Green Forest Encyclopedia Guide

A complete guide to the Green Forest Encyclopedia on your journey to earn your S ranks, treats to boost your health and stamina, 'handsome rewards', and make your gathering sessions as fruitful as possible! Most things are just a matter of time to complete while others require a more keen eye and mastering the mechanics of the game.

I hope with this will attract more people to this adorable game and give it the love it deserves. I made this guide while the game was in early access, but I assure it's up to date. I've already made the Cloud Meadow Guide and Starlit Cave Guide is in the works!

    Research Topic
    ~ Collect at least 2 Squishychubs before they escape to their burrows
    Two of them are always around the burrows, get the one closer to it just in case
    ~Collect Squishychubs lured away from their burrows
    Get the little ‘?’ icon and stand still a bit away from their normal location near the open and wait for them to hop towards you (might be hard to keep their attention. Grab them when the ‘!!’ icon appears, they will also start to act nervous and sweat ( poor thing :c )
    ~Draw a unique object with a quill.
    Smaller than average, averagely noticeable
Bush Bug
Day/Night - Produces Bush Bug
Tool/Potion: Net/None (shaking bushes)

    Research Topic
    ~ Collect a bush bug chasing a pompom
    Specific to the bush bugs hanging out with the pom poms at night, just run up and net them (this will annoy the pompoms and you won’t be able to collect from them after this)
    ~ Collect in one second after appearing
    Self explanatory, be fast when they pop out of the bushes
    ~ Draw unique objects with a quill
    Subject is blue instead of yellow, highly noticeable
Pumpkin Terrier
Day - Produces Pumpkin Terrier Fur
Tool/Potion: Glove/Weed Extermination

Research Topic
~ Collect 4 or more times before running away
When using gloves, you're going to have to chase the subject around to interact with them a few times before getting anything.
~ Collect using the appropriate potion
Weed Extermination Potion
~ Draw unique objects with a quill
Unique subject sports yellow eyes and orange berries, unlike the common subject's red eyes and bright yellow berries (an extra detail added after the full release of the game, thank you Cordeliane) - now averagely noticable
Also a fun secret when using the proper potion, the unique subject is secretly THREE puppies in one tangled mess, rather than one big terrier

Walk slower by using the ‘shift’ key with the net ready, much easier!

Don’t chase them around, just wait by where they usually sit for them to flutter in front of you. If you swing the net too early the butterfly will leave

Sprout Bird

Subject has two eyes/heads(?) (above) compared to common (below) same color pallet - difficult to notice

    Pet those lil mouthbreathers when they’re NOT rolled over (won’t be able to collect bubbles from them as they take a nap, but it’s so cute!)

    Rare variation that happens when collecting smile bubbles via bellyrubs to common or unique subjects

Sparkle juice, interchange clicking on each bird until they both fly away to get the most feathers

Go to where the pompoms sleep during the day, the normal ones (right in both images) have brighter green leaves under them while the unique ones (left in both images) sit in darker leaves that match the tree canopy / the unique ones also have a yellow circle on their bum while they’re out at night - difficult to notice

Arm yourself with the net, walk/run through the subject, then turn to catch the pollen, there’s plenty of time!

    Subject is larger/arranged differently with lighter brown and yellow details compared to the common version - averagely noticeable

The Earbud potion, worth four charges of protection against a mandrake scream (unique subject counts as 1 scream)
Pre-release: it was a timed event, thank you vikinglief for the updated note

Unique subject has a wider arrangement of leaves (targeted) and will be revealed to be siamese twin mandrakes! Averagely noticeable.

Pumpkin terrier has now orange berries instead of yellow, I would say it is at least averagely noticeable :)

As a head's up, with the 1.0 release, the Earbud potion has changed slightly. It now will show 4 white dots over your head in addition to the earmuffs. You get 4 "charges" of ignoring the sound, rather than it being strictly time-based (have not tested if it will ALSO go away after some time). This changes the advice for the Little Mandrake slightly in that, no matter how fast you go, you have a fixed number of gathers per potion
