Overview
Stronghold HD has two useful glitches. The first allows you to assign multiple workers to a single building. The second allows you to trap workers inside a building, causing pickups and deliveries to be instant.
Multi-workers Glitch
Several buildings can have more than one worker assigned to them. This allows for a high volume of output from only a single building. To perform this bug:
  • Select a building (with an assigned worker)
  • Pause the game (press the

    hotkey)

  • Click the "snooze" button twice
  • Unpause the game

The game will act as if there isn't an assigned worker. Wait until an available worker has been assigned and then repeat. Since snoozing a building typically unassigns all workers from all buildings of that type, this glitch will cause a new worker to be assigned to each instance of that building. For example, if you have three orchards, performing this glitch once will give you three more workers (one extra at each location). This glitch works well for the following buildings:
  • Woodcutter's Hut
  • Iron Mine
  • Pitch Dugout
  • Orchard
  • Wheat Farm
  • Hops Farm
  • Chapel
  • Church
  • Cathedral
  • Apothecary
  • Well

For those buildings, workers will work in parallel allowing many to do the same task at the same time. Other buildings, however, cause the workers to work in sequence. This means no matter how many workers are assigned, one must complete a task before the next worker can start.

The only sequential building that's still useful is the dairy farm with two workers. This allows one worker to begin the milking process while the other is turning in a wheel of cheese.
No-walk Glitch
Several buildings allow you to trap the worker inside. When this happens, any items they'd deliver or pick up are completed instantly. This allows a single worker to have a higher output and removes the need for some buildings to be near each other. To perform this bug:
  • Watch a worker when they're about to enter a building
  • Before they enter, note which ground tile they're standing on
  • After they enter, place a single wooden wall on the same tile

When the worker leaves the building, they'll be stuck on top of the wooden wall. This will cause them to immediately complete any drop-offs and pick-ups and then re-enter the building to work again. The tile will always be in the same spot unless the tile is inaccessible while the worker is trying to enter. In this case, the worker will use a different tile for entering and exiting, which is where the wooden wall must be placed. This glitch works well for the following buildings:
  • Fletcher's Workshop
  • Poleturner's Workshop
  • Blacksmith's Workshop
  • Tanner's Workshop
  • Armorer's Workshop
  • Bakery
  • Brewery
  • *Mill
  • *Quarry

This glitch will only work with wooden walls and not stone walls except for the Fletcher's Workshop, Tanner's Workshop, and the Quarry which can use either wall type.

Mill Setup
The mill is slightly different in that it has three sequential workers. As the first piece of wooden wall is placed, it'll block the other two workers from being able to reach that tile. This causes them to pick a new tile as their entrance/exit point. While most of the efficiency can be gained from trapping a single worker, optimal results require trapping all three workers which can take a little extra time to set up since each of the three workers will be trapped with their own piece of wooden wall.

Quarry Setup
This glitch is very effective with the quarry, however, it works much differently than the other buildings. In this case, the goal isn't to trap the workers inside the quarry but rather to prevent the ox's worker from being able to reach the quarry's gathered stones. To do this, create a U-shaped wall going from the quarry, around its pickup pad, and connect it back to the quarry. This will prevent the ox's worker from being able to reach the stones (but quarry workers can still reach the pickup pad). The ox's worker will then immediately pick up the stones from afar and place it on the ox. This means the ox can be placed next to the stockpile making delivery incredibly fast.

When walling off the quarry, some rocks on the ground may prevent the wall from being built but they won't prevent the ox's worker from reaching the pickup pad. In this case, the entire quarry must be blocked off. This can also work by building many quarries, waiting for their workers to arrive, and then placing a solid wall around the entire quarry site. Lastly, ox's workers can clip (walk through) the wall's corners if they're diagonal. To avoid this, either build walls with 90-degree right angles (only up/down/left/right) or for diagonal walls/corners, make the wall twice as thick which prevents the worker from clipping through.
