Ju 87 G-2

The Junkers Ju 87, better known as the "Stuka," was a German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft that played a significant role in the early years of World War II. It first flew in 1935 and was introduced into service in 1937. The Stuka was a distinctive aircraft with its inverted gull wings, fixed landing gear, and in earlier versions, a loud, piercing siren that was often used to instill fear in its targets. It was highly effective in the Blitzkrieg tactics used by the Germans in the early war years, providing close air support and disrupting enemy formations. However, as the war progressed, the Stuka's vulnerability to enemy fighters became apparent, and it was gradually phased out of frontline service.
