"What if you can carry all healing items at once? Would you empty all medkits in No Mercy Hospital?"

Well, this mod is the twin brother of Grenadier Mode & Gun Collectors. This allows survivors to store healing items to virtual inventory. Yes, you can pick all healing items & store them all. It means that you can carry medkit, defib, pills & adrenaline shot at the same time without having to use weapon script mods that change item slots.

List of features available on "paramedic survivors cfg.txt" file:
  1. Paramedic Mode: Which mode is used. 0= Mode 1 (default L4D2). 1= Mode 2, dropped healing items will disappear.

  2. Medic Limit: How many healing items survivors can carry for each type. Max value is 10 (10 medkits, 10 defibs, 10 pills, 10 adrenaline shots. Are you a walking hospital...? :D)

  3. Medic Notification: This is to controls whether an instructor hint will appear to show the healing item stocks in inventory when picking a healing item.

  4. Allow Bots To Use Inventory: When enabled, bots can pick their healing items in virtual inventory when they reload guns.

  5. Virtual Inventory Update Mode: This one controls how the virtual inventory is updated, whether it's via event functions or timer. If it's set to 1 or higher, virtual inventory is updated regularly based on the value set (examples: 1= every 1 second, 2= every 2 seconds etc).


The mechanisms of picking & storing healing items:
  • When you pick a healing item, the item will be registered to the virtual inventory.

  • You can't pick same items (examples: if you have medkit, you can't pick another medkit). But you can press "RELOAD + SHOVE" if you want to store healing items manually (in case if you want to pick same items).

  • When you have 2 different healing items of the same slot in virtual inventory, press "E + SHOVE" & shove any objects while holding a healing item to switch between healing items.

  • If you have item other than medkit or defib on medkit slot (like explosive ammo pack) but you have medkit or defib in virtual inventory, you'll pick that medkit/ defib but you will drop the ammo pack on the ground.

  • If you have no healing item in slot but you still have some in virtual inventory, just shove any objects to pick the healing items in virtual inventory.

  • The item switch orders are like this:
    MEDKIT > DEFIB > MEDKIT
    PILLS > ADRENALINE > PILLS


"Will this conflict with mods that replace healing item slots"

Unfortunately. yes. This mod uses the default slots of healing items, so, if you change adrenaline slot to other slot like slot 7, the item switch mechanisms won't work properly, although you can still get the adrenaline shot.


So with this mod, don't miss any healing items. Pick them all...! It's ok to be greedy :D .


NOTES:
  • A video preview will be added later.

  • A known bug: If you use mods that can swap items between survivors by shoving them, the number of items in the inventory won't be reduced even if you give your items to other survivors.

@ Skerrox , unfortunately no. The virtual inventory only reads & saves items if the healing items use original slots

is there a version where defibrillator is on pills/slot 5 section since i'm playing nightmare modpack

gotcha. as for incapped pickup and self revive, maybe you could port these plugins that do the same thing:

@Kouga , "Grenade Stack" is good only if you want to focus on only one grenade, like, if you want to carry multiple bile bombs, molotovs etc. The bug about the amount of grenade getting reset is because it uses ammo from the grenade itself instead of virtual inventory, & when the grenade is dropped, the ammo is reset.
As for interacting with objects when incapped, I'm not sure if that is possible or not. I ever tried to make a survivor rise from incap by himself when holding E, but the button was unresponsive. Probably I'll try that later after I solve that survivor's self revive problem.

ahh well worth a shot. i do use grenade stack because i have a bit more control with which grenades i get next, although there really is the bug persisting where the amount disappears if you pick up a different bomb. but thats another matter. could you instead make a mod where you can pick up items & interact with objects (using E) while incapped?

@Kouga , probably it's not possible to have same items on different slots like that. Actually there's also "Grenadier Mode" for carrying multiple grenades in virtual inventory.

@kurochama yeah but imagine switching them back and forth....or like be able to carry pipebombs molotovs and bile bombs on different slots... there havent been any that are able to produce stuff like

1) pipe pipe defib
2) defib molotov molotov
3) pills adrenaline bile bomb
etc...

im not sure if its because its impossibly hard or what but i think it would be one of the best mods out there if it were made

@Kouga , I think there should be mods out there with such features like having medkit & defib on different slots.

@kurochama hey! i have a mod request but i have a question: you know how you can reassign items and weapons to different inventory slots? well is it possible to assign a single item so that you can put them in 3 different slots? here is the idea: what if you could pick up a medkit, a defibrilator, and an ammo pack in the throwable slot, medkit slot, and consumable slot respectively? so instead of storing multiple items in a virtual inventory, you get a maximum of 3 free slots to choose what to carry. what do you think?

@Goosifer412 , check here: ".../Steam/steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/ems/paramedic survivors". The file is generated only when playing with this mod for the first time on Singleplayer or local server you host.
