Npc does not pick up weapons and open doors for player after killing guards.

I am having an odd issue, the door in the office that the zombine is in once you get seperated from Odessa and the other guy wont open. The handle will just jitter like on any unusuable door. I've looked it up to see if it's the way you are supopsed to go but it just wont open for me.
