Soul Reaver 2 had a lot of various puzzles but a lot of them communicated very poorly, were too damn long, and might have not reached a proper level of polish due to resource constraints and spreading the team too thin with this variety.
Reload the game or switch to the older graphics for a bit, until you've progressed further. It helped me, you just avoid this day/night cycle altogether.
There's also a graphics bug with Remastered Graphics in Soul Reaver 2, in the puzzle with the hearts. Now, when carrying one, switch to PS1 graphics for a bit because otherwise you won't be able to see where to put them. Because they're black cubes in the remastered graphics, occluding with the action zone.
