Introduction

Welcome Divers!

The game 'Divers' in UFO 50 is quite bare bones and doesn't give the player much information about how the game works or what any of the items do. This is especially stressful as the very first thing you do in the game is buy items with zero context. In this guide I will explain all the items I have personally found, and what they do. However I do not have a complete understanding and so some items may be unexplained, the guide is a work in progress.

Also note that much like all UFO 50 games, discovering the games without a guide is part of the experience. The "Shop" and "Crafting" sections will only spoil the use of the items, while the "Loot" and "Secrets" sections will have minor exploration spoilers as well since I will describe things you can find outside the shop. Locations for these items won't be discussed in this guide though, only what the items do.
The Shop

Welcome to the shop!

This is likely the first thing you will ever see in Divers and it is quite an intimidating introduction. Here are what each 'section' of the store represents as well as DIVING into any specific items that need explaining on each page.

The Polearms

This page is for all the pointy weapons. These are the most straightforward ones, they do the most damage for the price, with the more expensive versions increasing in power.

The coloured icon next to the weapon describes it's element. Certain enemies are weak to certain elements, so experiment to find the best weapon element for each enemy! Early on it's suggested you get one of each element to cover your bases.

These, like all items have a set amount of uses, however this isn't "weapon durability" in the worst sense, as returning to the surface entirely refill the uses it has, even if it hits 0 during a dive, meaning none can permanently 'break'.

The Hammers

This page is for all the blunt weapons. These have a mix of offence and defence, being able to protect you better than Polearms when you pick to 'defend' with them. They do however do less damage than their pointy equivalent. Same rules apply for the elemental types.

The Shields

This page is for the shields, very good defensive weapons that give a passive defensive bonus. They can be used to attack but are weak compared to other options.

Thanks to 'Hamber' in the comments, an additional note about shields is that they also bypass the counterattack found on spiky enemies such as Urchins, Snails, and Walnuts. Avoiding chip damage over time. Thanks, Hamber!

The Potions

This page contains the potions. These are consumable items that can be exhausted on a dive, but refill when you return to base.

Small Potion Heals Approx. 500 health, can be used in or out of combat like all other items in this section. Only 4 uses before needing to resurface.

Medium Potion Heals Approx. 500 health just like the small potion, however it has 8 uses before needing to resurface, double the amount of the small potion.

Holy Potion Heals Approx. 2500 health and has 8 uses before needing to resurface.

Evil Potion Heals Approx. 1000 health but it de-levels the character holding it by one level. (Making a Level 5 character holding an evil potion effectively become a level 4 character). It has 4 uses. So basically a doubly effective small potion with a big drawback.

Egg A revival item that brings an ally back from the dead. It's worth saying that resurfacing will also do this, so the egg is only necessary for mid-dive fatalities.

The Key Items

Bomb The bomb is a consumable item that can be used in or out of combat, although it's function is different depending on which. It only has one use before needing to resurface and recharge it.

Outside of combat it can be used to clear pathways to make shortcuts or find tucked away treasure chests. Inside combat it is a single use and extremely powerful attack, especially early on. Use it wisely though!

Mist Orb is a STEALTH focused item that can be used in or out of combat, where it is used will alter it's effect. It has 3 uses before needing to resurface. When used outside of combat this prevents enemies from knowing your location and chasing you. Very useful for exploring areas with over-powered enemies or ensuring you get back to the surface safely. When activated your lizard man will dip into the shadows and a new meter will begin to deplete in the bottom left showing how long the mist orb will stay in effect.

When used in combat it is a guaranteed escape.

Godblood Is an item with a passive effect. The party member holding the god blood is effectively one level higher than they were before. This means a party member holding the godblood at level 5 will have the stats of a level 6 character. It cannot be used in the combat menu, although the passive benefits obviously do aid in combat.

At max level (16) Godblood has no visible effect. (Thanks to TheWertle in the comments for the info!)
Crafting Materials
Welcome to the CRAFT ZONE

When booting up the game you may have been confused by the large amount of unexplained icons shown below, or perhaps even more confused when finally getting one and not knowing how to use them. Well, here is their deal.

Grindable Crafting Materials

These are the ones represented by a picture (E.g Bubble, Shell, Blades)

These are found by defeating enemies or very rarely exploring the map. Certain enemies will drop certain types of these items, meaning there is a way to grind for specific items. In my experience some of these these can be quite rare to get to drop, though.

Special Crafting Materials

Only one instance of the A and B crafting materials exist in the game. The A material is linked to game progress, while the B crafting material is found in the world fairly late in the game.

SO WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

They are used in the shop, in addition to currency to obtain items and weapons.

When browsing the shop you can see which items need crafting material as well as money by looking toward the bottom of the screen when hovering over them in the menu.
World Loot
This section describes the items and weapons that can be found out in the world and what they do. These are usually in a chest!

This will be the least complete section so far, since I won't have found everything.

Flippers

Probably the first one of these you'll find are the flippers. They increase swimming speed, but potentially only on the lizard who is currently visible swimming on the world map, so equip with care.

Parasite Hammer

In addition to getting you the Pig House item for Divers, the Parasite hammer is a decently strong 'green' element hammer that has an extra bonus of healing you by a tiny amount after every successful attack.

Thorn Shield

The thorn shield is the rare shield that also does solid attack damage, almost comparable to the second tier of the polearms in addition to it's defensive perks. It has the red element and hurts enemies a little after they attack you.

Holy Rod

Does high lightning damage but has reduced durability compared to similar weapons, only having 15 uses per dive. The defend option is also swapped out for a 'heal' option. Making this double as a potion supply as well as a weapon.

Large Potion
A large potion can be found in the world and heals by 500, with 12 charges before needing to resurface. Thanks to "dathompson" in the comments for this one!
Secrets
There's a chance you found a little secret alcove at some point and found one of these three mysterious items but are unsure what they do.

These three collectables are required to get the cherry in Divers, so good luck finding them! You can check which you already have due to them showing up on your pause menu while on a dive.

Well, that's the entire guide, with my current knowledge. I may update this as I learn more. Hope it helped!

I discovered a really good place to farm both exp and gold is the enemies that shoot you in the area west of the starting area, where the parasite hammer is

Oops correction X is from the ghosts

The x material drops from vampire squid in the fleshy area. I am not sure what Second from the list means. If you mean the material for making poison trident, they drop from those blobs that leap left and right between walls

Any infos on where the x material and the 2nd one in the list drops from?

There is also an L. PTN to be found that has 12 charges of 500 heal.

something to note about the shields is that they also bypass the counterattack found on spiky enemies such as Urchins, Snails, and Walnuts. While pretty niche use since these enemies aren't super common, not having to take several turns of chip damage in a random fight is nothing to sneeze at

@TheWertle thanks for the info, I've added it to the guide with credit, too.

At max level godspeed does not appear to do anything, at least it does not add hp to whoever is holding it like it does on lower levels, just checked as someone at lvl 16

@benjymlewis Good question, I am not sure. I don't even know how many people have even reached max level! If anyone has the info I'll add it to the guide though.

Does Godblood do anything at max level? (level 16)
