes, definitely play rifleman if you are a beginner, it is pretty much the perfect starter role.
Role 3 - Infantry - Assault
OVERVIEW
The Assault role includes a sub-machine weapon on each teams.
WHAT DOES THE ASSAULT ROLE DO?
The assault role specializes in close-quarters combat, and aggressiveness.

TIPS FOR THE ASSAULT ROLE
Focus on close-quarters combat, as trying to shoot further with a SMG is going to be very inaccurate.
Play aggressive; you have an advantage, and you should use it. Since you have a SMG, you can invade known-enemy positions and get kills. Make sure you can be sniped from a sniper or rifleman, since you can really engage, and if you do, you won't do anything and just die if you don't get the hell out of there.
THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
If you play aggressive, this is a very good role for you, since this role allows you to do so.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
The SMG contains more recoil that can take some time to master; so remember that. You can't engage in further combat.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I recommend the assault role to beginners, as it a good role to learn and can be deadly if learned and mastered. It is perfect if you are aggressive.
Role 4 - Infantry - Automatic Rifleman
OVERVIEW

The automatic rifleman mainly has some sort of a LMG (light machine gun). It is a good role for beginners.
WHAT THE AUTOMATIC RIFLEMAN DOES AND TIPS
It is easy as you can spray to provide covering fire to help your squad rush up to the objective when there is opposing fire. Cover is very important, as it can help your team win more matches. You can also hold positions with your LMG by providing suppression, and scaring opponents, meaning they can't move up, or at least they can't move up fast. You can also do the "spray and pray" method, meaning just spray your gun into areas the enemies are in, and hope that you kill people, which isn't the best but sometimes it works, lol.

THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
The automatic rifleman is easy in it's own way, as you can provide covering fire or holding points, which with a LMG that assists you, is pretty easy to learn.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
Now all that sounds good, but there is some cons. LMGs can take a while to learn how to control them as they have high amounts of recoil. You can also run out of ammo, since LMGs don't come with a lot of reloads, as LMGs fire lots of rounds.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
Yes, I think you should play the automatic rifleman role, as it can teach you a lot and is easier to learn and use.
Role 5 - Infantry - Medic
OVERVIEW
The Medic is a very important class. It is good to learn since it is very important.

WHAT DOES THE MEDIC DO?
The medic's main focus is reviving and healing teammates. It is very important, especially if the teammate has a good position. It is very team-based and you shouldn't focus on getting kills.

TIPS FOR THE MEDIC
The medic should stay with your squad, but be cautious and stay alive as long as possible, as the role of the medic is focused on healing and reviving teammates.

THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
It is a very non-combat role, and heavily team-based, meaning you don't need to have a good shot to be a medic. Obviously, it is better, but isn't needed. It isn't hard to learn and play as a medic. You should stay close to your squad, but don't do anything stupid, and make sure you live. You should use your smoke grenades for cover to heal teammates.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
If you are someone who would like to get kills, the medic isn't for you. The medic is very team-based and not combat-based. Also, remember you don't have unlimited resources.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
Yes, it is great to play and learn the medic, as it is very important to have a good medic. Just make sure you are being smart with your choices and try to stay alive.

Role 6 - Infantry - Support
OVERVIEW
The support role specializes in supporting the team.

WHAT DOES THE SUPPORT ROLE DO?
The support role resupplies the team of ammo, can repair or build fortifications, the support role can call supply drops that include ammo, medical supplies, or materials to help your team win.

TIPS FOR THE SUPPORT ROLE
Repair and build fortifications. Fortifications make the defense way stronger and harder for the enemy.
Make sure to play your role; again, this is one of the roles that doesn't fully specialize in combat, and is more team-based.
THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
If you like supporting the team and might not be as good at combat, this may be good for you. Also, if you have good strategies (which you can look this up on YouTube or online someplace), or just personal strategies, this is also a good role. It isn't too hard to learn.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
This role doesn't include lots of combat, so if you are one of the those players who are aggressive, this isn't the role for you.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I would recommend this role if you don't care a lot about combat and care more about helping the team. A good support player is very important, it isn't all about the kills and combat. If you are aggressive, I wouldn't recommend this role.
Role 7 - Infantry - Machine Gunner
OVERVIEW
The Machine Gunner is another very important role in Hell Let Loose.

WHAT DOES THE MACHINE GUNNER DO?
The machine gunner specilizes in providing covering fire and suppressing enemies.

