What does this mod do?
  • Attracts zombies to dead bodies (animals included), and makes them eat them.
  • Attracts zombies to the player.

How does this mod work?
  • It simulates smell emitted by dead bodies.
  • It simulates smell emitted by the player, blood that is on the player, and on items in the player's inventory.
  • It utilises the wind speed to extend the distance smell travels.
  • It utilises the wind direction to determine if zombies can smell the dead bodies/player.
  • Smell also radiates in a circle around dead bodies / the player (unaffected by wind).
  • It does not use sound events, so only zombies in the loaded world (active cell) are affected.
  • It does not spawn zombies.

Is it configurable?
Yes.

Potential features to come
  • Temperature having an effect on the smell emitted by dead bodies.
  • Rain dampening the smell of dead bodies.
  • Cologne/Perfume/Soap masking the player's smell.

Unfortunately it causes stutter in my game, when I go to densly polulated area and leave it/go to some forest, game still stutter every 2-3 seconds (even when I have stable 30fps). When I visit a big city game becomes unplayable. It looks like stutter buildup due to zombies in memory. Maybe there is some problem with garbage collection. I was trying to pinpoint what is causing this issue for me so I started disabling mods one by one. Disabling this one fixed issue for me. I didnt saw anything in the logs, no messages in debug mode.

Idea for if they ever get bandits and zombies separated a reverse of this mod that causes bandits to avoid zombies by smell and less likely to recognize there is a player if he stinks like zombie

Awesome thing. For those who are bored with only shamblers, hightly recommend putting sprinters at 95% and mixing it with this mode, for those jittery insane people like me who love adrenaline
