Oosumi Peninsula of Kagoshima Pref Map

This map covers the Osumi Peninsula in eastern Kagoshima Prefecture, where the author used to live. It overlaps with Miyakonojo Prefecture, which was established for a short time immediately after the abolition of feudal domains and the establishment of prefectures in the early Meiji period. There are many Shirasu plateaus, and it would be extremely difficult to build a railway connecting the center of the peninsula with the base and tip of the peninsula.

This map makes it possible to recreate the former JNR Osumi Line and Shibushi Line, as well as the dream of a trans-peninsula railway, building a railway to the Uchinoura Rocket Launch Site, and the Takakuma Tunnel currently being planned.

With a declining birthrate and an aging population, the region has a population of just 500,000 and has produced two Secretary-Generals of the Liberal Democratic Party. The player can develop the idyllic coastline, where monkeys and cats coexist, into a bustling urban area, or they can concentrate industry in a major livestock-producing area. What to do with this region is up to the player's skill.