TIPS FOR THE MACHINE GUNNER
Provide covering fire; in short terms; spray your machine gun. This will help your team move up and rush to get to the objective, as if the enemies run up, they will die because of your fire. Position yourself in higher areas like hills, windows, rooftops, maybe some rocks, etc. This can give you a clearer view of enemies. You can also guard positions or objectives with your machine gun, which can ensure the objective being captured.
THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
If you like big guns and helping your team, this is a pretty good role. It is a pretty simple role to learn and can be pretty fun.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
You carry less reloads, so be careful of your consumption of ammo. You also walk slower since you have a big weapon. You may get less kills if you suppress a lot.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
If you like helping your team and guarding some points, this is a pretty good role for you.
Role 8 - Infantry - Anti-Tank
OVERVIEW
The Anti-Tank gives you an anti-tank weapon.

WHAT DOES THE ANTI-TANK ROLE DO?
The anti-tank role specializes in destroying tanks.

TIPS FOR THE ANTI-TANK ROLE
Sneak up behind tanks to remain undected. Then shoot. Don't start shooting at it without cover, and while being detected. This will help you get better shots in and make your shots count.

THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
It is easier to learn but you need a sense of what you are doing. If you like stealth gameplay, destruction and explosions, this may be for you. Remember, you are very important.

THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
The anti-tank weapons have limited ammo, so make sure you learn how to control the weapon. You are very important.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
If you like stealth gameplay, this may be for you. Even if you don't want to play stealth, you will still like it if you seem like you will.
Role 9 - Infantry - Engineer
OVERVIEW
The engineer is very crucial for victory and is very important.
WHAT DOES THE ENGINEER DO?
The engineer makes defensive fortifications, repairs friendly vehicles, and can destroy enemy fortifications.
TIPS FOR THE ENGINEER
Be very cautious of your surroundings, do your job, and assist your team with foriifications, and keep them with supplies.
THE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS
If you don't care about combat and would rather get ready for combat and help your team, this is really good. A good engineer is very important.
THE BAD FOR BEGINNERS
If you don't like building and preperation, this isn't the best role for you. It takes time to learn.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I would not recommend playing the engineer as one of your first roles, as it takes a strong game sense and knowledge about this game.
Quick Statement
I will NOT be doing recon and armor as these aren't the greatest starter roles and they require more game sense and skill. Overall, they aren't fit for starters. Just wanted to make this clear.
Tip 1 - Take your Time
Tip 1 - Take your Time

Take your time!!
I see so much players nowadays moving very quickly from one position to the other. Take your time because moving positions so much is very risky and dangerous, especially for beginners. Don't worry; you will get good, it will take time to understand the basics of this game. Make sure you check your surroundings, use your equipment such as smoke grenades and fragmentation grenades.
Tip 2 - Communicate
Tip 2 - Communicate

Make sure to communicate with your team, as it can help win rounds and reduce deaths.
I get it; you may not like talking with your voice, which is helpful, but not necessary. You can always use the in-game chat to tell your teammates about positions and other helpful information.
How to use - Smoke Grenade
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE THE SMOKE GRENADE
For example, you can use smoke grenades to help your team move to another position or objective when there is known enemies around that can easily shoot you. BE CAREFUL, as they can still shoot so stay cautious. The main use of smoke grenades is to cover yourself or your team.
How to Use - Fragmentation Grenade
HOW TO USE THE FRAGMENTATION GRENADE
It is very simple. You can use the fragmentation grenade to clear buildings or small areas of enemies, which can ensure that the space you are going in is clear of enemies if used correctly.
TIP: If there is a window in a building, you can throw the grenade in there, and it can cover a different or certain room.
How to Use - Melee Weapon
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE THE MELEE WEAPON
The melee weapon can be very useful at close-quarters combat. If you are out of ammo, you can press B and attack the enemy with your melee. It can be very helpful at times so make sure to remember you have it and not instantly give up.
Any Extra Tips
Basically, don't give up. When I first got this game, I was on the edge of quitting. I kept playing and learning it and eventually, just got better. It is very rewarding in my opinion, and will make you feel good about yourself every time you see yourself get better. Look at YouTube or go online and look at tutorials or ask others for more tips or ask them questions. This will help you learn the game better. Trust me, I was raging and hated this game, I still do that besides hating the game. It just takes time to learn this game. Stay with it, it is really fun once you learn the game and learn the basics. It took me a few hours of gameplay before I noticed any improvement, but with research and hopefully this guide, it will take you less and give you a new look at the game.
Goodbye
Welp, this is the end. Good luck! You will get it soon. Have a good day.

If its possible, then i find throwing the smoke AT the enemy instead of just using it to cover an approach is the best way to go. Not only do you blind the enemy towards the spot you want to run, it also blinds them seeing other angles. This is especially useful when assaulting a fortified position.
