one very important thing you need to know before we start is heat levels

as your heat level increases, more types of cops and roadblocks are added in the pursuit

heat level 1: ford crowns: slow speed, weak.

heat level 2: ford crowns, ford crown roadblocks: weak.

heat level 3: ford crowns, dodge chargers: high speed, and slightly stronger than ford crowns, suv roadblocks: very strong.

heat level 4: dodge chargers, suvs: high speed, very strong, suv roadblocks.

heat level 5: dodge chargers, suvs, corrvette zo6s: very high speed, can drop a spike strip if in front of you, very weak, corrvette zo6 roadblocks: has a spike strip in the middle, very weak.

heat level 6: dodge chargers, suvs, corrvette zo6s, corvette zo6 roadblocks, swat vans: almost invincible, very slow speed, swat van roadblocks: almost invincible.

when your on cooldown, your heat will slowly decrease, and once all the heat levels are decreased, the pursuit is terminated.

there are a few ways to start a pursuit.

going past a cop at high speeds can start a pursuit.

hitting a cop will start a pursuit.


standing in front of a cop will, apparently start a pursuit.


hitting civilian cars in front of cops will start a pursuit.

there are cars and upgrades that can work well with surviving in pursuits, those being the ford raptor, ranger rover evoque... and thats it. but those cars are only built for toughness, and ill explain more about the cars later, but for upgrades, theres stuff like powershot nitrous, reinflatible tires, reinforced chassis, ram chassis, impact body protection, and short gears.

the ford raptor and the range rover evoque are good cars for toughness. a recommended pursuit car would be the bugatti veyron super sport. its the fastest car in the game, and works really well in pursuits, that is, if you give it ram chassis, powershot nitrous, reinflatible tires, inpact body protection, and short gears.

for those of you who have seen swat vans in this game may have thought they were invincible. well, thats actually not true. it is possible to wreck them, and theyre are a few methods i can show you.

if you hit a civilian semi truck while being chased by a swat van, theres a chance the semi truck will hit the swat van and wreck it.


theres a 5% chance this will work, but if you were to shove a swat van into a wall, it will wreck.

if you get a swat van stuck in a wall, you can hit its side at a very high speed. this is the most effective way of wrecking swat vans.

shockingly, the ford raptor and the range rover evoque are NOT the best cars for wrecking swat vans, even with the buffed parts. thats why i recommend using the veyron.

there are tips for escaping pursuits faster.

you may have thought painting your car was only for style, but if you were to go through a paint shop, your heat level will decrease by 1.

swiching cars is the same deal, just with cars, not paint.

if you turn off your engine, your heat will decrease faster? idk how this makes sense, but that is another trick you can use, but its best to go to a hidey place while doing this, like this place:
